What started out as a pleasant experience during a difficult time ended up being a nightmare of service provided by this dealership. I was traveling through the area and my recently purchased Kia stopped running while driving. I had my vehicle towed to the nearest Kia dealership which was in Hagerstown. Initially everyone seemed very helpful. I received a call the following Monday saying they'd get to my vehicle as soon as possible, I even got an email informing me of a diagnostic appointment that Wednesday afternoon. By midday Thursday I hadn't heard from anyone so I called and left a message that would not be returned. I called again Friday, spoke to someone different and they had my original contact call me back. The information I received at that time was that the Wednesday appointment was "just so my car was in the system" and my car was "next in line" but likely wouldn't be done until the following Tuesday. At that point they would have had my vehicle for 10 days without even looking at it. Unfortunately I didn't have many options for an alternative other than wait. Tuesday comes and goes, no call. By Wednesday (day 11) I'm overly frustrated. I call back, my car had not been looked at and was not "next". I make the decision to have my vehicle towed from Hagerstown to Morgantown, an extra $1000 expense that should not have been necessary. I'm giving them a 1 star because there isn't anything lower. I was traveling through Hagerstown when my brand-new Kia engine light came on and I had a burning smell. I stopped and realized the service department was closed so I spoke to a sales rep. As soon as he realized I wasn't buying a car, he offered no help, no advice, nothing. So while I was frustrated, my wife and I went to a hotel and said we would try back the next morning. I arrived the next morning to the service department. He told me that he only had lube guys available and would not give any advice, make a call, nothing. Caveat emptor Buyer beware of cars sold here "as is" and they will repeat this over and over if any problems. They will accept ANY trade in car and then resell it "as is" without even performing safety checks. Within 2 months of having car- check engine light. Took it to a local shop and their is Nothing besides getting the engine replaced. Took it back to dealership and "sales team" only response was... you bought it "as is" and laughed.. The service manager was great and did a comp engine soak, but the problem is NOT fixed.. Now I have to check my oil almost daily because the car just eats it. Do not shop here for used cars. I went to Hagerstown Kia twice in 3 months and got an oil change . The first one I found that I kept running out of antifreeze and they said that's normal . I then went for another oil change took it home I found there were no fluids like antifreeze in it . So I had to fill it up . Called service he didn't care . He said that's normal you can run out of antifreeze every 2 months . I get out of town the vehicle breaks down it had an antifreeze leak this whole time but they said it's normal to put antifreeze in the vehicle all the time . Update below initial post... My mother in-law went to buy a vehicle after her husband passed. She went alone and they ripped her off. They added a $3,000 market adjustment on top of the MSRP. A $364 accessory package which they won't say exactly what it is. Additionally they charged their $299 dealer processing fee twice (once on the sticker that had the market adjustment price on it and another time on the pink slip). They denied charging her twice when she called them about it. I ran the numbers and they most certainly charged her twice. So in total they stole $3,663 dollars from here. In my mind they are no better than those third world country telemarketers that steal people's money. Update... after sending them a picture with the papers. My mother-in-law finally talked to the sales manager. They did finally admit to charging the processing fee twice. He said the accessory package was a pinstripe that was supposed to go on the vehicle but they hadn't had a chance to put it on yet. She said OK so you're going to refund me that money? He said no, I could sell your car for five times what you bought it for I'm not giving you that money back. She said OK good then take my car back and sell for five times that. He said we don't take returns. They are going to refund the duplicate $299 processing fee just not the $364 for a pinstripe that wasn't on the vehicle. read more

