Visited them after buying a puppy from Koolau Pets, which this vet clinic has some sort of arrangement with. I brought my puppy here within the time frame of the free checkup. They supposedly tested her stool (they never produced any sort of testing report). My husband pointed out to them that my puppy's gums were pale and the vet there told him the dog is just dehydrated. A week later my puppy's gums was dying, she was bloated and lethargic which we later found out was due to anemia caused by the tick-borne illness transmitted from her mother. After taking her to the VCA, the staff there reached out to Haiku pets to send them my puppy's checkup notes and tests. They never tested her stool like they said they did. We never went back to this clinic. If you care about the health of your animals, don't take them here... read more

Dr. Elision has been caring for my pets since early the 80's. She is a very caring veterinarian. Always takes the time to explain what's going on with our animals and always puts us at ease. We recently acquired a new puppy, And Dr. Elision was our first choice to take care of her. The staff is very friendly. Although we cannot go in with our pet because of Covid, They do call and update us frequently while we were waiting outside. Parking sometimes can be a hassle because the parking lot is small and the stalls are very narrow, but we always find parking. We trust Haiku veterinary clinic for our puppies needs. I'm leaving 2 stars because the staff is amazing and so sweet. But the reason I plan to leave this vet clinic and take my pup to a new one is because of my negative experience with Veterinarian, Dr. Kwock. I have a Cane Corso which if you don't know is a very large, dominant breed. Dr. Kwock met my Cane Corso and told me he was very resistant during his check up up so I explained that he's actually going to on-board training for 2 weeks this month. She replied saying "Wellll that's great for that but when he gets back home who is he going to have to keep those behaviors in place?" Kind of caught me off guard because she first points out his resistance and when I tell her there is a solution in the works, she talks down to me and makes me feel like I'm not in a place to continue and implement his training when he returns home. Dr. Kwock proceeded to talk about my pup's food. When I told her the brand, she questioned who told me to buy that brand and I explained to her Petco recommended it and she rolled her eyes. Then when we talked about spaying my puppy and I told her I won't because a friend of mine who owns 7 dogs explained why I shouldn't. She smirked at my reply and again questioned my resources. This is my first time owning a dog and I have done my fair share of research while still acknowledging that I don't know everything. But Dr. Kwock just made me feel like I was a complete idiot and had no faith in any of the choices I made for my pup. I think the part that really got me though was when she corrected my 3 year old child in front of me. My daughter was being persistent about asking me something and Dr. Kwock told her to be quiet because she was talking. Extremely inappropriate and rude. I spoke with other friends who have gone here and they had the SAME negative things to say about Dr. Kwock. That she is pushy, negative, and relentless in making you feel like you're a terrible pet owner. Overall, her tone was completely rude and unfriendly and the way she kept talking about my dog being dominant and dangerous if I don't train him is kind of an obvious but annoying comment to make. I did not feel comfortable with my visit with her at all and will not be returning. read more

