Well this was my first time here. I have had some difficulty finding a barber that can do what I ask them to do. The gentleman that worked on me was named Jon and he did an amazing job. He did exactly what I asked him to do. I got the works which included a hot towel shave which was fantastic. Summary: Come here for your cut. The professionalism here is quite impressive. Other shops put you in the chair, ask "what you want", and start cutting for a quicker customer turnover rate. But Jose (my barber) actually took the time to double check with me about the style of haircut I wanted. His level of knowledge about different styles of cut, hair, and techniques, was a testament to his seasoned experience as a barber, and his attention to detail during the entirety of the cut was beyond exceptional and could only be compared to that of Italian sculptor, Michelangelo. A standard haircut here will range from $20-23 (not including tip). The end results are easily worth 30-40 dollars. So it's super affordable too. While I haven't been cut by the other barbers that he employs, I imagine that they are of a similar caliber because he hired them. Don't let the ridiculous 1 star reviews drive you away. Very clean very professional. Excellent for kids. The theme of the place is similar to 1950's car garage. The workbenches are converted from tool boxes and the barbers use compressed air to blow the hair off of you. Like any downtown business, parking is a little tight but because it's Newport you are safe to park a couple blocks over and walk. There are some nice touches in the shop: a pneumatic air hose to the get trimmings off your head, and a bunch of monitors to watch a film.
