Very Dissapointing Stay. My wife and I decided to get out of town for the weekend, and decided on Santa Fe to spurge for a 3-day weekend getaway. We had a few things we were looking for, includg a pool, hot tub, on-site full-service restaurant, room service, bar and spa (resort type amenities). While researching several hotels in and around Santa Fe, we found Hotel Santa Fe, and it seemed like a perfect fit, with a good location. We book a 3-night stay, and a few days later was contacted about "upgrading" our room. Since this was a special weekend, I thought, "why not', and paid for the room upgrade. Imagine our surprise while checking in that due to a fire 6 weeks ago+ (not mentioned on their web page) that the hot tub was not open, the pool was un-heated (no gas due to the fire), the restaurant, bar and lobby were closed due to the fire, and there was no room service. I think my wife and I were so stunned, and caught off guard, that we went ahead and checked in. If we would have known about the lack of amenities in advance, we would have cancelled and booked elsewhere. This news should have been mentioned on the web page or conveyed to us earlier upon booking. I find it disingenuous that they could certainly reach out for a room upgrade, but not mention anything about all the advertised amenities not being available. Upon arriving to our room, we unpacked and went out to find a spot for dinner since we had planned eating on-site. Upon returning to the room, we noticed a musty smell we had not noticed earlier. Knowing it had been raining we did not think much about it, but my wife noticed a large wet area on the carpet by the couch (and assumed it was due to housekeeping). Around 10:15 we were startled to see 2 large areas on the ceiling rapidly dripping water over the couch. Enough that we had to place trash cans under both areas because of the quantity of water. We were both so tired after traveling all day, that I told my wife I would handle in the morning. Reporting this to the front desk, I was asked what I wanted to do......how about a different room that's not leaking? While we did receive an apology, and a new room, I expected to be reached out to by management or possibly the butler (who we never met or heard from) because of the inconvenience of repacking and moving rooms. A failure in customer service in my mind. The complimentary shuttle service around the immediate area, continental breakfast, and most staff members were positive highlights of the trip. And our second room didn't leak. In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed Santa Fe and the location of Hotel Santa Fe, but I'd suggest not booking or staying here until you confirm that the repairs have been completed to ensure the reality of your stay matches the unfulfilled promises of their inaccurate web page. The resort level price paid per night was not in-line for the almost absent amenities that was not made known until arrival. We will not be back, but wish them well on their efforts to restore what could be a great hotel.....it's just not even close right now. read more

We stayed in the Hacienda and they had a few hiccups including no working elevators that required dragging luggage up 3 flights of stairs which was awkward even with valet help. Not a romantic start. The spa was closed due to renovation which I was disappointed in and all the construction workers were taking up the 5 first parking spots in the lot which drove my husband (who works in construction) insane. He could not understand why they didn't unload their truck and then move out of the way. The worst part was they blocked them overnight AND all weekend when no one was working. I thought he would lose his mind. I loved the local art throughout the hotel and enjoyed the overall vibe. The free shuttle is very convenient and reliable and we definitely took advantage of that because parking in town is not the easiest. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. read more

I recently stayed at Hotel Santa Fe and was really impressed with the overall experience, especially for the price. While it may be on the lower end of a five-star luxury resort, it's an excellent option for someone who wants a touch of luxury while immersing themselves in Santa Fe's rich history. The hotel has a wonderful, rustic Southwestern vibe, and you can definitely feel the antiquity and history, which perfectly complements a trip to Santa Fe. The artwork throughout the hotel is absolutely priceless, and our quaint room had a lovely view of the pool and sculptures from its small balcony. One minor issue was that the thermostat in our room seemed to be for show, as it didn't respond to any adjustments. Thankfully, it was so beautiful outside that we just kept the doors open to let in the fresh summer air. Dining at Amaya - The on-site restaurant and bar, Amaya, offers a lot of variety, and the pricing is very fair. The restaurant's menu included some adventurous approaches to classic dishes, but the flavors didn't always come together. However, they absolutely nailed the classic Southwest cuisine. I would highly recommend the green chili enchilada and the huevos rancheros. For an appetizer, the trio of guacamole, salsa is a must-try. While the food was a mixed bag, the main issues were at the bar. The drinks weren't always impressive--my Old-Fashioned was served in a copper tin cup (typically for mules), and a bartender put a spilled olive from my martini, which had fallen on the bar mat, back into the drink. These small details kept the bar from being a top-notch experience. Service & Final Thoughts - While the staff was generally friendly, there were a few times where service wasn't stellar. For example, there was a misunderstanding about the in-room dining hours based on the welcome itinerary we were given. When we called for room service, we were told the kitchen was already closed, and the staff member was a bit curt about it. Despite these minor hiccups, the combination of the hotel's great location, delicious classic Southwest cuisine, and the feeling of history you get from staying here makes it an excellent value. We were drawn to Hotel Santa Fe by the stunning architecture that felt authentic to Santa Fe, as well as the fact that it had a pool and jacuzzi. It's the only Native American owned hotel and we enjoyed our stay overall. The positives were that the pool and jacuzzi were very enjoyable, especially the fact that the pool was heated. Ending our evenings in the jacuzzi was the perfect close to the day. Check-in was easy and staff was pleasant. The lounge area was comfortable with a restaurant and plenty of food options, as well as live performances by Native Americans. The location is walkable into town (about 15 minutes), but they offer an on-call shuttle service that will take you pretty much anywhere you need to go, door to door. The negatives were the sound. You could hear literally everything. Cars driving by, staff vacuums, people talking in the hall and through the walls. And they were vacuuming pretty early in the morning. Parking could be difficult to come by at peak times. The rooms are on the small side and you can tell that it's an older hotel. read more