We used to go to VCA Kaneohe to take all our dogs and cat. The staff had changed alot, and not as personable. I had met Dr. Amanda Dale at a party a few years back, and she encouraged me to try Haiku Vet. I am so glad we did! My Louie had needed his teeth cleaned for a few years and VCA kept raising their prices. Dr. Dale was so gentle with Louie (and Gidget) and her staff is so nice. Their quote was pricey too, but she guaranteed if they needed to pull more teeth than quoted there would be no charge. (VCA would). Though they are around $10 more a visit than VCA, they do cut your pets nails for free every time (VCA is $27!!)and it's only $15 otherwise. They also give you a 5% off checkup visit for multi-pet family (3 or more) have a machine that gives you a discount the more you buy ( I saved $15 on heartworm!) and free treats for the pups! Louie had a bad itching problem for years, and they gave me a free sample of a can and 2 small bags of derm food. (VCA would never give free samples like that). The front desk girls are always nice and call you for reminders. I had one faux pas with one of their new vets, so I try to stick with Dr. Dale from now on. She is nice, knowledgable and straightforward. She makes you feel comfortable if you are spending more money, it is for your loving 4 legged family member, and is looking out for the best. I have tried several vets on the Windward side, Kailua and in town, and if you way out the cost, they are all around the same price, and if they are a little bit more, they make up in service and other ways. It is a smaller office, but clean, personable and easy to get an appointment. Dr. Dale worked all the way till the day before she delivered! That's dedication! This Vet Clinic is ok, but just okay. The staff in general are nice and the Vets do good work but the cost is a bit outrageous. I am not cheap but the prices have jumped about 35% in a year. That is my main criticism of the clinic, the pricing. It has really jumped. I just had my two entirely healthy dogs in for their yearly exam and the bill was $525. That seems pretty steep considering the Vet was only in the room for a total of 10 minutes. And medicine wise they both received the oral kennel cough vaccine and one received their lepto (not very expensive meds elsewhere). The Techs were kind but when trimming my dogs nails they hit the quick and made light of it. This seemed surprising as they do this basic procedure every day. Initially they said they would price match for Trifexis yet, even though they did match before, they renegged and rather than the vet offering to write a script I had to ask them to do so. I was surprised there wasn't a fee for that as nickleing and diming seemed to be the name of the game. This didn't seem to be the case in prior years but it does seem that the clinic is now trying to maximize their charges by charging large and suggesting unwarranted lab tests. Dr Dale did do surgery on my dogs tail two years ago and he healed well. She did a very good job with the surgery. Unfortunately Frankie came down with a wicked skin rash after that took quick a lot of work for me to get rid of. I think he contraced the rash at the clinic but they didn't think so (I can understand they wouldn't want to admit it). The front desk staff are very nice and they communicate well, in a patient and kind manner. We have been coming to see Mindy the groomer at Haiku Vet for 10 years. She was the ONLY groomer that could handle my fur baby Hana who was a chili pepper when it came to being groomed. Mindy would take the entire day with her first bathing her then letting her rest then taking each step of trim nails, pluck ears, grooming her fur slowly with no rush. My Hana has since passed over the Rainbow Bridge and when she left Haiku Vet Clinic sent us a touching sympathy card that we have kept to this day! A new chapter in our life arrived by the name of Khloè and Mindy has become her personal groomer too! I am and will always be grateful to Mindy, her professionalism, her kindness and her gentle way with my fur babies. We recently purchased a puppy from Koolau Pet Store in Windward mall and with the purchase came a complimentary visit from this vet clinic. Upon entering the clinic, I had my son, my daughter and my little pup. For all you pet lovers, you all know we're not allowed to put our pups on the ground until they are fully vaccinated. So with the 3 "babies", you can imagine my hands were full. I'm trying to open the door and behind me is the vet assistant. Not a good start! She stood behind me as I tried to open the door with my hands full. I apologized for how long it took (if she had helped me it would've been faster) but she just gave me a blank face. Well, okay... let's hope you don't assist my pet because at this point I'm am annoyed AF. Well what do ya know? She assists my pup. Whatevers, I deal with it and just be professional with her. She rubbed off the wrong attitude because she acted like she didn't wanna be there. The veterinarian was awesome. Super sweet and patient. She also gave my puppy some free food, and treats. The receptionist gives me quote for the next visit. $200+?! And she says this is just the "starting rate". Yeah no thanks! We live in Salt Lake and I am NOT driving to Kaneohe for a rude vet assistant. I will take my puppy elsewhere, thank you! read more

The Team at Haiku has been 100% amazing for us. They are kind, loving, and care so much about the health of my puppy. We originally came in for the complimentary puppy visit when we first got our girl, (to be sure what the breeder told us was accurate and that she was healthy) and they blew us away with resources, free samples, answered all the puppy raising questions we could come up with. Ever since, our girl loves going to the vet to see all her "friends" in the vet techs and reception team. The team is also so responsive and helpful in emergencies. The other day our girl got an infection after her spay (our fault) and they squeezed her in same day to help us get the antibiotics she needed to bounce back. We've been in often and had a wonderful experience every time. I 100% recommend this team to any dog parents! read more

The main reason I'm writing this 4-star review is due to the experience I've had with Dr. Bensen, who unfortunately is only at this clinic two days a week as of this writing. I would give Dr. Bensen personally a 5-star rating. They recently lost two of their full-time vets, one quit, one died, so it's not always easy to get an appt, but if you don't have an emergency, it's well worth the wait to see Dr. Bensen. I have a rescue who I adopted 7 years ago when he was about 3 years old. The entire time I've had him, he's had massive, almost constant skin problems and infections in general---even had his tail amputated. None of the dozens of vets he's been to bothered to tell me there are specialized vet dermatologists until Dr. Bensen enlightened me. Unfortunately, by the time I found out, the only one that lived on the island was moving to the mainland, and when one recently flew over to do visits at local clinics he had problems with our pandemic entry policy testing and ended up going back. Bet he'll never come here again. Anyway, Dr. Bensen is incredibly knowledgeable and spends as much time as necessary to explain the many awful issues my dog has suffered thru. She's in the midst of running several important tests, and the lab she uses employs a vet dermatologist, with whom she's consulting. For the first time in 7 years, I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel instead of feeling like a never-ending bank account for the other clinics he's been to. I should also add that the staff is extremely friendly and professional, and calls are returned in a timely manner. read more

