He took so much time working through every section of my hair, carefully removing the frizz and dead ends without taking off too much length. He washed my hair, styled it, and then went back through it again to refine everything--trimming any loose curls, uneven pieces, or frizz and layered it, so the final result looked clean and balanced. You can tell he really cares about the details and about doing curly hair the right way. He was also incredibly gentle and surprisingly quick while still being thorough. The whole experience felt really comfortable, and my curls have never looked this healthy or defined. Levi will not call himself a curl expert so i will call him a Curl Genius! Levi KNOWS curls folks!!! I lived 20 years in NYC and started my CG (Curly Girl) journey at Lorraine Massey's (Author of "Curly Girl: The Handbook"!) DevaChan Soho salon and had the luxury of being in the hands of many great curl experts through the years. But when I moved to OC six years ago, and with Covid, any stylist was hard to find, and curl stylists...well, I ended up resorting to CG youtube videos. Over the past few years I went to a few stylists who claimed to know curls, but honestly, my own "handiwork" was just as good (which is not saying much!) But thanks to Yelpers, Levi popped up as a curly stylist with rave reviews. Levi takes the time to get to know you, your lifestyle, where you are on your curl journey, your curl pattern (and how there can be multiple!) and treats each curl with the respect it deserves! My hair is medium thickness with 2C curls. The finished product - beautifully structured, light clean bouncy curls. I could even put my hand through my curls (no "don't touch my hair!" lol). Oh, and I need to mention how sweet he is! The next day was a workout day so I didn't even try to retain Levi's magic and pulled my hair up into a scrunchie and went to bed. The next AM I took out the scrunchie and my hair still looked amazing! I misted a lil water on my hair and off to the gym I went just "to see". At the gym, I got 6 compliments (yes, I counted lol) with one saying how young my hair made me look! So yes, if you have frizzy/wavy/curly hair and have been considering embracing your "inner curl", I do recommend Levi. Highly. Levi text to request a copy of my vaccination card a few days before my appointment and had me do a rapid test right before going inside. You can either bring one or buy one from him. Make sure to check in advance the one you plan to bring is what he requested. Masks were also required of course and if you don't have a good one he is happy to provide a kn95. I was not asked to take of my mask at any time and for the first time in two years, I was able to relax while I got my haircut and just enjoy having a conversation while he worked his magic. 2. Levi is a hair wizard. Yes, I said HAIR WIZARD. He honestly made it so effortless as he trimmed and shaped and brought life back to my sad head of hair, all while maintaining the most pleasant demeanor and keeping great conversation about interesting topics. How does one qualify as a hair wizard you ask? My test is if I can wash and blow dry my hair, then go to sleep and wake up the next day still with my hair looking fabulous, then the stylist is clearly a wizard. This has only happened with a handful of stylists that I've had over my lifetime and I can't tell you how excited I am to have discovered Levi! My hair shows every blunt snip and will not hide any mistakes so it took mad skillz to cut it so perfectly. Levi's 16yrs of experience as a stylist and solid work ethic really reflects in his work. 3. Oh my gawd are his prices reasonable! And please remember he is providing a service and is self employed so please be generous with the tipping! That good karma will come back to you! 4. Going in he asked me what I like about my hair now and what I don't and together we found how we would cut it. He must have thought eight steps ahead because three months later my hair is looking the best it ever has in its life.
