My appointment with Hibiki started with a gentle hair wash before I was brought a small cup of tea and some konpeito to snack on as I showed him the album of reference photos on my phone. We were able to make some pleasant small talk even with the English-Japanese language barrier, and Hibiki was very attentive to making sure my hair was cut and styled in a flattering way that added volume! (I had let him know I struggled with my hair sitting flat) I would definitely come back!! For anyone looking to book here that doesn't speak Japanese, I would advise you make sure you have clear reference photos of the type of cut you want--preferably from multiple angles. Don't be afraid to ask questions, bust out Google Translate, and make gestures for what length you want your hair at!

I am writing this as a witness to an incredibly upsetting incident involving my daughter, who is a…read morelong-time client of Anna's. My daughter recently underwent a major surgery. Per her surgeon's strict orders to prevent infection and protect her fractured nasal bones that were in a cast, she cannot wear a mask or glasses, and she must avoid getting her face wet. We visited the salon specifically for a "salon-style" wash to follow medical guidance. While Anna has always provided excellent service over the last 2.5 years, the behavior of another staff member (the owner Kathys other daughter-in-law) was absolutely appalling. When my daughter politely asked Anna to wear a mask for protection, since my daughter cannot wear one herself due to her surgical fractures, this other employee chose to interfere. She was incredibly rude and aggressive, telling my daughter, "Do you think you're a queen?" and then telling her "dont look at me, close your eyes and shut up." It was shocking to see a client treated with such blatant disrespect and disregard for medical necessity. While Anna apologized privately, the fact that the owner Kathy and other staff members stood by and said nothing is unacceptable. No matter how competitive your prices are, there is no excuse for bullying a client who is in a vulnerable, post-operative state. We have supported this family business for years, but we cannot recommend a place that treats medical safety and basic human decency as an inconvenience. Dublin is a growing, diverse community that deserves local businesses that make our city better, not worse. We need businesses that uphold standards of respect, inclusivity, and basic human decency. Allowing this kind of toxic behavior and blatant disregard for a client's medical needs does nothing but pull our community down.
