Greek salad with gyro instead of chicken

I came in for lunch on my way back from LA and it never disappoints here. The Greek salad with gyro -- which I totally took a chance on -- was absolutely incredible. Best gyro I've ever had. Did I say ever? I did. I did... Husband had the classic gyro plate with amazing fries and salads.

Located in Main St near CMH hospital. Sufficient parking. Clean space. You order in the counter and pay. They bring the food to your table. Very friendly staff. The Greek Burger combo is a must. Big portions too

First visit - was surprised to have to walk up to counter order food and then take a number. Large menu. Hubby loved the baklava.

Amazing Mediterranean food. Looks like a small hole in the wall, but quite large. Order at the counter and be seated. Ladies working at the counter were super sweet. Will definitely be back!

It's all Greek to me..and that's a good thing. I never made it here after Chuys closed. We wanted something late for lunch and this was the perfect place to come. Very good assortment of Greek food and a nice look inside. You order at the counter they give you a number and then you get ongoing service even after your meal is dropped off. Dee came to our table several times asking if we needed anything and even bringing us some extra tzatziki. Later, she came by and apologized for not coming sooner to clear my plate. Incredible customer service. The restaurant was clean and the lamb gyro, salad and rice plate was on point. Really good. If you haven't been here, you definitely need to stop by at some point.

It's been a while since I last reviewed this place but my feelings remain the same - best lamb burger ever! Everything pairs so well together and the lamb is not gamey tasting. It is such a filling meal and so tasty. I am so tempted to try other entrees on the menu that also sound amazing, such as the poached salmon or pastichio, but I always find myself getting this juicy lamb burger. The side of tzatziki that came with the lamb burger was also super fresh and the fries were perfect. Friendly staff and a lovely front dining room, though I have only dined in on one occasion. They have a separate room with a lot of baked goodies as well as pantry items on display for purchase.

A Greek client recommended this spot in Ventura, and I'm glad I took their advice! The fries seem to be a crowd favorite, so I paired them with a lamb gyro (pronounced yee-roh). The lamb gyro definitely lives up to the hype -- it was flavorful and tender, with none of the gamey taste you might expect. If you're deciding what to order, I suggest going with the lamb. In addition to the food, there's a small market featuring Greek goods, as well as a bakery section with delicious pastries and sweets. As for parking, it's plentiful, so no worries there. One thing to note is that the prices can be a bit on the higher side for a casual, order-at-the-register type of spot. A chicken or lamb gyro will cost about $15 which is reasonable these days.

Old fries and grease from the meat that soaked through the box.

Sooo disappointed. I hyped this restaurant up to my boyfriend and was excited to have him try one of my favorite gyros. We just got the oldest, crusty food you can imagine and now he doesn't trust my judgement in food. Haha. We ordered several lamb gyros, with fries, and salads to go. We didn't see the food until we got home. Unfortunately, we were not free to go return it. The pita that is typically super soft and fluffy was stale, kind of broke a bit from being folded. The meat was greasy enough to make the cardboard container transparent, soaking my fingers in grease from holding the bottom of the container. The fries were room temperature, if that. Also greasy, but the consistency of almost raw potato. The fries were for sure left over from lunch time. The least they could've done was throw them in the microwave for a few seconds to give the illusion thay they were cooked within the last few hours. I'm wondering if the emptiness of the restaurant is due to the decline in quality. We could've saved a lot of money by getting fast food and it would've been better quality.

Went here for lunch. The place is massive, you can't appreciate how big it is from the outside. The place is clean and the employees are extremely friendly. I had a chicken gyro with fries and salad - the portion size is MASSIVE. Everything was very good - the fries, the salad, the gyro. My only small complaint was that there was too much sauce on the gyro. I would recommend having it on the side. Also, a little bit of heat would have added to the flavor - maybe have some hot sauce available. I would highly recommend this place!

Amazing lamb and dolmas! Stopped by on our way home for a trip and was not disappointed by the quality and delicious taste of the food here. Portion sizes are great and staff is friendly. I would love to come back. The market had some essentials and wines great for souvenirs too.

    Front dining room looks cozy.

