I would advise everyone to steer clear of Sharrett. I am aware of occurrences where they claimed to have performed services on a vehicle, such as tire rotation, and have been proven otherwise. I would not trust them for a minute. My last and final interaction with this business was the worst of all. I recently took my GMC Acadia in for service. Less than a month later I ended up requiring a replacement for a battery which I originally purchased and had installed through this department no more than a year prior. After picking up the vehicle from the battery change, the VERY next time driving it I began having electrical issues that had not once occurred prior to them touching my vehicle. I took my car back the very next business day. I was shrugged off and told there was nothing wrong. I was made late to work and to multiple appointments, including a scheduled surgery, from this sporadic issue which occasionally prevented my vehicle from starting and kept my key locked in the ignition and unable to be removed. I want to reiterate, this was never an issue UNTIL SHARRETT TOUCHED MY VEHICLE. The final straw came the night my lights shut off while driving to the grocery store in the dark when I was almost rear ended. My interior lights shut off, taillights, turn signals and flashers all failed to work with the vehicle in motion on the road in pitch darkness. I immediately turned around and took my vehicle home where it once again left the key stuck in the ignition, yet this time the car was left running and unable to be shut off! After this, even with the vehicle still running it would not go into gear or budge in any way. Once we finally got the vehicle shut off, the key remained stuck and the car would not start for an entire weekend. I took the vehicle back yet another time to explain to them the situation and ended up getting the run around where I was basically told over and over you can't prove we did anything to the vehicle so we aren't going to cover it. After diagnosis I was told it was an issue with the body control module (which we had assumed from the get go and mentioned to the guy, who was half listening I might add). As a side note, from the beginning I asked to speak with someone in charge of the service center and was simply directed to a service consultant because there was no manager available at that time. When I asked what could have caused this problem the only answer I received was "it just happened", no other explanation was given. I even called numerous other GMC service centers to ask if it was possible that changing the battery could have shorted something or caused this issue in any way and was told it was absolutely a possibility. One technician specifically explained in detail how this could have occurred. After being  reassured of this, I am convinced Sharrett screwed up my vehicle, yet still refuses to take any responsibility for a mistake which is going to end up costing me double the cost of what I had initially taken it in for. I'm not sure when the customer always being right went out the window but apparently they are so money hungry they would rather risk losing customers than own up to one mistake and fix the problem, they caused, free of charge. Considering the hundreds of dollars I had previously paid them, I feel this should have never been a questionable issue but it especially should not have been drawn out to this extent.  Not only have they wasted my time, gas, and money. I have been left without a reliable vehicle leaving me in all kinds of dilemmas. I have more children to haul around than can fit into a standard car, therefore don't have another vehicle readily available to be fooling with all of this nonsense. The most frustrating part of this entire ordeal is the fact that I took the vehicle in for service with minor issues that still left the vehicle in a drivable and reliable state only to be returned a vehicle in an unusable condition, worse off then when it was taken in. I feel this is an untrustworthy business with no care or concern for customers, not to mention total rip offs only concerned with making a big buck. I believe this business is full of negligent technicians and service representatives who seem to have taken "how to b.s. your customer" courses. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. Someone who causes more problems than they fix does not deserve a cent of anyone's hard earned money. DO NOT TRUST SHARRETT!! Save yourself time and unnecessary hassle. Go somewhere else for your vehicle needs. There are other options. Don't allow them to rob you or risk your life. SHARE IT! For those who believe they have had nothing but a positive experience with this place. Who's to say you haven't been charged outrageous prices for unnecessary services? I, personally, wouldn't put it past them. read more

I purchased my 1st Subaru (Impreza) from Sharrett in 2008 and had over $8K worth of service and repairs performed and over 160,000 miles on that car over the next 9 years; minus routine oil changes and tire rotations (which we did ourselves), Sharrett did it all. So when I started thinking about a new Subaru, I did my homework and started with email inquiries to three dealerships in my area. I followed up on Sharrett's response, first, because they (Gladys Cudjoe) not only responded to me first, but I had a solid history of good experience with them. I went in to look at a 2017 Crosstrek, and dealt with Brooke Geisinger. She was very friendly, helpful, informative, and pleasant to work with. My intent was to look and test drive, as I had no experience with a Crosstrek, but was looking for a little more interior space and ground clearance without a whole lot more car; purchasing was something I was prepared for, but in no hurry to do. After my test drive, Brooke never assumed anything, asked what I'd like to, was not pushy, and we moved forward in assessing my 2008 Subaru for trade-in value and putting numbers together for potential purchase of the Crosstrek (which I very much liked). We had some back and forth on the final price, between myself, my husband, Brooke, and the sales manager (Mike Kauffman), but that is always to be expected and in the end I got what I wanted. My trade-in value was fair, and even when there was a misunderstanding on when I needed the roof rack crossbars installed on the Crosstrek (two days out to accommodate a planned trip rather than 2 weeks), Brooke and the Service Manager (Logan True) took care of it, right then and there before I had even finished all of the paperwork (in the midst of a completely packed and busy rush at service department). Dwayne Johnson worked out the financing aspect of the purchase, walked us through the usual mountain of paperwork and options. He was very helpful and informative, pleasant and easy to work with, and had a sense of humor very akin to my husband and I that actually made this part of the process, oddly enough, fun (not that the process should ever be painful, but if you've ever bought a car....yeah). Overall, we had an excellent experience. We really appreciated everyone's time and efforts, patience, and good humor. I never relish the experience of looking for another vehicle, but when I know I have a solid base to start with it, it does take a lot of the stress out of it. I certainly look forward to Sharrett taking care of my new 2017 Crosstrek down the road and, hopefully, being able to go back to them with confidence when it comes time for my next vehicle. read more

