I'm excited to say my friend and I were blown away by the delicious secret sauce that Justin crafted ( see video) which reminded me of the one that Allen created a long time ago for my parents. The place was lively and bustling, which makes sense given that this is literally my favorite hot pot place in Los Angeles. Highly recommend for people who are newcomers and old timers for hot pot. I always love the sauce bar, and the appetizers today are delicious with the seaweed. But most delicious and welcoming was the classic HaiDiLao environment, due to amazing staff, which makes it always a wonderful place to bring friends and family. Thanks HDL! First thing to know this is not AYCE and is priced a la carte. If looking for ACYE recommend going to Chubby cattle instead. That being said the quality and freshness of all the food and service is top notch. They definitely pamper the kids here with free toys (wand, inflatable headband) and kid friendly dinner plate (Dino nuggets) and snacks to entice their parents to come back. Smart marketing. Signing up for membership is free and is recommended to get some additional discounts on food right off the bat. We got the quarter broth selections of tomato, pork bone, and spicy. Pro tip can get water as a filler vs paying for another soup base to save on cost and always get quarter as its plenty of broth We got the wagyu x3 and short rib as our meats, rice cakes, vegetable platter, tong ho, fish balls, stuffed fish balls, shrimp paste, flying noodle, and tofu skin rolls. They nickel and dime you on the sauce bar though but we paid the $4 as hot pot isn't the same without it. At least they had a wide selection and was "clean" compared to other free sauce bar places like seapot. Located on the second floor at Westfield century mall, they don't validate parking so standard rates apply. Out the door after tax and tip was $200 for 2 adults and 2 kids. Overall you are paying extra for the quality, cleanliness and service so this place is not cheap. Reservations recommended and they do have happy hour and lunch specials. Get the flying noodle at least once for a chuckle. read more

The service for Haidilao is its selling point- you are taken care of and the servers are efficient. They will constantly refill your water and clear your empty plates without prompting. They will even give you lots of extra napkins without prompting. I can honestly say I have never experienced that. Moreover, they offer complimentary aprons, hair ties, phone covers, and lens cleaners for all of their guests! The ambiance was very nice. It is very clean and chic. Unfortunately, the ambiance can get overstimulating. Because of the live noodle dances, the music can get loud and it is difficult to communicate with the staff. Moreover, the unlimited seasoning and snack bar is placed in a less-than convenient spot. There is very little space for people to wait for their turn, and it gets even more cramped when there are servers and the robot moving around to cater to tables. The robot also ran into me while I was standing at the snack bar (no injury but it was awkward and cramped!) Lastly, the food has its high and low points for me. To put it simply, I believe this is a restaurant that incorporates the ambiance into the pricing- it is expensive! I went with my girlfriend and spent a little under $200 for our dinner (tip included). We ordered 3 cuts of meat, a few sides, and 2 broths. The meats were of great quality. Unfortunately you're playing $20+ for a single tray of about 10 thin slices of meat so it quickly adds up! The broth was the low point in my opinion. Let's just say the unlimited sauce/seasoning bar is a MUST for you to have a satisfying flavor. Moreover, they re-fill the broth with some type of broth water that isn't seasoned like the broth they bring you at the beginning. They essentially water-down your broth when they refill. For reference, my spicy pork broth was yellow-orange yet the refill was white and cloudy. The difference in color and flavor was night and day! I have only been to one other hot pot place and it was a better overall experience for a fraction of the price! Overall 3/5. To sum it up, upper scale ambiance and meat quality, but I value all you can eat meat over higher quality meat. The broth should be the selling point but it just falls short. The setting can be loud and overstimulating. Personally I would rather spend 35 dollars a person on all you can eat hot pot than this fancier spot. For my most recent, our party ordered various proteins and vegetables, including their Kobe beef belly, fishballs, and mixed tofu assortment. The Kobe beef belly was thinly sliced and tasted good with our own seasoning bowls. The mixed fish balls had a nice bouncy texture, and the variety of tofu in the assortment was enough to satisfy everyone at the table. My friends threw me a birthday linner here today and it was a blast! Location- it's located on the second floor of the century city mall and pretty easy to find. Parking is ample at the mall but the price (after the free hr) can be a little steep. The restaurant can accommodate both small and large groups. It's vibrate and they even had balloons/fun decorations everywhere! They are super intentional and have food for little kids, small knick knack toys, and even someone who does the "noodle dance" to entertain the crowd. Food and Service- besides the above ways they are attentive to details, food comes out relatively quick. Our server checked in on us quite frequently, gave us complimentary fruit and even cake. The hot pot itself was delicious- you're able to pick up to 4 broths, and the prices of the meat vary. Depending on what and how much you order, the price can add up quickly. Here's my main issue with Haidilao: if you've experienced the restaurant in China, anything less will be disappointing. That's how I feel about the Haidilao locations in the US - there are fewer amenities, and the service isn't quite as attentive. I understand it's impossible for them to operate the same way they do in China. For example, in China, Haidilao offers manicures. Other locations provide shoe cleaning services, and if the manicure line is long, they offer coupons for a future visit. In China, Haidilao is known as the place to go for hot pot and exceptional service. They offer complimentary plum juice in China, but