I once again had a great experience to help relieve the knots I had in my back, neck pain, and above all else - she was able to massage my scar tissue from a ruptured Achilles. When I arrived there was parking available in the back and she had a private space in a small office building and a cozy room for my massage. The massage table and blankets were warm and very comfortable. I have had a long history of bad massage experiences. Some have been on the lower end and others on the higher end. I always like to use Yelp to do my research and that's exactly how I came across the Healing Lotus. Booking the appointment was a bit tricky...I believe in the end my wife wound up doing it for me. Carrie works for herself which is nice because you only have to deal directly with her. When I arrived to her place of business I realized it's only her that operates out of there which is also a plus because the experience is very personable and doesn't feel rushed. She really took her time to hear me out about what I was experiencing. I was under a great deal of stress at the time and I tend to carry a lot of tension in my neck area. She made the area of focus my neck and really took the time to target that and also checked in that the amount of pressure she was using was right. She also explained how the first massage was going to go. She was going to work on loosening the tense area and that on the next visit she would be able to dig deeper. She sounded like she really knew her stuff and was very thorough in explaining. That experience was great and for that I'm giving her 5 stars...even though the initial booking process was tricky to navigate. I never had the follow up appointment and am currently waiting on her reply as I've texted and also left a voicemail but have not heard back yet. I also recall attempting a follow-up in the past and I gave up as I never heard back. She is that good though (5 stars)...if you can get booked. I came in for a prenatal massage. I had never experienced one but since I have a lot of muscle pain during my last month of pregnancy I thought to give it a try. I texted Carrie to schedule a time and date and she was able to fit me in the following day. With this being my first time Carrie made me feel comfortable and she explained what she was going to do before the massage. The oil/lotion or whatever she uses on your body makes you feel moisturized. My husband touched my arm and he said I felt extremely soft. So Carrie does indeed use nice products. Went to see Carrie for the first time this evening, based on Yelp reviews and the fact I hadn't treated myself to a massage in over two years. I loved that she was super local to me and available on short notice on a Sunday (possibly just a coincidence, not a stated guarantee), which is always my preferred massage day after my long morning run/prep before the workweek. Anyway, Carrie is obviously very experienced in what to ask in advance and in how to adjust pressure when facing sensitivity to knots. I was totally impressed with her attention to the parts I pointed out (neck/shoulders, lower legs/feet) within the scheme of the whole-body massage. She uses lotion rather than oil, which I certainly appreciate. I prefer to be softened rather than greased up as for a bbq. As of my writing, it sounds as though she's been at her studio for about 3 years and has expanded from one room into the adjacent spaces. She's working on signage. In the meantime, I hope she updates her website regarding pricing, because I was a little surprised to learn at the end of service that the charge was not $65/hr, per the website, but $80.
