On March 15, 2017, I had just finished working the midnight - 4 AM shift at Sardar Biglari's permanently " Steak-N-Shake " 15125 Montfort that was supposed to be turned into a franchise. Our GM was Justin Baldwin , formerly with " Jimmy John's Dallas " who is now GM at a Steak-n-Shake in Richardson. Justin's assistant ( our night time manager ) was Rachell Susana Hullet who is now at Fusion Automotive, Cullman, Alabama. 3rd shift server, C. J. Willis and I would put away the " Sygma " truck twice a week. Before I could get to DART Arapaho Center Station ( which was called " Richardson Transit Center " before DART purchased the ROW of the Houston, Texas and Central in 1980 ) an unknown Dallas motor vehicle operator knocked me off of my blue Plano Cycling and Fitness Giant Escape bike, rewarded me with a fractured pelvis, a 6 " scar on my abdomen and a traumatic brain injury with scars on my scalp. THIS IS A REVIEW OF THEIR DONATION PICKUP SERVICE, NOT OF THE STORE. On September 16th I scheduled a pickup for items that would not fit in my car. Later that day I received a confirmation e-mail saying my request was accepted for pickup on September 23rd. On the morning of the 23rd I hoped to receive an e-mail with a window of pickup time. Not hearing anything I sent an e-mail to the address on the confirmation. There was no reply so mid-morning I sent a text to Habitat for Humanity asking again when my items would be picked up and, again, no reply. I then called the phone number on the confirmation a couple of times and could never get through to a live person even though the recorded message said the pickup service department was open on Saturdays. In the early afternoon I found the phone number for the Habitat ReStore Plano and called. I got another recorded message without the option for leaving a message. I figured I would have to just stay home until a driver arrived to pick up my items. Two o'clock, three o'clock and then four o'clock and no pickup. At five o'clock I drove to the Plano Habitat for Humanity of Collin County store. Two young men at the front desk told me the pickup is handled in McKinney but they are not open on Saturday or Sunday. I was given a phone number and told to call on Monday. I just wasted an entire day waiting for a driver who never showed up and I never received a return call, e-mail or text. I figured I would get some help on Monday. WRONG!!! It is now after noon on the 25th. Not hearing from Habitat for Humanity of Collin County this morning, I called the phone number given to me by the two young men at the Plano location. I had to choose an option for directing my call. One option told me of a service that could pick up my items for a fee. Another just said my call could not be accepted and to call back. If they don't want me to donate items so they may make some money, they are doing a good job. There are other charities in the Plano area that I know from experience offer good service. UPDATE: Tuesday, September 26th at 9:40 am - At 8:30 this morning Habitat left me a voice message saying they will pickup this morning. There was more message but it was too garbled to understand. I called the donation phone number back and got a recording. I already scheduled a pickup with the Salvation Army but, if Habitat gets here by noon, I will give to them. UPDATE: The Habitat truck arrived at noon on the 26th and picked up my donations. The two guys were very nice and professional. I asked for a tax receipt and was told it would be sent online. Will I donate to Habitat for Humanity again? I doubt it! read more

I went there today with my sister-in-law. She lives in California and thought the prices were great. The window dressing fabrics looked beautiful. We saw some appliances that looked almost new. I saw a lot of nice looking rugs, old piano and grandfather clock. What I liked was the selection of lighting, door handles, faucet knobs,etc. Compared to Home Depot and Lowes, you would be saving a lot. We saw some wood flooring around $1 SF. Appliances are tested before they are on the floor. There is a 30 day warranty if you need to return an item. If you sign up on their email list, you get to take off another 20%. Like anything else, first come first served. Different items arrive daily. I also like that purchases and donations go back to helping the community. I disagree with the other reviewers. Bought a washer and dryer from here. The dryer worked the washer didn't. You have to pay for your own pickup and returns. Since I can't lift it and don't have a way to transport it, it was a loss for me. In the future, I will not get used appliances.. It is a cool place to pick up art, rugs, and decorative things though. I've had good experience with the customer service here as well. Sharon is awesome! read more

I use to come here all the time until the new management took over. Everything now is grossly overpriced and i literally went yesterday to look at stoves and ended up picking up a brand new one for a lot less at Nebraska Furniture Mart. I've been a volunteer and built homes with Habitat and i feel this location lost the heart of the mission. Good job loosing all you flip and builder business. I recommend saving yourself time and going to another location. read more

My 1 star rating is for their abysmal pick up service. I get that charities are afraid of bed bugs so ReStore wouldn't accept my mattress and box spring. When the driver arrived he refused to accept my sun faded but in otherwise good condition loveseat. Ah, the horror of actually using a sofa cover or bedsheet to cover an otherwise in good shape piece of furniture, gotta love that Plano nose in the air mentality. They did however pick up a nightstand, bed frame and vintage telephone table. The telephone table really was in good shape until one of the goofball delivery people picked it up haphazardly allowing a small drawer to fall out and smash on the ground. Consider donating your items to a charity that will show your donations more respect. Since I'm a peasant (that's the way I was treated by ReStore's pick up personnel), I will submit this review and return to eating cake (if you don't understand this comment brush up on your French Revolution history). read more

