Hubby has been coming here for awhile now, and has really enjoyed his cuts. Although the wait can be substantial depending on the day and time he arrives, he has always been able to leave with a fresh 'do. The barbers who work here are very good at what they do. I've seen a wide variety of hair cuts come out of their chairs, everything from a military cut to something very finessed with high end style and precision. Hubby likes something of a modified military cut, while also keeping as much length as possible. They do a great job of accommodating his specific request. Prices are good, seating is limited, and wait can be long. Biggest downside is parking and accessibility, with being on a one way street with very limited options. Also we have gone during their stated business hours and found them to be closed a few times, which also was pretty frustrating, but never the less, we keep returning for their great cuts. read more

My boyfriend and I stumbled into this barber shop while having a stroll around town. We came in right before close, yet the owner/barber did a thorough cut that my boyfriend was satisfied with. So great he didn't do a rush job! Also, he gave a proper neck shave with an old school razor and cream. My son doesn't like to get his hair cut. So I tried to find a reputable place that he'd feel comfortable with. We decided to try here based on the reviews. We decided to go this evening once I got home. We arrived about 35 mins before they were supposed to close, when we got to the door, we were told by the barber " he'd been standing since 10:00 and he was doing his last cut". The hours posted, closes at 6pm. Well, they have lost my business. He does a high quality cut, one of the best haircuts I've gotten in a long time. Whatever you need trim, fade, and everything in between he's got you covered. Went in 3 days ago from stopping in from work on a yacht. I called prior to coming because I read a review that said they don't work published hours. When I called on Tuesday they said they were open until 1. I went. 5 minute walk. My criticism is the lack of attention to what I asked for and detail of my haircut. I said I like my hair as is but needs a half inch to three quarters of an inch off everywhere. Well, the barber cut as he desired or didn't listen at all to my instruction He cut 2 inches plus all over and cut all my curls. I tipped and walked out like a gentleman but I was pissed. I hope you read this barber because you know this is true when I state that you said your sons' friend broke both his wrists falling or jumping out of a tree- you said this while giving me an undesirable haircut. I recently moved into town and was a little apprehensive about searching for a barber out here. I had a solid place in LA which knew exactly how to cut my hair and I wasn't sure Newport had much beyond salons -- not a knock on salons but more often than you get a sub-par fade. Then I found Hair Apparent on Yelp. Jamie didn't disappoint, he hooked up a really good low fade that was exactly what I was looking for. The cut wasn't rushed and the $15 price tag was more than reasonable. The only downside is he doesn't take reservations due to the constant stream of customers, so be prepared to wait an hour + if the shop is full; that being said, the cut is well worth the wait.