Coming here the staff was very nice except for 1 exception. They were able to examine and do what was needed to my dog with no hassle. The examination rooms are clean and seems well maintained. The prices aren't the greatest, and they really push you for certain things. Sometimes when they push you to do things for your dog it's as if they are trying to make you feel guilty. Do not give in if you know you don't need it or can't afford it. Overall this place is alright, not sure if it will be my go to vet for the next year. Staff are really nice and friendly, the place is clean. However, the one thing that really bothered me was when they charged me to take a stool sample from my dog and they didn't even tell me I'd be charged. The girl asked me if I wanted to go back home & get one or if I just wanted to have them to take one there.. so I said sure you can just take one now. Yes, ok I probably should've known that procedures always come with a fee.. but damn 1) how am I supposed to know that simply sticking a stick up my dogs butt would cost me and 2) at least have the decency to tell me how much things will be before you go ahead and do it. This place IS expensive but they did provide good treatment for my dog which was the main concern. Just remember to ask how much everything will be before your bill ends up being $400+ :) OH! And don't waste your money getting a lepto shot from them either. They also failed to tell me that it only protects my dog 10%. ...... 10% people. Not even half!!!!! We bought a puppy through Ko'olau Pet and they partnered with them so when you buy a new puppy (I'm not sure if all animals are the same procedure) they will call you and set up an initial vet appt. Haiku Vet will do an initial check up that's covered with the cost of your puppy. The staff are so friendly and polite. They're on it and call literally hours after I got the puppy. They gave us a free small bag of puppy food, a complimentary dose of flea & tick medicine. Their fees aren't bad either. I've been to more expensive vet places. read more

Being new to caring for bunnies, we were very nervous about having our 2 bunnies neutered and spayed but the staff at Haiku Vet Clinic and Dr. Chung took excellent care of our babies before, during and after their procedures. They both healed quickly and were back to their bouncy and happy selves. I highly recommend Dr. Chung if you have a bunny and are looking for a doctor that you can fully trust for your medical needs. I'm new to Kaneohe and have been taking my dog here for less then 2 months. My min pin needed to have surgery for his cancerous mass on his leg. They did a great job on the surgery and his stitches were well done and he was awake and alert when I went to get him. What was less then satisfactory was that I had to wait to drop him off for his appointment. Surgery appt's need to be dropped off between 8-830am so they have time to do the surgery. Totally fine with me. I show up a few minutes after 8am to find the staff sitting outside the clinic without a key to open up. I wait till nearly 9am till a worker with a key finally shows up. This particular worker wasn't even scheduled to start work until 930am. I realize mix up's happen and I let it go. I just hung out with the workers who were apologetic and very nice. I go to pick my dog up after the surgery and take him home. I then come in a week later for our follow up visit and inquire about his xrays that were suppose to be taken during his surgery. Turns out the vet forgot to do them until after the surgery was over. Really?! So luckily the xrays turn out to be clean so there was no harm done and the vet apologizes and comps the xray bill. Totally fine. Shit happens. Another week goes by and we have to return to the vet to have his stitches pulled out. Here is where I get pissed off. I go in on a Sunday (no knowing until I get there that there is a different vet on staff for Sundays) and see the vet. He, Dr. Chung, starts removing my dog's stitches while a vet tech holds my dog down. No pain meds, no numbing, no nothing. My poor dog is shaking through it all and fighting to get away from them. I'm not happy and spend another $150 on meds on top of the $1700 surgery bill. I get home. I check on my dog and apply the necessary medications. Guess what? THEY FORGOT STITCHES IN HIM! I have to call the clinic and make another appt to come back for the exact same thing for their incompetence! Does anyone apologize? NO. The receptionist and vet don't bother to acknowledge putting my dog through more pain, inconveniencing me for another fricken appointment, or that they made any mistake at all in leaving stitches in my dog. I don't think I will be returning. I personally like the vet Dr. Amanda Dale and she speaks directly to you with eye contact and stops whatever she is doing when you have a question for her. The staff is a little hit or miss. For the most part they are very friendly but one of the women in there is really snobby and treats the patients and other workers with contempt. Overall I had too many bad experiences here to be happy with the quality of this clinic. read more