not here. Overall, the experience feels pricier with less value. I've found that servers seem overworked here, and the personalized service isn't as attentive as in China. That being said, this Century City location is the best Haidilao experience I've had in the US so far. It's only the second one I've been to, and the difference between this location and the City of Industry one is night and day. We visited the City of Industry location during a busy holiday weekend for a birthday celebration, which is important to note as we dined at the Century City location on a weekday lunch, shortly after opening. We made a reservation through Yelp, which was very convenient, although it wasn't strictly necessary. The service was good, likely because it wasn't busy. I was a bit disappointed that some of the lunch specials were no longer available, as it seems we just missed them. I noticed they are still advertised on their Yelp page, and I suggest they update it to avoid misleading other diners. Just a friendly suggestion! They didn't have the mooncake plushie I wanted, which is understandable since it wasn't the right season. However, I asked for a plushie, and they gave us a super cute pumpkin one. We also asked for a toy for my son, and they were very accommodating in finding something suitable. The service was much better here than at the other location we visited - they were accommodating, friendly, and helpful. The noodle show was very entertaining! The performer had great showmanship, and he even checked with us about how thick or thin we wanted the noodles and which broth to use. Big ups to him! I'm concerned that free gifts are offered in exchange for reviews. I didn't participate, as I had already requested a plushie and received one. I suspect this practice contributes to the high Yelp scores. I'm giving this a 4/5 rating because my previous experience at the City of Industry location was a 3/5, and this location was clearly better. However, I would say it's closer to a 3.5/5 in my personal opinion. I'm definitely open to returning to this location or other Haidilao restaurants in the future to see how they compare. read more

What's nice about this hotpot restaurant vs. other ones I've been to. Seems like a visit to Haidilao is more for the entertaining hot pot experience rather than the food itself. My partner and I were able to make a reservation ahead of time, so we didn't have to wait in the long line when we got there. We were seated fairly quickly. At the table, there was one pot in the center for us to share. Up to 4 different broths can be put into the same pot with dividers to separate each broth. We decided on the tomato soup base, which was rich and savory, as well as the miso soup base, which was light and refreshing. Both broths are great hot pot broths. We ordered a mix of various proteins, fish balls, and veggies. They were all decent, particularly the thinly sliced beef. I do wish each portion was bigger though. The price of each item added up quickly and this meal ended up being even more expensive than an AYCE hot pot restaurant would be. Something you MUST get from here is the dancing hand pulled noodle. A person will dance with the noodle at your table while playing music on a portable speaker. It was a pretty cool little show to watch. We were quite impressed. Definitely check out the sauce bar - it has a wide variety of sauces, herbs, and aromatics for you to create your own perfect dipping sauce. Included in this self-serve bar, there are snacks, fruits, dessert, and a few appetizers you can grab yourself. On a final note - for those of you who have heard and are wondering about Haidilao's secret codes that you can say to servers for freebies, I tried saying one of the codes here with no success. On the hunt for the best and this spot is up there. Perfect place to celebrate birthdays. You can order a ribbon dance with a worker who comes to the table dancing with a ribbon. They can also sing happy birthday for you. There is a make ur own sauce bar with honeydew melon that I got for dessert. Service is amazing! Our waiters were so friendly. Always heard of Haidilao but never been. I was pretty astonished with how big this spot is. Located on the second level of Westfield Century City, its hard to miss this restaurant as their logo glows in the bright night. For anyone that's been to Westfield Century City, parking here is practically a maze. You'll find a spot eventually but during peak hours and holiday season especially, it can be even trickier. Parking here is also paid, some stores offer validation so look out for that for a discounted parking fee. Staff here is quite friendly and welcoming. Made sure that everything was explained for first time diners and often checking tables upon tables. My wife and I both love hot pot, not really on the spicy side so we decided on tomato and miso broths. It's not AYCE so your bill can rack up pretty quickly, portions are moderate sizing for most meats, perfect to share between one other person I'd say. With that said, we got a assortment of meats, fishballs, and vegetables. Presentation is pretty standard here but the vibe was great overall. Taste of all the meats were just like other hot pot places that you'll find elsewhere. Although the experience and vibe here is a lot better in terms of how the table is set and how clean it is. Of course, we had to get the dancing noodle showcase and my goodness it was impressive. For a minute show, the dancing noodle is such a experience to fathom. My wife and I were very impressed with the choice of music, dance moves, and just the show overall. At the end of the show, you can choose between thick or thin noodles which is a nice touch. Tasting the noodle itself after putting it in the broths was spectacular. Love the texture and taste, or maybe I was just that impressed with the dance performance. There are many snack bars throughout the restaurant with plenty of snacks, chips, candy, gummies, ice cream, and just a plentiful of edible dishes to choose from. I would say to make use of this snack bar plenty as you're charged $7 to $8 to your bill. Overall, Haidilao Hotpot is exceptional. Our soups were also refilled. If you're unfamiliar, there is a snack and sauce bar ($3.99 charge) where you can grab Chinese snacks, desserts, and fruit alongside a DIY dipping sauce station.