I spoke with a very rude salesman named Jim over the phone and in person whom appeared very lazy, not interested, and didn't want to answer any questions or seem to want to work for the sale. Jim seemed like he only wanted to make a very quick and easy sale and didn't want to actually invest time answering my questions or negotiating a price. This dealership is presenting MSRP with additional add ons and other marked up fees and Nobody pays MSRP prices. I told Jim I wanted another salesman because his pure laziness and condescending attitude made me very angry and I wasn't going to give this rude and lazy var salesman thousands of dollars. He then told me that he really didn't care if I went to someone else and another young skinny male helped us. The young skinny male's name was Stone whom seemed a just a little bit nicer but didn't really seem to more enthusiastic or much more friendlier- no smile, not very friendly for a salesman. I ended up leaving and not purchasing anything. I went directly across the street and spent $30,000 at Mazda. I told the Mazda reps about my horrible experience at Kia across the street and they laughed and told me that all their customers say the same exact thing and have had horrible experiences at Kia. Today I took my new 2022 Kia Rio in for maintenance. Jennifer Gleckler did a awesome job helping me out and explaining the process and what was needed done to my car. Sean Turner was the tech that ran the diagnostics and changed my oil. This was my first time in Kia, the waiting area was clean and comfortable. They had 90's pop radio playing and it was very entertaining, even some of the sales reps were singing along. Even the maintenance man was friendly and kind. I first met Jen a couple months ago when I first bought the car when I was having some tech issues, she helped me out with 5 minutes left before closing and was able to figure out what was wrong within minutes and fixed it. First. We are a Kia family so this in not a bad review for Kia. They are great cars. That being said Hagerstown Kia couldn't pay me to come to their location again. Their customer service is terrible. Their service department took complete advantage of my daughter. She was supposed to receive free oil changes per her agreement when she saved and purchased her own car at 17 and Hagerstown Kia would not hold up the agreement and ended up charging her $80 for an oil change! This crew made me feel like the most important human that's ever entered their showroom . . . and I wasn't even buying a new car. We primarily worked with Richard, but everyone in the showroom made us feel special - opening the door and greeting us warmly, offering drinks and snacks, making small talk (but not too much), just checking on us periodically while the paperwork and detailing was being done. They seemed to be giving us and our used car the Hagerstown Kia red carpet treatment - paired my phone, created "Home" on the Nav system, helped me program the radio presets, basically gave me a tour of the car so I knew where important stuff was for my longish drive home. The internet has changed the way every business operates these days and taken a lot of the service out of it. But Hagerstown Kia has both the internet and the service figured out. Both purchased my vehicle here and just went in yesterday for service. Got an excellent price on the vehicle and have been very happy with it. No problems for 4 years now. (It was used 1 year.) Yesterday's service is what most impressed me, though: I've been to 4 Kia dealerships in 4 different states with this vehicle, and this has been hands-down the best. I was served by J.R., who is an excellent communicator and a very patient and kind person. So often at dealerships I feel like the service rep is just spitting jargon at me so I'll worry and spend more money. J.R. did make recommendations for future service, but said nothing is urgent right now so I can go home and decide later if I want to. No pressure. Just informative, clear, and helpful. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because, over the phone, I was told that my safety recall fix would take 1 hour. When I arrived, I was told it could take up to 3 1/2 hours. That's a pretty big discrepancy, and suggests that the service department isn't communicating well with the ladies who take appointments. In the end, my visit lasted somewhere between 1 and 3 1/2 hours, but I had also added an oil change, a horn check, and a car wash in the meantime, plus J.R. warned me about the possible wait as soon as I arrived. So in the end the wait was understandable; I just think the ladies taking appointments need better information! Will definitely be back here for service in the future. We just bought our new Kia Soul here yesterday and we were completely impressed with the exceptional service we received, particularly from Richard K. and Ciro. We'd looked at other dealerships but Richard's positive attitude and commitment to customer service starting with our initial email really sealed the deal for us. It was a positive and painless experience from start to finish. Even though the car we bought was brand new, they insisted on detailing it before we got into it to take it home. We purchased our 2015 Kia Soul brand new. We were very excited to get the car. In 2016 we started having problems with the car (understanding this happens with even new vehicles). We had problems with the car starting in cold weather. Every time we took the car in for service they would tell us there was nothing wrong and if the car starts on warmer days and not cold days it must be something we were doing. Even though the car was always garage kept. Finally in the winter of 2017 the car stopped starting altogether. Kia had to run several diagnostics on the car and after a week finally decided it needed a new starter and battery. Stating that because it has a keyless remote that the starters