I found a large item at this Restore I had been looking for. When I expressed interest in it, the price dropped by almost 90%. They wanted it out of there! I also received a 20% discount on the other items I was purchasing that day. Well-organized volunteers, cheerful and helpful, too! Have you ever watched the show Sanford and Son? Well, this restore reminds me of that show just a little more organized. I was happy when I found out that there was a restore closer to where I live. However, it was short lived. The restore is on a road less traveled. You wouldn't know what was there unless you were really looking for it. When we walked in the store we were not greeted so just started browsing. Directly to the left of the entrance was a cramped corner filled to the brim with furniture - antique, new and used. The prices were a bit high for a restore. I expected some great deals. When you walk past the register you see more furniture and tons of appliances. Walk to the right of the store you get your lighting and ceiling fans. In the back you will find your doors, shutters, tile, countertops, blinds, carpet, paint, etc. It was overwhelming how you needed to be extra careful around this stuff. We had our seven year old son with us. We had to keep a careful eye on him. The aisles are cramped and packed up to the ceiling it seems like. The store is staffed by volunteers from the Habitat for Humanity and they are very helpful. However, the donations that they get in this part of town are not as nice as the ones they get in Garland. The guy helping us out told us that the one in Garland actually buys all of their merchandise at 75% off and then resells it to the public. They don't do that at this location. All their stuff is truly donated. It shows. We didn't buy anything but two bottles of water. read more

I can imagine that a lot of people walk into a ReStore expecting "garage sale" prices and when they find out otherwise they get upset, feel their time has been wasted and leave a bad review. A ReStore is a place of business and not just junk thrown into a yard for sale. There is overhead in paying their full time staff, rent/lease of store space, electricity, etc. This has to be factored into the price of items. They also might expect thrift store prices, and while close, ReStore items will have a slightly increased price due to the fact that the more they can get for an item, the more it helps others in need. That's the main thing I think most people who complain fail to understand, the prices are for giving back to the charity and not for the shoppers themselves. read more

I was a bit hesitant about going after reading these old reviews but every resale shop deserves a peek or two. So I went about two weeks ago and what do you know, I LOVED it! Nothing was overpriced, except for maybe some art work, but the hardware, paint, and remodeling supplies cost next to nothing! I had asked a gentleman to help me decide if he thought I could install a light fixture myself, and he just giggled and explained how to do it very well. I would have given it 5 stars but one of the ladies at the register was a bit cranky and kind of acting like I was bothering her. Plano TX hidden gem! Today was my first time and I will be back! No clothing but everything else this is the place!

I found out about this place from a friend who does remodeling and I am so glad. I want to replace some items in my home with different ones, but can't afford to pay for brand new.... I was looking for a pedestal sink to replace the kind that is just attached to the wall and they had several. One was just what I was looking for and cost less than half what I would have to pay new. If I could give negative stars I would. Kellie S. described it correctly. It is a junk place with overpriced stuff. We went there for the first time today. Walking in we were delighted to see an array of lighting, overpriced lighting. Thinking we could still find some fairly priced items we continued to look. We happened to arrive some employees/volunteers were unloading a truck of new items. None of these items were priced. Stumbling upon a small wooden, wine box we asked a young man there for the price. He told us to ask the lady at the front. Picking up the box to ask the lady in the front the price we bumped into her in one of their dirty hallways. She motioned and made a rude face to my husband as if to say, "um...give it to me so I can price it," he handed it to her without acknowledging her lack of manners. The lady stated, "I got to look up the price. It'll take a minute." We walked around the rest of the store and started in one room filled with knick knacks. Two volunteers in the room told us to be careful because they were looking for a rat and just wanted to give us warning. I immediately left the room. My husband, undaunted, continued to venture in. While standing in the hallway I noticed stairway spindles. They were priced at $3 each. The McKinney Restore has them priced at $1 each. Near the furniture they had rug pads priced at $12 per pack. Two weeks ago I purchased rug pads from a Ross store for $6. Having a feeling this woman was gonna give me some high price on the wooden wine box I walked to the front to get her quote. She said, "It is $100". I told her the sticker on the bottom which read, "Goodwill" had it priced at $12. She replied, "That was their price. I have a pricing structure we follow." I asked was it the same pricing structure the other places follow. She replied, "They are a different store. That box retails for $119 online." "Well, I can add $20 to your price and get it brand new. Didn't you see the scratches all on the side of it?" I asked. "I have a pricing structure to follow," she answered. "Well, we'll decline." I laughed. We left their store. Whoever is responsible for this pricing structure at their store knows nothing about running a business. We saw chairs marked at $779, fabric chairs!, old, box televisions marked higher than flat screens you can get at Walmart! It seems they are looking up items on the Internet and marking it down by a flat percentage. No thought is put into their pricing. They don't even check to see if their items are real or fake. Oh, and when I was standing in front of the counter waiting for her price on that box she whispered to another employee that they have a rat and didn't want to inform the customers. I looked dead at her while she whispered. Why should I the customer turn away when you aren't being professional? At that time I wanted to say, "I know you have a rat." I wanted to say that real loud so other customers could hear it. To think that the Goodwill donated this stuff to them and that box was priced at $12 and they want to get $100 for it it highway robbery and makes me sick to my stomach. I would never, ever go back to that dirty, rodent filled and rude employee having store. If you want a belly filled, hearty laugh, go to the store and look at their prices but be careful of their rats. *price is 4 $ but this doesn't mean they have good stuff. They don't really. I volunteered at the new and old location and loved it, the staff is really wonderful. Christine, the volunteer coordinator, is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. They have a great selection on furniture and appliances at great prices plus lots of other items, basically anything you're looking for they will have it. I came here to volunteer and right when I walked in I noticed how over priced these crappy used items are. Not only are the items for sale filthy there are leaks throughout the place that damage the items. So that's my first impression of this place. I then started to help out and the lady (Christine/ Christina) showing me around the place was very disrespectful.....I asked where I could put my purse and she responded "if you see my lips moving that means I'm still talking." So I found that pretty rude... I would go anywhere but here to volunteer and I recommend to not buy stuff from here either. read more

