Came in today for an hour massage and was greeted by Judy. She guided to a massage room that was quiet and clean. Throughout the hour, Judy massaged from head to toe. I felt numerous knots being worked on and relaxed by her. She spent lots of time around my upper back and neck (assume since she noticed those are the area where most of my tension were at thanks for working on the computer all day). Will be back next time for hour and half so she can have more time to work on my calf area. No language barrier unlike other similar places since Judy speaks English. This a great massage place in the heart of San Leandro. You don't know by looking on the outside but inside is a very clean, tranquil area with a variety of different rooms. The price is very affordable, especially if you pay cash. I think it's like $69 for an hour cash or $79 with card. Even then, for the quality of the message I was impressed. We did a couples massage. I went to Thailand to learn Thai massage so I'm always curious to see what kind of massage training folks have. Well, at Solace I got a damn good Thai massage, following the aryuvedic lines and including passive yoga stretches. It was a VERY good massage. We have been in many massage parlors and we know the masseurs depend on tips, so we had cash ready to go and we're not bothered by their readiness to receive their tip. I booked a 90 minute Deep Tissue Massage as a walk-in and was open to seeing any therapist since it was my first visit. After pre-paying with a credit card (they also offer a cash rate), I filled out a simple form to mark my focus areas: shoulders, under the clavicles, and lower back. Cindy took great care of me. She was kind, gave me time to settle in, and handled my personal items thoughtfully. The massage was one of the most intentional and well structured I've ever had. Her pressure was consistent, and she spent extra time on my left shoulder after noticing it needed more attention without me even having to say anything. Every minute felt purposeful and tailored to my needs. After my visit, I read a few reviews that mentioned concerns about tipping pressure. I just want to say that my experience was nothing like that. I left a 25% tip and went on my way. No pressure or awkwardness at all. Language was not an issue with Cindy. She took out her phone to translate my questions about booking in advance (which was a bit complex). That was a smart move. I was a loyal customer who have recommended friends and family cuz I used to love this place (no frills, clean, walk-in ok, mostly great masseuses except for "Lisa") but I'll be going elsewhere. The main reason is that I've been having issues using MY PRE-PAID massages here. The prices listed on the website are either not up-to-date or I got scammed. It says $550 for 10 hours (even to this day, 1/13/25) but they will make you pay around $600 (or $660...can't remember the exact amount, cuz it's been around a year or so and paid in cash) for 11 hours. I enjoyed the convenience of a package and hate going to the atm, but this is where my preference comes and bites me in the ass. They will happily take your money and then write on the rewards freebie card (like a normal Buy 10 get 1 free) that you paid for 11 massages, but the owner Emily will end up questioning you each time you try using your prepaid credit. During the initial purchase, I remember her recording the amount paid and my name on some note pad but this note pad will never be referenced again. Apparently, the customer has to show proof or be subjected to hella questions in order for her to believe that the card she sold/issued you is legit. She even questions me when it is clearly her own handwriting on the card, asking me how much I paid, when I paid and who I paid. It seems there's no standardized method for them to mark the cards and it's an issue when you try to get 90 minute massages. She has had to rewrite the card because of this issue, and then the next time you use the card, she will question why the card doesn't look like what it should look like (ie, showing 10 hours). My most recent visit was even more ridiculous. Emily's husband was there and took payment up front, so he marked the card, took a photo, and then supposedly sent Emily the photo. After my massage, the husband was no longer there and the masseuses didn't believe me when I told them that payment was made cuz the husband marked the card. They called Emily who proceeded to interrogate me on speaker about the dang card again. I explained that her own husband should've texted her a photo of the card, and asked her to check, but it did not help. I even asked her to call her own husband and she won't. Emily raised her voice at me and acted if I'm trying to scam them (ironically, I felt the same way) and we basically argued over what happened. I'm not even sure why the masseuse was unaware that I've made payment upfront but either no communication was made or she just didn't hear/understand English (like most of the staff there). There was an older white gentleman (maybe the husband's dad, or a family member, as he didn't seem like a customer) there who witnessed the whole thing and was trying to help but he gave up and walked away cuz of the communication issues. Please change your business practice and either do better tracking or just simply don't sell packages since you don't have an effective way to let people use what you've sold them. If you are accepting upfront payment, let the masseuse know that the client already paid, and have a method to track this! This has been unnecessarily stressful (super ironic, since I'm there to de-stress) and will be looking for another massage spot cuz of all the BS that I've had to deal with. WARNING: 1. DO NOT BUY MULTIPLE MASSAGES (PACKAGES). AND 2. DO NOT PREPAY FOR YOUR MASSAGE. read more

First off, They did accommodate me for a last minute request. I want to like this place, but when the masseuse doesn't check in with you regarding the pressure, it's a little bother some. The room was a little cold and the table could have been warmer. My back has been killing me for a few days, due to probably work sitting so I thought I'd do one on my lunch break. I wasn't able to fully enjoy as some of pressure was tender. However I did request a hot stone add on and that helped as was able to crack part of my back which means the muscles had loosened a bit. My masseuse did wear a mask, which I appreciated. So the best part was that at the end I thought it was going to be a bit more that what I thought. Not so bad. I made an appointment today for 4pm for a Swedish massage but they gave me a combo of all types of massages including deep tissue which I CANNOT handle and did not ask for. It was not enjoyable. Every move was too quick like she was in a rush. She was yanking and pulling me in all types of directions. I felt like I was getting my ass beat. The Swedish part was the ONLY PART that I enjoyed. But when she used the hot towels, she literally plopped it on my back and aggressively wiped the oil away. I could not believe my experience here. It felt too long and I did mention to her at some point that what she was doing hurts and she did lighten her pressure. But she would end up applying pressure somewhere else. I wanted to like this place because of all the great reviews. But now that I'm reading some of them, they seem kind of suspicious. Also just read the owners response to the negative reviews and she seems rude. I gave 2 stars cause I do not want to be the one to ruin a business but if I'm being selfish I would give this place 1 star. UPDATE: to confirm of the owner's nasty attitude.. DONT COME HERE FOLKS! I was quite disappointed with my experience because this place has such good reviews. In the beginning of my massage, the lady kept slapping a towel all over my body which was unpleasant while she massaged over the towel even though there was a sheet already over me. The massage was okay in general, there were a few times where I felt like she was just kind of gently pinching areas. Then when I was checking out, the lady processing my payment lost the receipt she was supposed to give me... I don't even understand how that happened and she wasn't able to reprint me another one. I needed a much deserved TLC this weekend and a friend of mine have told me about this new place she have gone to that she got an amazing deep tissue massage, so I decided to try it out. I mean why not? I always like to explore and try new places and new things. And guess what? they did not disappoint. I called to make an appointment, which was really easy to do coz this massage place is still pretty new, is located in the corner of this cute little inland shops so there was a lot of parking available around the area. When I got there, I met the owner Emily. She was really nice, and she briefly explained to me the differences of each particular massages on their menu. I opted to go with the deep tissue massage like my friend did, and Emily that day had another client booked so my masseuse was Amanda and she took care of me really good. She worked on the stress knots on my shoulder and back and her hand pressure was just perfect, it wasn't too soft yet it wasn't too hard that it hurts. I went for the 90 mins massage (it was sooo worth it!) and gave Amanda a generous tip. Then I decided to give this place a shout out because I had a really good experience from going in there to feeling really relaxed after my massage.