We did not stay at the hotel but did have massage treatments at the spa. We called around noon on a Saturday, asking for two massages in late afternoon. Not only did they accommodate this last-minute request, but everyone that we spoke with on the phone and met in-person was lovely, helpful and kind. The spa is gorgeous - beautiful outside patio with an infrared sauna and several different seating areas inside. My therapist, Guadalupe was attentive, thoughtful and did great work. We were lucky to get in on a Saturday but will definitely come back the next time we are in Santa Fe. read more

I wish I could leave more stars. Unfortunately, this is not a place you want to come and rest. The doors are very heavy and slam shut on their own. If you want to sleep in till 6 AM, don't come here. Doors slamming from 5 AM until 10 AM. Not a very good job with cleaning the shower area either. There's numerous hairs hanging above the shower near the ceiling. I would spend the $200 up and go somewhere else that's a little bit more quiet and respectful for their guests. You could hear everybody speaking in the hallway from 5 AM onwards other than that it's a very lovely dining area and outdoor space, etc. Maybe it's just the room that I got. I went to the bar at Hotel Santa Fe yesterday afternoon (1/17/2026) during their Happy Hour. There was a lady server working that shift. I asked her a couple of questions. One question she asked me, which really shouldn't make any difference to her, was "Was I staying at the hotel or a local?" I told her I was local. I was able to get a seat by the fireplace, which was very nice. She proceeded to help other patrons, however, somehow ignored me. I was probably there 20 minutes or so. I walked out... I booked this hotel because it's native owned I thought it was upscale. It wasn't upscale. It tried but it failed. The front desk staff was friendly. Stay there whenever I'm in Santa Fe. Walkable to the square but the shuttle makes staying there worth it

This hotel has a bed bug infestation. Out of our group of 40 eight got bites and pest control found a bug in at least one of their rooms. The rooms were on different floors and wings which indicated a widespread problem The staff was pretty dismissive claiming that elm bugs were the problem. Management did not work with the nonprofit that my husband was working with and even claimed the bedbug bites were being caused by the "power of suggestion" even though multiple people were bit before the group made an announcement and consulted hotel staff. Gorgeous buildings and very nice rooms but not worth the risk of bringing back bedbugs. read more