Your best reason for coming here is the new assembled cabinets. Half to75% of what home Depot sells them for. Otherwise, stuff like used doors, cabinets and appliances; etc. Are damaged and they are still asking more than it's worth, for it. Small items like paint supplies are not bad in pricing. But, for free and donated items, the pricing scheme is higher than expected. While there, Myself and most entered the hot building and left empty-handed. I used to go and see bargins as they should be. Interesting that there still are items from 3 years ago when i was there... still there. That should not happen. I went in looking for cabient hinges. I found used ones with no screws asked for price and was told a price that was ridiculous close the the new price on amazon .75 each no screws hellooo same went for the knobs i found. I nicely explained that the price was over priced and still was told the same price. Needless to say i over heard a volunteer say this was not a thrift shop or garage sale. Well excuse me but yes you are... in many ways you have alot of used items and who ever is pricing items needs to learn to move the items not hold on to them. This store needs a good manager that prices correctly. Also any fridge that is old as those are priced for over 1k is ridiculous. I decided to check out this location ever since I found the McKinney store. The negative reviews you see here are spot on! I've been to thrift stores that were better organized and had much better prices than this overpriced place. If you are even a little bit claustrophobic (which I am not) do NOT step foot in this store. They have separate little rooms for different types of things...hardware, office supplies, home décor, etc. They have a lot of stuff piled on top of other stuff. Looking at the prices (when there actually WERE price tags, a lot of stuff were not priced) I can understand why they have so much still on shelves and such. Waaaaay overpriced. I thought I hit gold when I found some hole saws. Nope, they were just as much if not more than the one's they sell at HD and Lowe's. They have window dressing and blinds in bins stacked up to the ceiling, how are we supposed to see what's in there? The kitchen cabinet hardware like knobs and handles were ridiculously overpriced also. At the McKinney store, none are over $1.80. This store had some knobs that were 4.99 each! It was nuts! I walked out without purchasing a single item. If you want a good experience, go to the McKinney store. It's huge and the prices are very reasonable. I go at least once a week and can spend 2 hours in there just looking at everything. And I always come out with purchases! read more

I found a table labeled with a yellow price tag and asked the staff to hold the item up front while I continued to shop....upon check out the tall slender blond employee removed the price sticker and then claimed NO PRICE WAS EVER TAGGED ON THAT ITEM! I could not believe she stood there and lied to me. Another women walked over and stated the table is 3 times the original price marked. I COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW THESE EMPLOYEES BEHAVED. Over priced! Stainless steel kitchen sink priced at $150, you can get it at Lowes for $167 new. Big TV's priced at $80, you can get them for $20 at Goodwill. I've shopped at this store from time to time and have found an item or two that I needed - a door for a few dollars, an antique table, some parts for my Jenn-Aire Grill.... But one thing continues to tick me off every time I go and that is the Limoges dishware in the locked cabinet as you walk in the front door. Whoever donated these dishes expected the items to be sold to benefit some fine family in need. Instead, they have been sitting with an outrageous price tag for years - I am not kidding - YEARS in that cabinet. It is as if no one realizes that something is only worth what a willing buyer will pay for it. A Sanford and Son junk store is not the kind of place one would frequent in search of fine china. I may continue to stop by from time to time and check for particular items I need to purchase, but I will NEVER donate a thing. I went to the store today because I couldn't believe the reviews about over priced inventory. When I got there I believed it. They had lamps you could buy at Marshall's for $35.00 for $75.00. They had a sconce listed as bronze for $45.00 It was bronze colored resin from China. Some items they downloaded a picture of the item from eBay or other sellers website to justify the amount they were paying. Unfortunately this told me I was better off buying it from that website so I knew it would be new and in better condition. Did not like being followed around the store but I did get a chuckle when one employee came out of a back room protesting, I have to put $5.00 a piece on a ceiling fan blade? The employee was shocked too! Two other customers there told me to go t the sister store in McKinney. Apparently they have a better sense of pricing and the real world. They aren't rude and condescending like the Plano store. Note to store manager, please do not cut and paste the same crap as the other bad reviews. "sorry you had a not so good experience."
