My favorite local Mexican food spot! Food/drink menu has variety. Love their margaritas, enchiladas and tacos. Been coming back here every time I'm in the neighborhood. Decor is cool, gives authentic vibes. Service always on point, Mario is great!

Went here on cinco de Mayo and it was poppin off! (Of course) I appreciated the fact that the hostess was upfront about the kitchen being backed up and seated us when they were in a better position in the kitchen. We hung out at the bar and had a beer and a Margarita while we hung out. The churros were the best thing I had! Would like to go back for a full meal when not so hectic from the festivities!

Sweet spot! Nice food options, and truly great drinks. Everyone was friendly, our server Matt was attentive and helpful. Music is great, food great! But TRACY! The bartender extraordinaire! The spicy margarita flight was the best 3 spicy margs I've ever had.Churro martini, whaaat?! YES!

Shrimp was excellent, too.

Hopping place with an upbeat vibe. Staff was friendly, food was tasty and drinks were flowing. Music was pumping,, couldn't help dancing in my seat. Food was good, just needed a bit of salt.

Quesabirria Meal

One look on social media and I was sold! I had to try their Quesabirria which turned out to be unbelievably delicious. But let me tell you about the entire experience. As soon as we walked through the door, all eyes were on us (in a good way): the staff was super attentive & friendly! After checking our temperatures & signing us in, we were given choice of seating and, looking around, the ambience was really great here so you can't go wrong with any table. Hand sanitizer was provided at the door, and nothing could've gone smoother during our meal. Just as we had hoped, chips & salsa were dropped off and though I wish the salsa had a bit more of a kick, the chips were amazing! ...we got refills. The Quesabirria was so flavorful, cheesy, meaty, and with the consommé dip on the side, an absolute symphony in your mouth! My friends had the chicken quesadilla & chilaquiles divorciados and they enjoyed their meals too. Plus a handful of dishes can come with guac at no additional cost! All in all an amazing meal.

Their leadership,…read morein some indirect fashion, has led to the craftsmanship of El Azteca - A slight chain of Mexican restaurants in a 30 min radius of Bergen County. I will copy and paste this review across the Park Ridge and Mahwah locations so emphasize my appreciate for their consistency in providing great Mexican food. If you are consistently performing, Linguini will take care of you. Like I've taken care of many others. I will bring you to the top with me. If you backstab me. Oh if you come for me at the top, you will reach an abyss so deep you may end up digging to China. Don't test me. I'm not that guy. Anyways, I've tried a lot from Azteca. Most of what they've got is a 4/4.5 out of 5 but I'm rounding up for the full experience. Phenomenal price point. Variety of food that all comes out well. Performs well in restaurant and when the food travels. Friendly staff. And local business of which I support. I suffer from GGS - Good Guy Syndrome, sorry not sorry. My motha, bless her soul. I legit mean bless her soul. Be nice. Pray. Bow down to her. She doesn't eat much food but she even loved the taco salad here so much that she asked to go again. So much protein, so well seasoned. Just as their other options showcase as well. My personal favs are the Kash Burrito and the, what I'd call "trademark" Cod Burrito. Never have seen it elsewhere like this. The wrap is toasted wonderfully, great rice, great salsa. I mean this place just does it real well. I've had tacos, appetizers, desserts. Never let down. El Azteca is consistently good. Constantly pushing out quality product. Is it the best Mexican I've had? No. But it's the most underrated. Being a consistent 4, makes you a five in my books. It's like that girl that's occasionally a 6 or occasionally an 9... you can't bring her home. But that girl that's consistently a 7 or an 8? You let her meet the fam. I don't where I'm going with this one. All I'll say is STOP. Stop going to Chipotle, Bubbakoo's, etc. when you could be supporting a better quality and friendlier priced location in El Azteca. Thank you in advance. I will be watching - LB.

I took the train up one day, but unfortunately I didn't revisit the town for another 17 years. My Mexican House was a random stop that turned out to be great. I've always been into tacos and in recent years gained a nearly dangerous fascination with cemitas, and a result I may have missed out on many great Mexican entrees over the years. In the chuleta a la diabla, the pork chops were perfectly done and the sauce was an awesome incendiary concoction somewhat like mole. The chips were warm and fresh, the salsa was zingy and the service was outstanding.

We immediately ordered four margaritas, which were good, just not the best ones I've ever had. For appetizers we all split the cheese empanadas, which were actually pretty amazing in my opinion. The portions were pretty generous, so all of us were able to have about 1.5 empanadas. The empanadas were served with red and green sauce, the red sauce is SPICY so be aware! For main course, I ordered the vegetarian chimichanga which I LOVED. It was so good and it tasted freshly made. Overall, was very happy with my experience here. Its not the fanciest restaurant but it was perfect for national margarita day!

The food is still great. We had scallops, chorizo, brussels sprouts, and a flounder ceviche special. Everything was delicious. The ceviche in particular stood out -- fresh, well-portioned, and nicely "cooked" in lime juice. The sangria is still a highlight too. A big carafe, no ice watering it down, served with glasses full of fruit. The problem is the service. They had two servers and one bus person, and it showed. Everyone seemed to be scrambling, and it was hard to get a moment of attention to ask for anything or even be heard. Our food came out in pieces -- three items, then a long delay, then another. The last dish, calamari, never came. When I tried to tell the waiter we didn't want it anymore if it was forgotten, he didn't listen and insisted on bringing it anyway. We ended up waiting even longer, which just made the experience more frustrating. To top it off, they're now adding an operating/service fee (around 3-4%), which wasn't clearly communicated and just showed up on the bill. It's disappointing because the food is still very good, but the service issues -- and now the added fees -- are taking away from the experience. After this visit, we'll think twice before coming back.
