He is super open to trying new products and helping me figure out what exactly is causing a reaction on my skin. Booking with Bobby was easy and his schedule is very convenient/ flexible for my crazy work schedule. The space is small but cozy, clean and has a Bobby flare to it. I was welcomed with a tea and chocolate covered gingerbread cookie. During my consult, I was so tired after a long day that I wasn't very clear with how I wanted my color to be done. I basically had some blonde highlights hand painted/dark brown roots growing out. The contrast was becoming too noticeable and my blonde looked brassy. However, the resulting look was fabulous, harmonious and exactly what I wanted. He's obviously a mind reader. I love that he tries to use organic and/or least harmful methods of coloring hair. I stood outside his salons for more then and hour leaving VM messages, text messages and even on IG and he never returned any of my calls or texts. This is was worst experience I have every had and very unprofessional. He still owes me $100 but I have no way to contact him. Such a disgrace do not waste your time and be fooled like I was. I chose Bobby based on the all 5 star yelp reviews, but I had a different experience than other reviewers. I went in wanting to cut a significant amount hair and was looking for some input from Bobby about what would best flatter my face. He showed no desire to have a discussion about styling, just asked how much we were cutting and went to work. As he was was cutting I said all I care about is that it is not too big. I understand he likes to cut hair when it is dry, but the cut was supposed to include styling and just blow drying is not an acceptable style for my curly hair. When I left the studio, my hair was a giant triangle. Bobby said he the cut was meant for curly styling, not straight as it was when I left the studio, but it is still a triangle when styled curly. Bobby is the best! I've been seeing Bobby since 2001. His color is vibrant and fun (and organic! No itchy scalps or nasty fumes) and his cuts even better, they grow out beautifully. Im not going to go into to too much detail however he charged me over 250 dollars for my hair and the end result looked as if I had gotten my hair done in Alabama. Bobby's great. First of all, he's transparent about the products he uses, and because he's a one-man business instead of a salon, he's honest, and doesn't push products on his customers. I used to go to an "organic" salon on the Upper East Side, and frankly, my hair was in much worse shape after those highlights than it's ever been after Bobby's. In fact, so far, Bobby's color/highlights have been leaving my hair feeling refreshed -- which is pretty rare, speaking from 5-6 years of highlighting experience. Second, his cuts are great. He takes time to listen for what you want (I brought in celebrity/magazine pictures on my phone). He also involves you in the process, unlike other stylists who go silent after you put in your request and end up creating something totally different than you wanted. Bobby will communicate throughout the cut and ask specifics, like what you want at the front, whether he's going short/long enough, etc. And finally, Bobby's just fun. I've been taking my son to get his hair cut by Bobby for 2 years now and would never go anywhere else. His first haircut was at one of those places where they made him sit in a car and watch a DVD. I just had my first salon experience with Bobby this week to have my hair colored and I walked away very happy. Bobby is extremely personable and I felt right at home. I initially went to Bobby because he offers the Realisse straightener (so excited to find a vegan alternative to keratin!) Bobby did a fantastic job with my super thick, frizzy hair, and he offered me some great styling tips and instructions as well as some new products to try. please if you are considering any kind of staightening at bobby`s salon DONT DONT, he comletely ruined my hair and burned it...he said he was specialized in thermal reconditioning and offered me the treatment for a lower price than the market, $180 i guess, but i soooo regret it, i lost parts of my hair in the front and the back, i had to cut my hair short, it has been over two months, and i am still suffering the consequences of his lousy treatment! i was used to do my hair at the HAYATO salon, and i regret changing them for a less price, those guys are the best! read more
