The wife picked out a 2022 Hyundai Sante Fe Limited. The first car they showed us reeked of cigarette smoke. Then the Santa Fe. Every day we'd find something that didn't work. It had 4 USB port, but 3 were for charging only. The one and only USB port that connected the phone to the car was pushed down into it's slot and couldn't be reached. There was no voice for the navigation system and the voice activation didn't work. We took it back twice, they sent us to the Hyundai dealer ship. They just scratched their heads and didn't know what to do. I discovered that next to the cup holder was a slot for your cell phone. It had a charging pad in the bottom through a flap. However, when I shined a flashlight I could see food crumbs, loose change, and various pieces of garbage blocking the pad. All of these should have been fixed before selling it. Most of the employees at this Carmax struck me as lazy and just wanted to do the bare minimum to get paid. When I bought the car I financed through them knowing I'd get a better rate through my own bank on Monday. They said I had 3 days to arrange my bank to overnight them a check. When I returned the lemon they said it would take 10 to 14 days to get a check to my bank. Now that's the BS right there. Carmax Hagerstown. Lazy, can't do their jobs, the place is manned/managed by people who want to get paid for the least amount of work. Don't go here. They suck.

I was traveling through the area and my recently purchased Kia stopped running while driving. I had my vehicle towed to the nearest Kia dealership which was in Hagerstown. Initially everyone seemed very helpful. I received a call the following Monday saying they'd get to my vehicle as soon as possible, I even got an email informing me of a diagnostic appointment that Wednesday afternoon. By midday Thursday I hadn't heard from anyone so I called and left a message that would not be returned. I called again Friday, spoke to someone different and they had my original contact call me back. The information I received at that time was that the Wednesday appointment was "just so my car was in the system" and my car was "next in line" but likely wouldn't be done until the following Tuesday. At that point they would have had my vehicle for 10 days without even looking at it. Unfortunately I didn't have many options for an alternative other than wait. Tuesday comes and goes, no call. By Wednesday (day 11) I'm overly frustrated. I call back, my car had not been looked at and was not "next". I make the decision to have my vehicle towed from Hagerstown to Morgantown, an extra $1000 expense that should not have been necessary. I experienced nothing but lies hidden behind polite, chippers voices.

This experience was pleasurable as I told them to take off GAP, Warranty, and anything else they could try to add to increase the price of that vehicle. This came with little to no push back from the finance specialist, which is mindful as most places attempt to oversell their vehicle to make money off the interest payments. I didn't feel like I was being forced into a car I didn't want at that instance. I am now buying a newer vehicle 2026 from them again, there again I am negotiating price changes with little pushback which is a pleasant experience being mindful of how car sales are typically predatory. I like their shop mechanics when I have an issue, it gets fixed without having to come back.

When I got to the dealership after my very nice sale person Seth finished the paperwork. Another manager Jason said we can only give you $1500. I wasted two hours of my time and this price was decided about 3 days ago. Jason was trying to justice the new price saying the car key didn't work when the sales person and I confirmed it worked correctly. We had no issues with locking and unlocking the door with the key. Then he said the engine lite was on when we notified them and they were aware of this 3 days ago. Bad customer service they should have never verbally committed to $2100.