will go out faster than normal. At this time the car had under 50,000 miles. Since this repair my check engine light will periodically come on. Because it isn't happening when it is in the shop, they state there is nothing can do about the issue. The other issue we have had with Hagerstown Kia is recently my breaks starting making a horrible noise. I took it in and they said the breaks were down to metal and actually ruined on rotor. The problem I have with this is we have only ever had the car serviced at Kia. Oil changes and all. During the oil changes they are supposed to do a multi point check on the vehicle. Had they been doing this, wouldn't they have noticed the breaks wearing out? With everything that has happened it's easy to say we would not purchase from Kia again. read more

I went into this dealership recently off of the good faith of a conversation over the phone with a sales man, and wow what a mistake. All in five minutes they insulted my intelligence, were rude, and didn't even try to earn my business. So, Without further a due..... I explained If we could get the numbers right, I would be driving a pretty good distance (5 hours) because they had a truck I was looking very hard for and having a hard time finding. I also explained I had multiple offers on my vehicle for trade in, and if I were to drive that far, I would need them to at least match my lowest offer, (I sent them videos, pictures and all the info needed from my trade). We ran the numbers over the phone and while they were not exactly where I wanted, they were very close, close enough to make the trip and I was told "We will find it in the trade". Fair enough, so I made the trip. After test driving the vehicle, I asked the salesman if any of the previous owners had smoked in it. I was told that what I was smelling was a "perfume that was used when cleaning vehicles". Everyone knows the smell of cigarettes in fabric. No one mistakes that smell. The vehicle literally smelled like a smoking room at a cheap motel. Plus I found a cigarette butt under the driver seat soooo yea. So, he lied, while basically saying I didn't know what I was smelling and was completely wrong. Then after dropping the tailgate, I noticed there was no bed liner in the bed. I voiced this concern, and said "Maybe that's something we can----" But was cutoff in the middle of a sentence and was told "no, were not moving any on anything on this truck", with that sarcastic "laugh while talking voice". So there's your rudeness showing. Someone with positive customer service and morale could have said, "Well lets go talk about it and see what we can do." Then let me down easy later with, "I just don't think we could do it" Not that it would hurt a dealership to do something like set a cheap insert liner in a bed to make a sale. Then comes the fun part. Even after being made to feel stupid, and rudely interrupted, I still very much wanted this truck and was very much ready to pull the trigger, so we went to sit and talk numbers. He brings my paper with my trade info over and sets down and says, your vehicle needs a lot of work. (Now granted it is no diamond in the rough. It has high mileage and is 12 years old, but its not nickel and diming me and is reliable.) He proceeds to tell me that my vehicle needs a new transmission. I know this could not be true, because A- I have had zero issues with my transmission, and B- my ASE certified buddy, just flushed and refilled it, while replacing all filters and gaskets (due to the high mileage). I was also told they had a hard time starting my vehicle. (this happened while I was gone on the test drive and not around to witness this) Ive had this vehicle for quite some time, and have never had an issue starting it,.....except that time my battery died :/ So all of a sudden, the day I go to trade it in, while Im not there, it magically doesn't start....hmmmm... Then he proceeds to offer me $800 less on the trade in than anyone else. This was the last straw as I shook his hand, said have a good evening and walked out of the dealership with out so much as a "wait, what if we....." There was no attempt at all to get my business. read more

I went there in November 2013 because I had a wonderful transaction with a salesguy 11 years ago that has since retired. I thought I'd get a great deal trading in my old Kia, and I trusted the new guy's Christian quotes screensaver on his computer. I told him the next day I'm sorry, I changed my mind, he said I couldn't do that. I found out later that I have THREE DAYS to change my mind. Now I have non stop transmission issues with this new "certified preowned" car, but they can't do anything about it because it doesn't happen all the time and the times I take the car there, they can't duplicate the issue! I hate them, I hate this car, and I will never forgive them or stop telling everyone I know how dishonest they are! read more

I was able to complete the credit app online and Scott contacted me back immediately. I told him exactly what I wanted my payment to be and he told me which cars were in my price point. He never tried to pressure us into a higher price range or made us feel like he didn't want to deal with a used car sale.
