Jon is the most professional hair architect I have ever had the pleasure of cutting my hair. Old school guy with more than 40 years experience. So at the last minute today my schedule opened up and I started to look for a place to get my hair cut and colored for a reasonable price. It was last minute but I was still being picky about where I went. Hair architects had awesome reviews and an available stylist so I went ahead and booked an appointment with Allison. I was not disappointed and honestly can say she is now my stylist for all future appointments. She is super friendly and personable on top of being awesome at cut and color. All my gray hair magically disappeared without crazy strong chemical dye smells, and my new cut is amazing. She totally listened to what I was asking for and delivered beyond my expectations. New to Tucson. As we all know finding a new hair stylist is high stress - especially if you need both color and style. After a couple of okay haircuts - I got a recommendation from a woman that I met while out for dinner one evening with my husband. She had a great cut and color was awesome. She recommended Santiago at Hair Architects (she found him after a trying multiple salons and stylists across town over a couple of years). After a couple of unfortunate experiences with another stylist in town, I decided to visit Jon after reading the reviews for this location and his former location in Portland. I have found him to be great. Pays attention to what you want and is great doing pixie cuts (I can't speak to anything else). One thing that is MAJORLY important to me is that my stylist remembers both who I am and who I've referred. One friend had a terrible customer service experience following a bad hair experience from a stylist and salon I was very loyal to- I don't think it would have gone down that way if they actually kept track. This stylist also didn't put two and two together that my husband was married to ME until his third or fourth visit. Really weird. Jon remembers me and the things we talk about, and while I haven't had the opportunity to refer friends yet (but strangers have asked about my hair!), I know he'll know they're my friends! Another great thing about this place is that the price is right. I've got that short hair and it grows QUICKLY. It can really add up. It's not luxury, but it's a nice, clean, comfortable place. This salon is really, really good. I needed to highlight my natural color, so I booked an appointment with Jon. He was so accommodating and got me in ASAP, which is always a plus! As far as color goes, he definitely knows his stuff. He opted to use a highlighting cap in lieu of foils, and I really love the soft, polished look it gave me. He used loreal products, and after a great cut and pristine blow-out, my hair looks excellent. Added plus, each stylist has his/her own room..so you can have a private conversation and your taste of music playing. I would definitely recommend Jon, this salon is really, really good! read more

I wanted to wait 24 hours to write this review because I was so mad yesterday, but after looking in the mirror this morning I see I had every right to be. I went in with 2 pictures 1 was what I wanted 1 was what i didn't. I came out looking more the 1 i didn't want. The owner agreed the stylist had used the wrong size rollers for what I wanted and refunded $60 out of my original $155. So basically I got a $95 1 1/2" trim that is not even even. I just moved to Tucson and was worried about replacing my downtown Chicago stylist. Based on the reviews here I decided to see Santiago. I was not disappointed. He gave me honest feedback about my current cut (he found little fault with it) and offered a tweak, which I accepted. I have short thick straight hair so he took out more of the weight and gave it some more movement without taking off very much length at all. I am very pleased, not to mention relieved that I was able to find my new stylist right out of the gate. Highly recommended. read more

I talked to her, setup a consultation and was really nervous. I was pleased with my consultation and setup an appointment. When I met my friend and saw that her haircut was the best I'd ever seen in her - so flattering, I immediately made an appt with Jon. He was so easygoing and didn't rush me. And the best part, he actually asked if he could shape my hair. Most hairdressers gave me the cuts that THEY wanted. Jon is truly amazing. For the first time in all my years I've felt comfortable. After thinking for years that I was losing my hair he assured me that I wasn't. Because my hair was completely white, my scalp showed through. Ok, so this is for my partner. She is not a yelper, I know...looser ;) , anyway I am taking it upon myself to write a review on her behalf, based on her experience. First off, we went to another place called split endz, I am not going to call out the stylist because she cut my hair and did fantastic. Maybe color isn't her thing?! Because my partner got her hair cut too, and that was super cool, but the color is a whole other story. It was wretched! My partner is full grey and the stylist suggested some black low lights. Well holy crap was it awful! Like she took a magic marker and just did blotches on her hair in jet black. Terrible! This is where Santiago at hair architects comes to play. He is a hair Doctor and color expert. Let's just say he's a doctor of hair fabulousness! He looked at my partners wretched hair job and knew exactly what he needed to do to make her hair great again! He made all that black, blotchy nastiness disappear and she came out looking like 10 million bucks! Let's just say yesterday my partner was in tears and today she has a mega watt smile! Still going and still loving the place! My cuts keep getting better and my 4 year old likes getting his cuts here, too. And I just found out today that another stylist I liked from another place in town is now working here. Welcome Ruben! We'd stopped seeing him because where he was was so busy and there were delays and things were always a bit rushed (and it was a bit of a trek since the place was across town from our house). Plus, one time I'd tried to see him I was told by someone he was on vacation -- and he was there when we showed up for an appt with someone else (could have been an oversight/mistake, but I've always wondered and it didn't make me anxious to return there, despite liking Ruben). I have had a love/hate relationship with my hair forever. Salons I have tried in the past either didn't really work that well, or charged me double because of my thick hair. This place was different...in the best way possible! The convenience of scheduling an appointment online was wonderful, and I was able to see Jane for a color and cut. She is amazing! She was able to just look at my mess of hair and see what tone would work for my complexion and eye color, and what cut would make my face look good.
