My hair finally looks the way I had envisioned. Beyond his talent, he was incredibly kind and thoughtful throughout the appointment. Before I left, he even let me know that if there was anything I'd like adjusted after living with the haircut for a few days, he'd be happy to take care of it. That level of care and attention really stood out. I'm so glad I found both SAGE and Colby. I came in asking for a rich brown. Instead, I left with a very noticeable red/orange band across the top of my head that doesn't blend with the rest of my hair. I never asked for red hair, and the result is nothing like what I requested. Before I left the salon, after my hair was styled, I pointed out the banding because I could tell something looked off. I was told it looked fine, so I trusted the stylist's professional judgment. Looking back, I wish my concerns had been taken more seriously. I left for a planned trip to Europe shortly after my appointment, so I wasn't able to come back immediately. However, as soon as I returned, I repeatedly tried contacting my stylist and left multiple messages. I never received a response. When I finally spoke with the salon, I expected them to stand behind their work and correct the color. Instead, I was told I would have to pay again for an all-over color to fix a result that wasn't what I had asked for in the first place. At this point, I'll likely have to go to another salon for a professional color correction. Between what I already paid here and what it will cost to fix, I'm out around $500 or more. If achieving a rich brown on my hair wasn't something they were confident they could do, I wish they had been upfront about that before starting the service. I would have appreciated that honesty far more than ending up with a color I didn't ask for and an expensive correction process.

Aside from a few highlights around my face and on the top of my head, it didn't look like I had recently had my roots highlights touched up at all. My hair looks grown out as if I had not even had it done. Watch the video and you be the judge. When I brought up my concerns, the owner, I sent her this same video (Emily) explained that this is what the salon considers a partial ROOT highlight touchup. I already had my hair previously bleached . I respect that explanation, but for $240 plus a $50 tip ($290 total), I expected a more noticeable result. She offered to correct it for an additional $50. I'm sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision and have a clear understanding of what this salon considers a partial highlight ROOT service.

This review took me months to write because reliving it is genuinely upsetting. I want to start by…read moresaying the stylist I saw, Caitlyn, is a sweet person but she destroyed my hair. I went to her in October for a refresh of my highlights. I was already nervous, since my previous stylist had moved away and always took great care of my fine hair, making sure it never got damaged. I told Caitlyn upfront that I was anxious about letting someone new bleach my hair, given a history of stylists frying it, and that I chose her specifically because she's a senior stylist. She reassured me she doesn't use heat dryers and starts with a low developer, so my hair would be fine. Once I was in the chair, I explained exactly what I wanted: a little brighter, a refresh of all my highlights, but keeping the dark root and dimension shown in my before photo. She agreed and got started. She never mentioned pricing, so I assumed it would be around $400 at most. During the appointment, she suggested going through my ends because they looked dark. I said maybe next time, since I wanted to preserve the integrity of my hair. Later, she mentioned she'd gone ahead and done a few extra pieces at the bottom anyway something I never asked for. By the time she finished washing my hair, it was already dark outside, so I told her not to worry about blow-drying it. I went home with wet hair. Even then, it looked extremely blonde, which worried me, but I assumed it was just because it was wet. At checkout, I was shocked: the total came to $650. I left a tip anyway because she was watching the screen as I paid and I felt put on the spot. (Receipts attached.) When I got home, my husband immediately said my hair looked way too blonde and pointed out broken pieces. He was right. Over the next few days, it kept breaking. My hair had taken years to get healthy, and in one appointment it became dry, brittle, and was falling out. The extra strands she did without asking only made the breakage worse. I ended up buying box dye to fix the color myself, since I hated how it looked. As of June 2026, I've had to cut at least 8 inches off, and I'm still working to repair the damage. This experience caused me real distress -- I loved my hair, and I deeply regret trying a new stylist. I'm sharing this so it doesn't happen to anyone else. Love this place! Came here to get a new look. I'm the type that gets a haircut twice a year max, since I have long flowy curls and it's hard to find someone who has the skill to style them. I booked my appointment with Sabrina, the owner of the Organic Salon. I was greeted with warmth and attention. Sabrina worked on my hair for almost four hours, perfecting the cut, finding the perfect shades of color I wanted for the ombre and balayage looks, and personally handled every detail of the styling. She was very caring, attentive, and a total perfectionist. She wanted to make sure I got exactly what I wanted, and three of her staff assisted in the shampooing and parts of the coloring. Stacy was awesome! she helped paint strands of my hair and took her time to create the perfect balayage/ombre look I wanted. She also gave me yummy oreos and ensured I was hydrated =] I can honestly say this is the first salon experience I didn't dread, and totally loved. I've been ranting non-stop to everyone, telling them to not go anywhere else. I should also mention it's a posh spot that feels homey and is very well priced, compared to the quotes I received in the area. I've gone to this salon many times and have always been pleased with how they do my hair. However, today I had the most amazing cut done by Stacey so I felt compelled to write a review. This was my first time with Stacey and after describing to her what I wanted for my hair, she instantly knew how she was going to achieve my desired results. She was extremely knowledgeable not only about hair but about organic hair products (she only uses organic products both in her styling and coloring treatments) so I got to learn a lot during my haircut. I loved her personality and confidence in styling my hair. When she turned by chair around to look at my finished and styled hair, I had never been happier with the end result. Always going to come back to Stacey. Additionally, the salon itself it awesome. They fit me into their schedule on the same day that I called. I didn't have to wait to get my