We purchased a 2017 Subaru Forester from Sharrett Subaru in August and were pleased with the entire buying experience. We've owned many Subaru's throughout the years, (although most were previously owned) and were always happy with the quality and reliability of these vehicles. We typically don't buy new cars from a dealership because we dislike the "price negotiating" process. However, the sales price, including any and all fees were laid out and explained so that we could make an informed decision. Our sales rep. Kat Whitaker was receptive, knowledgeable, helpful and knew the answers to all of our questions (and we asked MANY). We ordered the vehicle (they didn't have a Forester on the lot with the exterior/interior colors and packages that we wanted) and were told it would arrive in approximately 3 weeks. Kat called in a few days and gave us the good news that they found a vehicle, with the options that we wanted, at a dealership close by; and that the vehicle would arrive the next day! We traded an older vehicle and although we had to "negotiate" a reasonable trade-in price, it was pretty painless. We made a reasonable case for our suggested price and they agreed! The financing experience was a breeze, as well, and even though they offered extra packages for an additional cost, we never felt pressured to purchase any products or services. First off- credit where credit is due- we were helped by the folks at the Dual Hwy location- 1333 Dual Highway in Hagerstown. Josh was the associate who, along with his boss and the wonderful lady in finance made the entire experience of buying a used car the single best one in my life. We went in and were totally honest about our credit and budget, and which car we were interested in, and what the competition had offered on the new vehicle we looked at. Sharret beat the price on the car, and beat the interest rate- which is a feat as we were getting a better rate on a used car than we were offered on a new... which is very rare. The reason we were comparing a used car to a new was Sharrett had my wife's dream car- a 2002 Ford Thunderbird, and the new car, while practical, was not something she was passionate about, and she works hard- Sharrett respected that and made the deal happen in the most painless and simple way any dealership could hope to do. I guarantee when I go shopping for a used truck in a year or 2, that will be my first stop. Sharrett absolutely shatters the stereotype of a used car dealership, and seemingly performs miracles with folks with credit scores that aren't in the upper 600's. read more

On Saturday April 28 I went car shopping, what a day. I started out shopping in Frederick looking for a Jeep I would love. I found a few but the sales person I was talking with didn't feel right to me. So my wonderful gf looked online for other Jeeps near us. We found one at Sharrett, so we headed to Hagerstown to check it out. I was greeted by Wanda. She asked what I was looking for, I told her the Jeep Liberty they had. Wanda said stay right here I'll go get it for you. She arrived with it and she went to grab a tag for our test drive. While test driving she was sharing information about the Jeep. She also was asking my son if he liked it and was beyond amazing. When the test drive was over I felt no pressure to make my choice. I had to get some other things done. So she gave me a card and said to contact her after I was done. Well I called her and told her I'd be buy the Jeep. I've had it for two days now and love it. I was originally looking to purchase a 2017 Forester at my local Subaru dealer [Thomas' in Cumberland, MD], but I was disappointed with the effort given by the salesman. I had been researching the new Forester online and checking with other dealers out of the area. I was interested in a Forester at Sharrett and contacted Wanda Bennett through email. Wanda was very responsive and informative. Sharrett was willing to compromise with me on the cost. So, I took this to Thomas Subaru and asked if they could match the cost for the same model; in hopes to stay local. Just purchased my Mazda 6 a few days ago from Dennis Shank. I couldn't be more pleased with a dealership, the finance department or Dennis himself. I never felt like I was being sold and was treated with the utmost of respect. Even after the sale was made Dennis took the time to sit in the car and show me every aspect of it and how all the bells and whistles worked, ALL PAST NORMAL OPERATING HOURS! He even went over the entire manual, the warranties, etc. car dealerships that put the numbers in black and white for you are far and few between anymore. Not once did I hear, "How much are you looking to spend per month?" To me, that's a "walk out of the dealer line." The finance department was just as great (so wish I could remember the gentleman's name that helped me.) and made me feel like a friend and not a customer; rare in the auto industry. What a great experience! My husband and I were not planning at the time to get a new vehicle when we visited Sharrett in January, we were just looking to get ideas. We started talking to Clint Lowe and he listened to what we were interested in if we were to buy. We test drove a Subaru Crosstrek and from that we moment we were hooked!! I just purchased a used Subaru. There was no pressure to buy, the information about what I was looking for and the year range I thought I could afford, was paid attention to by my salesperson, Wanda Bennett. I test drove the car with Wanda at my side, and it was a relaxing visit as well as an opportunity to see how well I could handle a newer Subaru Forester, our last one was a 2002, this one is 2011. I had been pre-approved by my credit union, and I felt no pressure to use any of their services to pay for the car. I pick it up tomorrow. This was my first experience with Sharrett basically because I have owned Hondas for twenty-five years. Ryan Staup made this personally stressful time so much easier for me be-cause I was so hesitant in my decision making. He certainly dissolved any preconceived notions I had about the 'deal'.