Honestly I would not stay here again nor would I recommend it. Some of the staff was amazing. Very kind and welcoming. I appreciate the breakfast and breakfast staff in the morning. The women coming by to clean or refresh my room were also wonderful. I ate dinner at their restaurant one night and the team working were also fabulous. My room: within seconds of being in my room: a piece of the fireplace broke off in its own? Then I went to open the blinds in my room because it was dark in there, even though I arrived mid day with the sun out and my blinds were broken and wouldn't open? So I called the front desk and asked for a new room. They didn't have any available they said. Instead, they sent a handyman out, who was kind but couldn't fix the blinds and then put the jankitty piece to cover the fire place back on almost like a Lego and left. The piece fell off again on its own and I just left it. I didn't use the fire place because it didn't feel safe. And honestly, online that was an attractive quality so in real time translated to useless. I ordered room service once and the food was good. The guy delivering was kind. Location was close to Whole Foods and plenty of coffee houses and restaurants for lunch or dinner. Walking distance to downtown. When I checked out and got the bill I was over charged. An extra meal I never had. Plus other charges that weren't accurate. I had so many back and forth calls on the phone when I was at the airport waiting for my flight to fix it. Initially the staff - management was resistant : which was so annoying and frustrating. Then they would fix one (take off the charge) and send an update invoice and I had to call back for them to fix - take off the other one. I would stay elsewhere. This is our first time to stay at Hotel Hacienda and Spa. We were Celebrating our 11th year Anniversary. It comes with a heavy heart to explain our stay here. First off, this hotel has a very very manipulative check-in process. DO NOT pre-register your information. Wait until you get to the front desk. Let me explain why, We went through Hotel Hacienda and Spa website to book our stay. We paid the deposit and understood the balance remaining that was due at check in and we were ok with that. However, there was a pre-registration link that was sent and it prompted us to input our license, vehicle and Debit Card information. Now here is where their system is all messed up. Come to find out we were charged the Full stay with incidentals added without even aware. Mind you, since we used a debit card it withdrew the funds from our account. So we were out the full amount plus the deposit we paid and on top of that, we still were suppose to still pay for our stay on check out time. Now this messed up our whole budget and left a sour taste in our mouth. We never authorized them to charge anything to our debit card. BECAUSE their link was to have everything on file.( to help make the check in process a seamless transaction). The way we found out about this mishap, we double checked our bank account prior and realized they made a mistake. We called and where transferred to many different parties to get this situated. After driving over 10 hours to get there and the front desk concierge was very rude and spoke to use as if we were in the wrong and was stubborn to were she didn't even want to hear us out. Thank God the manager was there to help resolve the issue as best as possible. And tried to make things right. Now this brings us to our room. We stayed in the king size room with fireplace. And when we called and confirmed our room, we were suppose to have the room with a balcony and fireplace. But they incorrectly booked us in the king room with Fireplace. Now this isn't what was explained or expected at time of booking. The size of the room is very small and congested. The design of the decor wasn't up to par. There wasn't enough storage room for two people. I couldn't even unpack my carry on suitcase. The bathroom is outdated and just makes you annoyed with lack of space for your own personal items. The only storage for the is the wardrobe they provide, mind you, its big enough for 1 person and not 2. The Fireplace barely lights up, not anything like the picture provided. This brings me to the sheets and bedding. Don't expect anything close to luxury. The sheets were stiff and had this unclean smell to them. Even after we requested new bedding. The Bed was so soft, I had to end up sleeping on the couch and at times the floor because of my back. The very thing that upset me too, was the fact I requested to surprise my wife with flowers and chocolate covered strawberries. They delivered some half dying flowers with little water and no even a full dozen of strawberries. I was very disappointed because other facilities make sure to go the extra little inch to make this request special. And I felt cheated and disappointed how horrible the flower arrangement came out. In conclusion, This was ended up being a horrible stay and we ended up cutting our trip short. This hotel isn't luxury at all for how much we pay for it. I've had better experiences staying at El Dorado and I paid less than this hotel. To put the cherry on top, I was charged for complimentary items on the first day of their mistake. I was exhausted to even argue about anything. And maybe that's why they make things difficult so they could still get their payments and you'll be to tired to complain. I would recommend staying at a different facility, resort or Hotel. The pictures on their website are very misleading. The rooms are small, dark, dingy and are big enough for 1 person. The good: Nice staff however the morning youngsters are clueless and didnt ask how our 350 per night stay was. They have 1 shuttle that was nice and convenient. The fireplace when operational in the lobby was warm and cool. Unfortunately they let it die before 10pm. Saturday night they had a great performance by Lakota the chief. He played many instruments and had accompanied music on via stereo system. They have a small outside whirlpool and heated pool. We wanted to use the whirlpool but it was taken over by a group of guys. The room was an adequate suite with a balcony that fit 2 small chairs. A super plus they gave us champagne when we checked in for our anniversary. My wife put it on the reservation. We liked that the hotel was native American owned and themed. The bad: Dirty floors in the bathroom. You actually tracked mud on the carpet. The appliances are ancient and no coffee maker. There was coffee and tea in the lobby by each elevator; only 2 floors and by the lobby bar. Our microwave was a Tappan manual one that was probably 25 years old. The refrigerator was very small. The AC didn't work consistently. They charge 15 dollars for resort fee. I inquired about it. The said it covered wireless, shuttle, pool and whirlpool. The hat a fitness center in the othe building. Those rooms had fireplaces and butler service for a lot more. Upgrading to a suite was all we needed. The regular rooms were very small. The Spa was a joke in the other building. It consisted of an empty lobby and 2 separate treatment rooms. A 50 minute massage was 150 to 200 dollars and a couples massage almost 400 dollars. Totally outagous! They had no giftshop and no where to buy a botlle of water or pop and no water fountains. We found by the conference rooma a water bottle filler. There also was no concierge. We went into other hotels and they sall had one. Overall my wife like the place. I thought it was fine but not for 430 bucks a night with taxes and fees. We had to pay 1 night in advance. It is located 1 mile from the cental downtown. It was not an easy walk crossing streets and changing elevation. The bad. read more

