But where? Reviewers touted the Inn Of The Turquoise Bear.....and they were right. Pros: - Location: Central. Just south of the downtown area and a 15 minute walk to Canyon Road. - Exterior: A sprawling property in a residential neighborhood. Several smaller buildings seem to have been added over the (many) years to the main building seen on most photos of the property. - Interior: Like going back 100 years. Things were fixed, of course...especially in public spaces...but you might feel as if you're in a living museum. - Our Room (Witter Byner): Large and rambling. More than enough room for 2 people plus a balcony overlooking the front of the property. Very comfortable. I could live there for a month if we didn't mind going up and down 15 stairs to the main floor. One interesting aspect: The bathroom. It was very nice and fully equipped, but separate from our room and down 5 stairs. That wasn't a problem during the day, but a few nights were an adventure - Breakfast: Unreal. Everything was homemade with great taste. The buffet portion had sliced fruit, granola, juices, pastries and yogurt. The hosts and kitchen staff had 3-5 entrees available each day. I rarely tried those since I filled up on the buffet, but my wife ate one every day and only had good things to say. Service at the community table was gracious and unhurried with lots of interesting conversation. - Amenities: A 1-2 hour Happy Hour every day starting at 430 or 5 PM. Fresh cookies, fruit, tea and jug water were available all day (coffee from 630-10 AM). Umbrellas. Plenty of smiles. - Hosts: Everyone was very friendly, helpful, informative and even charming. Special thanks to Aileen (sp?). - Housekeeping: Effective, efficient and unobtrusive. - Parking: Sufficient. The large courtyard in front of the of the property provided enough room for cars in the 11 room B&B. - Price and Value: Reasonable. It's not cheap, but as in most cases you get what you pay for. We'd heartily recommend the Inn Of The Turquoise Bear, but make reservations well in advance.

Many of his literary friends visited here and the guest rooms are named for them. There is assigned park parking as well as it's a premium in town. The breakfasts were excellent and the staff was very accommodating. The location is convenient to the downtown Plaza and restaurants. A beautiful property.

We had ice packs with us in a cooler that needed freezing. The staff were gracious enough to put them in their freezer for us. The grounds were lovely. Walking distance to so many places. Really, my only complaint was the firmness, or lack there of, of the mattress. I sat on the edge and actually slipped onto the floor because it was so soft. Even my husband who can sleep on anything said it was too soft. Love this place and I'd def come back again.

Mine included my room, a kitchenette, as well as a living room. There is also a nice outdoor area where you can sit and relax, as well as a nice bench that was outside of my doorway. It was very quiet and peaceful here, I loved watching the sunset. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. I would note that this is not a bed and breakfast despite the name that is in the title. No breakfast is served, other than tea/coffee and small snacks.

We…read morewere pleased with the sizeable refund we obtained after experiencing an ant infestation (repeatedly) and numerous other required repairs to this property. First, the staff at Casas de Santa Fe were very responsive to our complaints and attempts to exterminate the ant infestation. They delivered a portable AC for us, too. The complaint is specific to the property owners negligence on keeping this property up to the standards of Casas de Santa Fe. CASA VERANO PROPERTY OWNER: repair the broken handle on the microwave; make sure the windows are operable since you do not have AC in this home; replace the old and outdated appliances/coffee maker/stove; replace the uncomfortable mattresses and old linens; repair the inoperable shower door and get rid of the moldy tile. We will not stay at CASA VERANO, but we will use Casas de Santa Fe again and again.

They have a dog walk up front and a giant dog park about .3 mile from front. It's a walk, but nice. Wifi is pretty much non-existent. Tried to pick up local channels thru air since no cable, but couldn't get any locals. Had to stream Cowboys/Buccs game via ATT but still blurry. Probably a good thing. If you are in Santa Fe to sightsee, this is a great place. Go to MeowWolf. Eat at La Choza. Get Bryan's Auto Detail to come clean your RV.

The main problem for me is the noise from Cerritos Blvd. Nothing can stop this as young New Mexico drivers seem to be "praised" and "adored" for removing their mufflers from their cars and racing away from every stop light. All this leads to my initial point. This campground was likely plotted in the 1950's when this part of Sante Fe was ranches way outside of the metro and road noise was never an issue... The vintage-ness exudes from this place and provides it with its charm - It brings back memories of road trips in the backwards facing seat way in the back of the Country Squire Station Wagon and Olds Vista cruiser wagon - Even visits to summer camp in the 1960/70's. This campground is actually a tiny piece of Americana that will be lost in a few months, never to be again. Beautiful tress to be eliminated and vintage adobe buildings to be razed. If my information is correct, this is the last summer, and this site will fall to the hands of developers to build another ugly mini mall or faceless and devoid of personality condo buildings. A sad farewell to the place and to all the people who have kept this place all these years - PLEASE DO STAY HERE until it all ends. I am unsure of the dates.

Perched between Santa Fe and Madrid, Crystal Mesa Farm allows me to spend time in both places with ease. The owner Marie is a delight, knowledgeable about the area she told me of a "secret" place I didn't even know about in Madrid which I can't wait to visit again (it's a cemetery so "can't wait" might be the wrong term). I've stayed here a couple of times before and each time I've been in a different room, but the San Marcos room is one of my favorites. Looking up from the bed to the night sky with the stars so close you can touch them is what dreams are made of.

So far our first encounter has been to book our room with Lucinda, and based on conversation alone - she is so amazing, I KNOW our stay at Terrain is going to be wonderful. I called in for our original dates to stay and they were booked. I told her our dates might be flexible and she worked with through various phone conversations (with both the mister and I) to make sure she could accommodate us in the DreamHaus. Her delicate hand-holding on our reservation is enough to make me a guest for life without even having stepped foot in their beautifully pictured rooms. I can't wait to arrive in a few weeks and experience the amazing breakfast fare and first-rate hospitality and meet the two ladies behind Santa Fe's newest boutique retreat! I promise a full review (and probably a 5 star one) once we return.