We were at Haiku for years, then moved from Kaneohe so we had not been there for some time. I brought Copper and Lily there for the groomer Mindy who I had heard about. I have tried every groomer on the windward side, and habe been disappiointed. In fact my dogs actually hated it because of one specific incident with a Kailua groomer. Mindy was amazing. A true animal lover. This woman spent $7000 for her cat to live if that gives any indication of how much she lives animals. And what is awesome is she loves YOUR animals. Normally when i pick them up they are running towards me ready to go home. My dogs loved her, I had to pull them away, they were ready to trade me in and go home with her, the little traitors! It was the most expensive groom I have had in comparison but hands down the best! She is adorable and I bet my dogs won't be doing the walk of doom next time I bring them in! read more

My wife and I have been taking or two cats to Haiku Vet Clinic for about the last 9 years. They have always been very accommodating and helpful. It is hard to find a vet you can trust and I'm happy to say that we have never questioned that trust with Haiku. Over the years we have had to bring our furry friends here for all sorts of issues big and small. They have always been up for the job. One of our cats is quite old and I have always been afraid to take him in for anything major. Even when he had to have a tube put in his chest we were confident that our old boy was receiving the best of care. There is always the issue of price when choosing a vet. Haiku is certainly not the cheapest clinic out there. That being said I would never be comfortable sending our furry friends to the cheapest vet in town. I feel they have pretty reasonable pricing for the level of care given. After reading some of the negative reviews I felt that it was necessary for me to share my experiences. I totally get that people have different experiences but my experience has been consistently positive. read more

After a long search, we're finally settling with Haiku Vet. Since I move to Kaneohe few years ago, I have been searching for a good one. Now, after a year+ and numerous visits, I feel very happy and comfortable to have my pets (3 cats and a dog) there. Although the price can be high at times (as per usual for vet visits anywhere), haiku vet is more decent priced comparing to other clinics. At least the vet doesn't try to up sale the service by suggesting 20 other tests to do on a pet, or supplements to buy (like this other clinic I've experienced prior to this). I started to see the clinic different after one particular event: Everyone at Haiku had witnessed my older dog, Lulu's passing. During that difficult time, they spent time to call and double check on not only Lulu, but also the wellbeing of the owners. Because she was so ill, doctors were even giving me personal numbers so that in case anything happens on Sunday, which is the only day they are closed, I could contact her. Unfortunately, Lulu passed away on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Yet, with one phone call to the vet, almost everyone available was involved in helping us going through the toughest part of it all. Even now, on a regular visit, I would still get calls to double check on my pet(s), and get calls to remind me it's time for the flea medicine. I especially appreciated the doctor's calling since she always spend time to explain what's going on. That alone is a comfort to an owner of a sick pet. Our family vet is Dr. Dale; a wonderful doctor who's always gentle on my babies. I've also had Dr. Nunan, who was the main caretaker before and during Lulu's passing. And all the staff at Haiku Vet are wonderful. I got the sorry for your loss card and Christmas card from them...on top of their generosity and friendliness every time. Highly recommend. :) read more