Sometimes it's hard to know where to begin when writing a review and this is one of those times. I'll start with the staff; they're nice and helpful. Moving on, the rooms are very small and old. The streets outside have constant loud cars and other sounds that you will hear throughout the night. Obviously, that's not the hotel's fault, but you should know that you won't get the most relaxing night of sleep. The "suites" are barely the size of a regular hotel room but do have a microwave and mini fridge in them. Everything could use a little maintenance and updating, but maybe that's part of the charm they're going for with a hacienda feel. The restaurant was rather disappointing and over-priced. I spent $60 on a lunch for one. The food was meh and so were the drinks. The pool is small but was fun for the kids to play around in. The front door is locked at 10pm for safety reasons, which made me wonder why but I never asked. read more

Stayed at the amazing Adobe styled Hotel Santa Fe Hacienda for a couple of nights. It's the only Native American owned hotel in Santa Fe. The decor with the variations of artwork is a joy to see. From sculptures outside to rugs, earthenware, jewelry and the like indoors. There are two distinct areas of the hotel, the regular rooms and the hacienda suites. We had a beautiful fireplace in our room with butler service. They have breakfast and happy hours available along with local artisans performances on selected nights. Upon check in I had the most professional male and female that both had a hand at helping me get checked in, familiarized with the area to help me pick a location for dinner that fit my budget and appetite. They did not disappoint in recommending the CowGirl BBQ which was outstanding. The next morning things went downhill quickly. The dining room servers enjoyed their conversation amongst themselves so much you could hear them over anything else in the dining room and they were not discrete about it. I told my male server to please leave my personal items and food in place as i simply needed to run back to my room. Upon returning my personal items and food were being removed from the table ending my breakfast on their schedule NOT MINE. I then headed to the front desk to check out looking forward to the same helpful attentive staff I had upon checking in, unfortunately those kind staffers were not working the front desk. I addressed the gentleman and asked for a printout of my receipt, and he advised me on incidentals could be printed and if I needed a receipt for the hotel stay and I would have to do it through the third party, I used to purchase the tickets. I replied, the last hotel in Dallas did that for me and that I wish there would be consistency with checkout regardless of who I book my stay with. The male attendant became obviously irritated and spoke to me louder than was necessary and aggressively threw a company business card on the counter not in my hand and said I could take it up with the hotel but nothing he could do. No, he may not have been able to do anything about the company policy, however his attitude and delivery told me everything about how this gentleman does not serve his company at all ZERO professionalism. He could have stayed calm regardless of my complaining about inconsistency within the hotels, he should have had empathy and kindness and delivered it all with pleasantries and graciousness. I see this as a normal check out that went incredibly horrible because of a staffers attitude towards paying customers. This was my first trip to Santa Fe, I find the city and surrounding areas to be beautiful and look forward to my next visit. Had it NOT BEEN for my two incidents back to back I'd be open to staying at The Santa Fe again however there's to many beautiful hotels and landscapes to explore. I have been in Hospitality for over 28 years and still work in upper management to this day. I hope the Santa Fe will better select and train their employees in a way that will bring guest in not just for one stay but for return stays again and again. The rooms were a little pricey, and the vibe was kind of older retirees. I felt we were one of the younger couples in the hotel. The outside is very impressive, but the room is sort of disappointing. It didn't seem any better than any other hotel room imo. In fact, the tile floor in the bathroom was 1990's or older pink tiles. It's like they spent money to redo the sink and shower but hope you don't look down. And the room wasn't all that big, standard size. The carpet in the hallways were also dated and dimly lit. Kind of like an old lodge feeling. I did use the gym which was in a separate building above the spa. We also used the hot tub at night and my husband jumped in the pool for a second but it was low 30° at night. The best part of the hotel is location, although some might wish it was in Old Town. It was a very short drive to Old Town and they did have free shuttles, but we didn't want to stand around in that cold air waiting for it later on. read more