hair done and there's complimentary hand massages (the hand masseuse named Liz is the sweetest woman ever). Also, the value is amazing. Love my cut and color by Michelle!!!! She is the absolute best ! My first visit with her I had virgin brunette hair and wanted to try ombre . I was a bit timid about coloring my hair for the first time so she recommended I do my ombre with color and toner (no bleach)... which was perfect for me because I was going for a natural ombre look . She did a beautiful job I was so happy with it !!! The second time she did my hair , she did a full ombre using bleach and toner... and I couldn't have been more pleased!!! My ombre is beautifully done and my cut is fabulous... I'm constantly getting complimented on my hair whether I wear it straight, curled , or wavy. Like many others, I found Mirage on Yelp. I loved the results posted by customers which is truly what sold me. Sabrina was able to fit me in the following day because my schedule is so limited. She spent quite a bit of time discussing my hair, what I liked, didn't like, etc. She really listens and because she carries so many product lines of color, she is able to choose the best line and color for you. We chose a temporary color to begin with, to make sure I was happy with the results and I was - Sabrina is very talented. As for the cut, I showed her the styles I liked, and she did it! I was actually surprised that my hair could look like that in the back! I've now been to see her 3 times, and I'm really happy. The way I found Mirage was just pure accident. I had just moved into the neighborhood and was looking for a place to get my hair done. I was actually going to go to Super Cuts when I saw the sign "mirage". I walked in and asked if they could take walk ins for a cut and color. The customer service was beyond exceptional. The whole place made me feel comfortable and relaxed. That was 10 years ago!! I have been getting my hair done by Sabrina for quite some time and what I really like about Sabrina and her staff is they are very friendly and personable. I was just there last week and they have a new massage therapist that I will be trying soon. She gave me a complimentary hand and arm massage that was awesome. I have been going to Mirage for close to 20 years. I started with Joe, the original owner when I was in my 20's. Then, Joe sold the salon to his long time employee Sabrina. When I entered my 40's, i finally decided to color my gray wisps and I started seeing Sabrina. She does a fabulous job with color! It looks totally natural. She blends 3 colors for a rich, warm look. I have short hair, and i can tell that she truly loves to cut my hair, enjoying the creative process the whole time. It always looks so cute, and it grows out well, the true sign of a good short hair cut. I've been going to the Mirage Salon for around 20 years now. I've gone to other, cheaper salons now and then, but I have always come back. All the people who I've known here have been highly skilled, professional, friendly, and straightforward. They keep up to date with the latest trends in hair and makeup and will sometimes offer suggestions. But they will never try to "sell" you on something that isn't going to work for you. The atmosphere is warm and friendly; they make everyone feel like part of the family. As a customer, you can join in on a lively conversation if you wish or just read a magazine. Your choice. Sabrina has been doing my hair since I was a teenager, so for about 14 years.. : ) She truely is a Color Master. I have gone from brunette and back to blonde a countless amout of times and my hair always turns out beautiful and surprisingly healthy. I have going to Sabrina for 2 years or more. I first started seeing Sabrina because i was interested in organic hair care or someone that used products that had less toxins and chemicals. I have been coming to mirage for several years and am always beyind satisfied with the outcome. Whether it is color a cut or style I leave feeling amazing. My sister was visiting from the east coast and asked me to bring her to my salon because she loved my look. Well I scheduled an appointment with Sabrina and she did a complete makeover for my sister. Today was my first time at Mirage Salon in Costa Mesa. I was warmly greeted with a delicious coffee and introduced to my fantastic stylist, Alex. The owner of the salon immediately recognized me as a new customer, which shows how much she cares about her business. She introduced herself and the consult began! Alex was so good at helping me figure out exactly what I wanted, and she delivered! I came in for a cut and color and left so happy with the results. I think I may have found my new beauty spot. I have been getting my hair cut and colored by Sabrina at Mirage for over 9 years. Every 5-6 weeks, I walk into this salon knowing that Sabrina will work her magic and I will leave looking great. I came in for a wash and style before work last Saturday and I can honestly say this is hands down the best salon in OC! I called last minute and they were able to get me in right away. The manager Hayley was so sweet and welcoming and made me feel right at home. My stylist was Stacey and she was amazing as well and knew exactly what I wanted. WOW! I have never been so happy leaving a hair salon in my life. When I first came in I was welcomed by the manager Hayley, who was so delightful. The salon was immaculate, cozy, and the entire staff made me feel right at home. The environment was so peaceful and made me feel very relaxed. Tatum was my stylist. I wanted to get my hair done, but I short in time since I wanted to have my hair done before my son's football game began, I looked up a please that was close to OCC and I found this please MIRAGE, so I headed over and when I walked in I was greeted by Sabrina with a great smile and made me feel welcomed, she did my hair, she waxed my brows, and gave me facial. I have been coming to Mirage several times now and every time I come I get the best customer service. Everyone here is super friendly and they make you feel at home. You always get offered water, tea or coffee.They have all sorts of services offered here from facials, waxing and obviously hair services. Today was my first visit to Mirage and I had a wonderful experience. I loved the atmosphere, the fact that all of their products are organic, and even the use of essential oils. My stylist Sabrina, was very helpful in helping decide on the perfect solution for my hair and even assisted in choosing the right products to care for my look. She's also really honest and really concerned about hair health--when you say a brighter blonde, she'll tell you how long it will take to get you there or she'll tell you how messed up your hair will be if you force it in one appointment. Either way, always your choice, but always full and fair disclosure. In addition to how talented she is, she is literally the nicest, non-judgy person I've met.
