This is my second visit to Studio 110 with Jenny (Jennifer) Maloney and I could not be happier! I am relatively new to Tucson in the last 9 months and like most ladies the business of finding a new person to do your hair is scary and many times a long process of elimination. I went to one of the top salons in Seattle to a fabulous stylist that I happily paid top dollar. My previous stylist was featured in magazines and local media and Jenny is on par with her - in Tucson!! I feel like the cut is the best I have ever had. Jenny is very talented with her cutting skills. The Salon is quaint, cozy and trendy chic. Jenny makes me feel comfortable and has a great personality. This salon is a group of independent stylists sharing a really wonderful space, founded by Vanessa Baird, with a community vibe. Location near Tucson Blvd. and Elm (near Arizona Inn in a small suite of offices) is convenient and I like that it's not in a strip mall. There are 7 or 8 stations and when I was there on a Friday afternoon, it was lively with several other folks getting their hair did. The decor is Tucson hip with exposed brick, layered rugs, leather couches, and plants. Homey and stylish. The whole space is open with comfy couches in the middle where you wait for your service and stations lining the walls. There was no specific "check in" desk so I sat on one of the couches and a lady came over in a few minutes to greet me and check to see if I had an appointment. I had made an appointment with Jennifer Maloney for a haircut and she was super friendly and willing to help me figure out exactly what I wanted. I tend to not be super chatty in the chair and I was kind of tired from general grad school busy-ness so Jennifer made me feel welcome with just the right amount of conversation and then let me just chill and space out. Everyone around seemed relaxed and happy to be there, stylists and clients alike. Each stylist books their own appointments and you can find their schedules, bio/specialties, and contact info on the Studio 110 website, or you can also send a general inquiry through their contact form if you're not sure who to contact. They also offer color treatments (obviously), hair and eyelash extensions, keratin treatments, and make-up (I think). I love the haircut and plan to go back! Reasonably priced too! read more

I could not be more in love with this studio. Vanessa has really done a fantastic job of creating a beautiful place that feels welcoming. Although the hair artists that work there are all fabulous (the photos on the instagram speak for itself) I've only seen Vanessa for my Balayage and she has transformed my hair. She really understands my vision and excitement every time I sit in her chair. She takes her time and is worth every dollar. I've gone to 5+ hair dressers in the 7 years I've colored my hair. I went to Kelly who completely butchered my hair. The cut was disconnected, unblended and she cut off what took me 7 months to grow out. I literally said, leave the length when she in turn, pulled it straight up and cut it 2 inches from my scalp. I broke down crying and she acted like she was put out, then told me it wasn't personal. She made it very personal. Fortunately, I found a stylist that knows how to blend and point cut and fixed it but it does t give me the hair back that took 7 months to grow out. This hair studio is a desert gem!!! I am so happy to have discovered Studio 110. First, the overall design of the studio is desert chic at its finest. I highly recommend arriving early just to let your eyes explore the great craftsmanship and awesome interior design. Stephanie is amazing!! Let's just start off with that.I texted her last minute for a haircut and she was able to fit me in on a Sunday of all days; So pumped! I was pretty nervous to get my haircut because I am still fairly new to the area and didn't know where to go. As soon as I walked in, I felt welcomed, the decor of the place is super cute and would describe it as modern/western/chill. Now on to the good stuff. I asked Stephanie for a small trim and long layers since I was in dire need of something new (hair hadn't been cut in almost a year-yikes!). I kid you not, the entire thing was done in 40 minutes! SO fast! I can't remember the last time I had a haircut that was this good and that fast! I can't wait to go back to Stephanie to try some Balyage next time! There is so much thought and effort put into each and every detail of this salon. The decor and ambiance is lovely, there's always good music playing, the lighting is flattering (which is essential when you're having your hair/ makeup done) and each stylist is oh-so talented. Vanessa cuts my hair whenever I'm in town (sadly, I've moved away now) and I always give her a lot of freedom. I always love to do something different with my hair - and now that it's grown out, I have a lot more options! It's always fun to see what she recommends and how it turns out. For the last 3 years, Vanessa has been the only stylist I've allowed to cut my hair. No matter what style I choose, Vanessa manages to deliver something even better than I could have imagined. I was thrilled when she decided to open up her own place--I was one of her first Studio 110 clients! The salon is stylish, but not overdone--there is a great balance between chic and comfortable. The Verb product line is wonderful--everything is lightweight and kind to my hair (I have super fine strands that are easily weighed-down by residue). I haven't been to any of the other stylists, but knowing Vanessa's high standards, I'm sure all of her colleagues are just as talented as she is. Studio 110 feels very high-end without being over-priced. I recommend this place pretty much whenever anyone I know even mentions they're thinking about getting a haircut. Megan came to my rescue! After bleaching my hair at home, I freaked out when I saw that it turned a very very pale blonde that did not look good with my skin tone. It was a Saturday evening when I decided that I needed professional help to fix it. I messaged a local Green Valley salon to see if anyone would be willing to meet with me on Sunday because they are open on Sunday by appointment only. The owner said she would ask and let me know but I never received a response. I luckily found Studio 110 on Yelp. All of the stylists are essentially business owners and their own boss and they set their own schedule. Therefore, each sylist has their own phone number for appointments. I saw that Megan is a color specialist and works on Sundays! I sent her a text early Sunday morning practically begging her to see me that day. After sending her a picture of my hair and a picture of what I wanted, she agreed to see me that afternoon. I won't lie, I was dreading the lecture I was going to receive for bleaching my hair at home. I hate being scolded. But, Megan didn't give me a hard time at all! She was so nice about it and actually told me that I did a pretty good job. I used to dye/bleach my hair using box color in high school and college but would get my hair cut in a salon. Nearly every stylist would lecture me on how bad box color is and how I am going to damage my hair; I wasn't even there for a color correction! So Megan's positivity was a huge relief for me. In addition to her being so nice, my hair turned out exactly the way I wanted it. I have had my hair dyed and/or highlighted by a handful of professionals (and myself) and this is the best my hair has ever looked. So I was in town and needed a quick trim I looked for reviews and found this place I thought I couldn't go wrong! When I first walked in I sat on the couch for a good 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. When the girl I was seeing came out I asked who the owner was and she pointed to the girl that has ignored me for 15 minutes I thought that's odd but maybe she's having an off day.I sat in her chair first thing she asked was if I would like a drink I said sure she walked over them back and informed me they were out of water.. ok no biggie I'll take coffee she walks over then back and informs me there out of creamer once again no biggie I'm here for hair not beverages. I proceed to the shampoo bowls were she starts to shampoo me next thing I know I feel soaking wet she tells me the drain isn't working and the bowl has overflowed I ask for a towel and she tells me hold on she has to find one the dryer has been broken.. finally I'm ready to get the cut she does an ok job but half way through I feel like dust is falling on me I look up and realize the ceiling fan hasn't been cleaned in years. After everything is said and done I left with a mediocre haircut a soaking wet shirt and pretty parched.. next time I'm in town I'll skip this place. read more
