    Can accommodate large parties

They were so nice to accommodate my birthday ressy here!! Went back to grab the same thing I got as last time and again I ate it all! Food is still great!!! Service is a bit slow. And to the other reviewers that say it's quiet..that has not been my experience... it probably is when our large loud party isn't there.

What a great experience! Every time I go to a Mexican restaurant they are always conveniently out of pina coladas, but not tequila sal y limon! It's a nice quiet restaurant with a bar, so no need to byob. They have a large menu but not so overwhelming that you have trouble ordering. We started with the queso fundito, which had great flavor but wasn't greasy. I had the number 3 combination plate and I loved the variety of flavors. Over really great service, with nice staff and good size portions. Can't wait to come back and try more items. Sorry for the poor photos.

This was my first visit to Tequila Sal Y Limon. It was a Saturday at 3:35pm. I got off to an inauspicious start since the door was locked. I went around the back in case there was another entrance but encountered the chef which would indicate the business should be open. I tried it again 5 minutes later and made it inside. I took a seat at the bar. I ordered the burritos with chicken. I expected something basic, handheld and portable but I received a full plate saucy delight including beans and rice. I enjoyed my meal while watching ESPN on the television and oddly enough listening to a classical version of Metallica's "One." My meal was delicious as I ate every grain of rice and every chip.

Great food and service. Felipe was a pleasure offering suggestions and alterations to combos if necessary. Will definitely be back if ever in area

Terrible food. Our server Victor was rude bordering on insulting. I wanted to order the Guacamole but the chips and salsa had no salt and seemed stale. When I asked if he could give us some salted chips, he picked up the salt shaker and said, "use this" The enchalda platter was served 45 seconds from when ordered and was, of course, served at a cool temperature. The chicken was watery as was the cold rice, flavors were bland at best. The sangria was fabulous.

So happy my husband and I stumbled upon this authentic Mexican restaurant because not only is the food amazing but so are the staff and drinks. Loved the customer service and definitely recommend!

Food was really good. Place is small but the service was still very good even walking in with a table of 9 with no reservations.

I will copy and paste this review across the Park Ridge and Mahwah locations so emphasize my appreciate for their consistency in providing great Mexican food. If you are consistently performing, Linguini will take care of you. Like I've taken care of many others. I will bring you to the top with me. If you backstab me. Oh if you come for me at the top, you will reach an abyss so deep you may end up digging to China. Don't test me. I'm not that guy. Anyways, I've tried a lot from Azteca. Most of what they've got is a 4/4.5 out of 5 but I'm rounding up for the full experience. Phenomenal price point. Variety of food that all comes out well. Performs well in restaurant and when the food travels. Friendly staff. And local business of which I support. I suffer from GGS - Good Guy Syndrome, sorry not sorry. My motha, bless her soul. I legit mean bless her soul. Be nice. Pray. Bow down to her. She doesn't eat much food but she even loved the taco salad here so much that she asked to go again. So much protein, so well seasoned. Just as their other options showcase as well. My personal favs are the Kash Burrito and the, what I'd call "trademark" Cod Burrito. Never have seen it elsewhere like this. The wrap is toasted wonderfully, great rice, great salsa. I mean this place just does it real well. I've had tacos, appetizers, desserts. Never let down. El Azteca is consistently good. Constantly pushing out quality product. Is it the best Mexican I've had? No. But it's the most underrated. Being a consistent 4, makes you a five in my books. It's like that girl that's occasionally a 6 or occasionally an 9... you can't bring her home. But that girl that's consistently a 7 or an 8? You let her meet the fam. I don't where I'm going with this one. All I'll say is STOP. Stop going to Chipotle, Bubbakoo's, etc. when you could be supporting a better quality and friendlier priced location in El Azteca. Thank you in advance. I will be watching - LB.

I took the train up one day, but unfortunately I didn't revisit the town for another 17 years. My Mexican House was a random stop that turned out to be great. I've always been into tacos and in recent years gained a nearly dangerous fascination with cemitas, and a result I may have missed out on many great Mexican entrees over the years. In the chuleta a la diabla, the pork chops were perfectly done and the sauce was an awesome incendiary concoction somewhat like mole. The chips were warm and fresh, the salsa was zingy and the service was outstanding.

We immediately ordered four margaritas, which were good, just not the best ones I've ever had. For appetizers we all split the cheese empanadas, which were actually pretty amazing in my opinion. The portions were pretty generous, so all of us were able to have about 1.5 empanadas. The empanadas were served with red and green sauce, the red sauce is SPICY so be aware! For main course, I ordered the vegetarian chimichanga which I LOVED. It was so good and it tasted freshly made. Overall, was very happy with my experience here. Its not the fanciest restaurant but it was perfect for national margarita day!

But the food needs work , the chips and salsa were good , we ordered the fresh made guacamole made at the table was also good but ,Missing seasoning, lime juice and some type of chopped cilantro. The Mexican rice was bland , tasteless no sofrito and , missing seasoning the refried beans were ok ..My wife didn't like the taco salad it had cucumbers something you never put in a taco salad even the tomato slices were thick cut , she only liked the shell Lol.My son in-laws fried fish was good he liked it , and my sons chimichanga were also taste less compared to many others he has had elsewhere. The food is still great. We had scallops, chorizo, brussels sprouts, and a flounder ceviche special. Everything was delicious. The ceviche in particular stood out -- fresh, well-portioned, and nicely "cooked" in lime juice. The sangria is still a highlight too. A big carafe, no ice watering it down, served with glasses full of fruit. The problem is the service. They had two servers and one bus person, and it showed. Everyone seemed to be scrambling, and it was hard to get a moment of attention to ask for anything or even be heard. Our food came out in pieces -- three items, then a long delay, then another. The last dish, calamari, never came. When I tried to tell the waiter we didn't want it anymore if it was forgotten, he didn't listen and insisted on bringing it anyway. We ended up waiting even longer, which just made the experience more frustrating. To top it off, they're now adding an operating/service fee (around 3-4%), which wasn't clearly communicated and just showed up on the bill. It's disappointing because the food is still very good, but the service issues -- and now the added fees -- are taking away from the experience. After this visit, we'll think twice before coming back.