While visiting a nearby chocolate shop, Dear Hubby and I first learned about Stephens Market & Grill. We will definitely need to come back when we are in the mood for Greek / Mediterranean food. We did pick up some of their mixed olives, which made for a yummy snack. While checking out the interior, I was intrigued by the various dining spaces, the imported Greek treats from biscuits/cookies, to all manner of gourmet specialty foods, wines, gift items, and so much more. Murals grace the walls in all the public rooms, including the very large open dining room. When weather cooperates, they also have a good-sized outdoor patio, too. Free parking is available out back, and you can enter that way. We had initially walked in off Main Street, and passed through the restaurant on the way to the parking lot. The main food to-go section and cold cases are to the front / Main Street side. Two of the women at the main counter were gracious in answering our questions about the menu. We were made to feel welcome, even though we only made a small purchase and weren't staying for a meal. All these factors made it a place that I've bookmarked for a future visit to spend more time.

We checked into our harbor hotel and ordered takeout from The Greek Mediterranean Steak and Seafood, which turned out to be an excellent life decision. First challenge: surviving the parking lot. I don't know who designed that little maze, but I emerged victorious eventually. Once inside, though, the place had a great energy. A dance floor, a DJ spinning genuinely good tunes, and massive windows overlooking the harbor like the restaurant knew exactly what kind of mood we needed. Service was fantastic. Our order was ready on time, and they also made me a dangerously good Negroni to go. Honestly, if someone hands you a well-crafted Negroni after a desert road trip, that's practically an act of community care. Back at the hotel, we spread everything out on our balcony overlooking the harbor while the sun set, and suddenly life felt very cinematic. We ordered the Sampler for Two, which included lamb chops, falafel, loukaniko sausages, spanakopita, dolmades with avgolemono sauce, tzatziki, hummus, hot pita wedges, and a Greek salad. Basically, a feast disguised as takeout. Everything was delicious. The lamb chops were flavorful, the falafel crisp, the spanakopita flaky and rich, and the whole spread felt generous and thoughtfully prepared. Portions were large enough that we saved the hummus and tzatziki for the next day, where they heroically returned as cocktail snacks. A true encore performance. This meal didn't just feed us, it restored us a little. Good food, great atmosphere, harbor sunset, Negroni in hand. Sometimes a travel day ends exactly the way it should.

To be totally honest, I was a little bit intimidated by how the process works. But I assume caught on that. It was almost like a chipotle kind of style place. I decided to go with a bowl. I was able to choose between three types of different bases, and I went with the basmati rice and the couscous was able to choose a couple of salad options as well. Luckily, we were able to mix and match since I can never make a decision on getting All three types of greens that they have. Then moved over to the hummus section and I was able to get the three most popular hummus flavors, which I actually don't remember what I got. I know one of them was an olive flavored one and another one was a little more spicy. Then over to the protein side of things, you can mix up to two different choices, and some of the other options there is an upgrade fee. Then removed over to the toppings and these are all unlimited and so I was able to get feta cheese, tomatoes, olives, purple cabbage, everything was so endless and amazing At the very end, you're able to choose two different kind of sauces and at the very end, my bowl was actually pretty heavy in weight but most importantly it was very delicious Thank you to the team member here that was very helpful and walked me through the process. I think I might've been too overwhelmed. Otherwise I might've just opted for the burger which I may still have to try next time. The sweet potato fries also look very good and I will have to try those next time for sure. There's a ton of parking spots right outside. I can't get a little bit busy here so she'll be so many different food options but generally, I haven't really had an issue with finding a spot.

The ability to visit an establishment multiple times and receive the same quality you have always come to expect is very important in customer retention. I don't think concept this works very well in franchises because they vary so much. Today, that point was further proven when I ordered the same exact dish that I had yesterday in the Oxnard Luna location and today at the Ventura location. Yesterday I had a great Keto bowl with a balanced variety of ingredients that cohesively gave it its delicious flavor. Today in the Ventura location I had a dry bowl of lettuce with some stuff on top that tasted like if I was eating fresh cut grass from a football field. It truly does matter when and where you go when it comes to franchises. Very disappointed.
