I checked a lot of reviews before choosing this place. Using a simple cost/benefit comparison of places that charge less than $45 for basic cut, they came out head and shoulders above all the shops I found in the H Street / Capitol Hill area, and are open later than 5:30/6 pm* *Senate Hair Care is great but has pretty limited hours. I compared price to reviews; plus no one has such a nice, high-quality ambience at their price point. $35 for basic cut. The only reason I didn't rate five stars was due to a mistake with the online booking, or the staff wasn't using it. The booking system was surprisingly easy to use (Google Maps & Yelp links to their site), but when I arrived they said the barber I booked was not there. ‍ Hakim took his time, was extremely detailed and was clearly aiming for perfection, and was very concerned with getting it the way I wanted. read more

Pleasantly surprised. I decided to give Habibs a try so I scheduled an appointment with Abdel online. When I arrived at my appointed time I was disappointed to find Abdel had others waiting ahead of me. Fortunately Tia noticed me waiting and quickly put me in her chair. I brought a very difficult challenge, a many month overgrown head of thick hair. Tia followed my rather poor directions well, asked excellent clarifying questions throughout, and cut my hair with exquisite care. I left with one of the best hair cuts I've ever received. read more

S/o to this brand new shop. I'm from out of town and needed a good cut and was pleasantly surprised. They do know how to fade black hair texture and did not push my line back. The young man Josue was great and gave me the best beard trim I had. Set aside at least 30 mins 45 mins if getting your face as well because they do focus on detail. Incredibly inconsistent establishment. Barbers will have times available to book via their app but will not be there in person. I have booked multiple reservations and their batbers have either cancelled last minute (literally I am parking and they will cancel) or will just not be there at all. This has happened multiple times. I would suggest WALK INS only. Their "reservations" on the app/website are purely for show. read more

So great I created a yelp account just to leave a positive review. I'm a standard, middle aged white dude, but I find it remarkably difficult to get a good haircut. This one was quick and looks great. While getting the cut, I noted their Vietnamese natural fiber broom. I asked where they bought it. Next thing I knew, he'd gone into the storeroom and gave me a new one. I tried to pay him for it, but it looked like he'd rip me a new one. I went there on the recommendation of a friend who goes to their Arlington shop. He said they're awesome, and now I know why. read more

This place is great, you feel at home when you're there, when you're getting your haircut you have a conversation, and oh by the way you also get a great haircut. I don't usually write reviews; however, I feel like I owe Habib this. I have been following Habib around the DC metro for the past 20 years. But for a handful of instances I have had every single haircut at his shop for the last 20 years. I travel from Maryland to his DC or VA shop for one simple reason, a stress free awesome haircut!! The handful of times I was traveling and had to get my haircut out of town, it resulted in a super stressful experience and/or a terrible haircut. Habib's new shop on H street is beautiful and well equipped. And he is hands down one of the nicest human beings I have ever met, besides being a skilled and experienced barber!!