To start, I stayed in the Hacienda section of the hotel. I did a lot of research on hotels in the area (I've only been to Santa Fe once) and decided on the Hacienda and Spa at Hotel Santa Fe based on the pictures, luxe description and amenities. We haven't traveled a ton in the past couple of years and I was looking forward to a little pampering. The people who work in the hotel and haciendas are very nice and extremely friendly. 5 stars for that. I liked the nightly reception that included snacks and wine/beer. The views from the terrace are lovely as well. As for the room and amenities, I guess I was just expecting something more. There was no water supplied to the room and the minibar was just an empty semi-cold mini fridge. The description noted that we were supposed to have both of these amenities. Our room was extremely dark, almost impossible to apply makeup without being in the bathroom, which was also very dark. The air-conditioner had a hard time keeping up, even with the weather being somewhat cool outside. Because of COVID, housekeeping is only available upon request. Parking was good. There are a few food options within walking distance and the railway district is literally right across the street. The restaurant onsite is excellent (separate review). There also a large lobby and bar in the main portion of the hotel. It's about a 20 minute walk to town. The hotel has a shuttle service and the drivers are fantastic and when things are running smoothly, it's a great service. Unfortunately it's hard to keep up with the demand of a full hotel and there were a couple of situations where the front desk staff forgot to enter our pick up details and we were left waiting at night for 30 minutes plus. I probably wouldn't stay here again. There's nothing really wrong with it, it just wasn't what I was expecting. Being part Native American I choose to stay here. From the moments I walked in I was treated with disdain. The service people don't seem to want to provide service-they wish you would just go away. The usb charging ports did not work... when I asked for them to be replaced the service desk was incredibly rude they actually "huffed." I also offered that my towels did not need to be charged nor my bed made for my 5 night stay. He ttreied me like I was an idiot: "Well just put the do not disturb on the door (huff)." read more

If there wasn't Covid, this would be one of the best places on earth - or let's say in Santa Fe - to stay. In fact, we stayed there many years earlier (in 2003). Warm interior of this adobe style building, care to detail in every room. Unfortunately, the many opportunities to further shine (breakfast buffet, socializing lobby, etc.) fell somewhat victim to the pandemic - except maybe the included Amaya restaurant. The pool could be deeper. The front staff was forthcoming and charming - and when we notified them that we had forgotten a few items, they instantaneously fedexed them to the home address. I really enjoyed our stay here! My only complaint was that the view from our room was a broken gate and a stop light, but apart from that I loved it. We stayed at the Hacienda section of the hotel which was so worth it. It is a separate building that you need a key to get into. There are a few perks staying there like free happy hour drinks and food and free coffee and pastries each morning. The room was the perfect size. Loved the bed!! And loved the fire pit. Did not like that the tv is on the side and doesn't come out (felt impossible to watch anything). The service was great. Everything was quick and everyone was kind. LOVED that they have the car that takes you anywhere in the area. Made the hotel 100% better. I would literally stay there just because of that. If I go back to Santa Fe I will 100% stay there again. Only con is that it's not quite close enough to the downtown area, although it is close enough that you can walk there, but the car service gets rid of that problem. read more

Overall, the hotel was fine. The rooms were small and the bed was pretty uncomfortable, but nothing too unusual for a hotel. Things were clean and quiet and if you're just looking for a bed to sleep in, it's fine. The staff was pleasant and the hotel had a nice ambience (native american art and calm music in the lobby) and based on just my stay I might have given it a higher score. There were a few things I didn't like though. The first is that they (I think, see below about the refusal to provide an invoice) had a mandatory "resort fee" beyond the room rate that covered the normal things you'd expect (internet, electricity, cramped gym with some worn equipment and all the other fancy extras the hotel had . . .). I think this is an unsavory practice and I have a hard time trusting any business that utilizes it. Furthermore, when I checked out, they told me they were charging my card for incidentals (we had some drinks/food at the bar), but were unable to provide an invoice of what they were for since their system was down. They said they would send me one later (they never did) and when I followed up they never got back to me. The amount they were charging me seemed like a lot, but was probably fine, I just find it a bit off-putting if you simultaneously have mandatory charges and refuse to provide a receipt so I can see what it is you actually charged me for. In any event, when booking here, I would assume what you actually pay will be higher than whatever they advertise as their rate. read more

This was our first time staying at the Hotel Santa Fe and I would definitely stay here again. It is in an awesome location right by the Railyard district (shops, movie theater, restaurants and galleries). Near downtown and easy location to get anywhere in Santa Fe. We walked most places! We had a basic King room with a small balcony looking out on the pool. It was nice, although the bathroom was a little on the small size. We enjoyed the pool, had breakfast at their restaurant Amaya and drank coffee in the lobby in the mornings. It was a great stay. Highly recommend! read more