I have taken my babies to Haiku Vet for more than a decade. To be completely honest, I dreaded those visits...until today. The staff have always been wonderful with my babies and I have always enjoyed talking to the girls at the front who spoil my babies with treats and the techs who handled them with care. The docs were the source of my dread. There was always a test, treatment, better food or laser that seemed to be "pushed" on me even though I couldnt afford it. When I declined I was given the guilt trip and left feeling like a horrible mom. NOT today! Today I had Dr. Chung!! lucky us!! he was amazing! showered my baby with affection, checked her thoroughly, vaccinations given & just like rhar...done! Mindi, the groomer at Haiku Vet is simply AMAZING! I've been to many groomers but finally found someone I can really trust my dog with. I took my dog to her today and she pointed out to me that my dog had some kind of infection on his paws. I would never have known. She pays attention to details which is absolutely amazing to me. The other groomers just do their job and don't go the extra mile. She has a lovely personality, very kind and understanding. She listens to what you want and are not be offended with your suggestions or comments. She's such a warm person and truly loves animals. To me, she is the best groomer I've ever had! I went here for the first time this morning after my boyfriend recommended this place. I have to say they made me feel very comfortable and made my situation with my cat Jameson go as smoothly as possible. My cat Jameson has had a bad eye problem going on for maybe two years now. The other vets gave me ointment which he hated because it was uncomfortable and was able to remove the cone of shame to rub it while I was at work. My cat turns into satan when being around unfamiliar people especially with a bad eye. Their vet tech KARA I believe her name was, was so amazing. She was able to hold him down gently and soothe him. She really went out of her way to make sure he wouldn't hurt himself or others till his visit was over. I really appreciate her! The vet Jessica was also very good and took pictures of his eye to consult with a professional which is so much more then what the other vet offices I have taken Jameson to have done for me. I have taken my dog, Athena here a couple times for general check ups and for solutions to her eye problem. Dr. Amanda Dale has been wonderful! She gave me sound advice on how to care for my baby's eyes, ears, and skin. I also got a referral for an eye surgeon that specializes in Entropion surgery (which is what my Athena will need) She and the receptionists are wonderful with the follow-up phone calls. I've never had a vet call me to make sure my dog is doing well with the medications they prescribed. It was definitely a nice surprise! The only reason I can't give a 5 star review is because they are a bit on the pricey end. If there was an option for a 4.5 star review I would give that. Don't get my wrong all the people here are very friendly, but the amount they charge you for stuff is outrageous, we had to get our dog rabies shots, and health certificate, and blood work done and it cost total about $900, I called around at the SPCA clinic as well as a few other Vets, and the cost would have only been about $300 at most for the same thing. I also think it's ridiculous that they pretty much force you to bring in a poop sample, but then charge you for it. I will not be going here anymore, due to the fact of how much money it has cost me every time I have been here, it has never been less than $300 vet visit each time, even just for a normal yearly dog check up! It is with very mixed emotions that I write this review. This vet clinic has always been there for me in the past. They provide excellent care and follow up by regular phone calls. I have had three dogs under their care for the last 7 years. Unfortunately, when those 3 dogs were breathing their last breath, I had to go to another vet because Haiku was not available. This was especially difficult two weeks ago when my 5 year old Maltese became very ill. He had just been there three weeks prior (Sept 2016) for his annual checkup. His usual vet, Dr. Ellison, was not available, so Dr. Dale did the exam. In my opinion, the exam was much less thorough than the ones Dr. Ellison had done. It was brief, impersonal and with much less hands- on checking. My dog got his shots (lepto and kennel cough) and we went on our way. About three weeks later, my dog got very ill... behavior totally changed, he was crying when touched, trembling and having trouble walking. Haiku gave us an appt the next day, again with Dr Dale. She thought he might have strained a muscle jumping around or something and sent us home with pain pills (that cost twice as much as on the internet). Over the next two days he got much worse and Haiku had no openings to see him for 3 days.... he had deteriorated so much, and I was afraid to wait, so we went elsewhere. Long story short... my dog had GME (encephalitis) and had to be put to sleep after two days of intensive care in the hospital (elsewhere). I do not feel that my dog got good care at Haiku...i feel like they misdiagnosed and put us off. I informed them of his passing and there has been no calls or notes of sympathy like other vets do. Not even a call from his groomer, Mindy, that we saw there every 8 weeks for 5 years... After researching the vaccinations he got, I regret being told he had to have them. The vet never explained the risks or had me sign a consent form or told I had other options like titer testing. That would be the least they could have done. Very heartbroken and abandoned. If I had been informed of the dangers of certain vaccines or of having too many shots at one time, my dog might still be here in my arms today. read more

Haiku Vet Clinic is the best vet I have ever visited, and all 3 of my dogs loved it there. Dr. Elison is great, caring and knowledgeable vet who always took the time to give us the correct information and my dogs loving care. She was there for my family and I when our beloved dog passed away due to cancer, even though we had never know till a week before she passed. They stabilized her, gave her the love and attention she needed and helped us to cope with her passing. They even called us at home to check up on her every day! I will always take my pets there because at least there I know my pets are in good hands! read more

Awful, I am so disappointed with this clinic, they just want your money, they don't care about the pets, they sent a lot of testing that your pet don't need and after they tell you how much is going to be, they charge more, they tell you one price and when everything is done, they charged almost a 100 more without a good reason. I won't never take my pet here!!! Don't make that mistake. read more

We take both our dogs here and the staff is wonderful! Dr. Dale is usually the vet we see and she is amazing. The vet techs are great too. Very thorough exams. They sell leashes and collars there that are guaranteed...even against chewing. All you have to do is bring it in and you'll get a replacement! Highly recommend! read more
