My husband and I have both been coming to Seyoung since we've been dating so almost a decade (my husband for 10 years and me for about 7ish) she even styled my husband's hair the day of our wedding! Now my 2yr old daughter is included in our roundup of haircuts. Soooo I am one of those people who hates getting my hair because I'm very attached to it, but Seyoung has been the only stylist to cut my hair based on the way my hair actually parts so I don't have a cowlick even when I don't blow out my hair. If you've been lucky enough to stumble on Seyoung's yelp page here and vibe with her showcased work, know that she's the real deal and you've got to book an appointment with her ASAP! Her portfolio here truly gives a taste of her standout, diverse skill set and artistry. As my go-to style has always been the voluminous and highly layered/textured haircut, I was struggling to find a hair stylist in the OC with showcased expertise in that area as the style can often go very wrong (e.g. choppy layers, not enough layers, too much thinning of the bottom region, etc). I was feeling pretty hopeless perusing through countless hair stylist yelp pages filled with the monotony of balayage with straight long hair or wavy long hair cuts. It was hard to gauge their expertise and skill set for executing layered/textured haircuts as balayage often lends itself to the same straight long hair or wavy long hair cuts. Landing here on Seyoung's work was a breath of fresh air as I very much vibed with the edgy yet classy aesthetic and I was able to see how diverse and versatile her skill set really is. 2/14/18: I am updating this review since Seyoung has ventured off into her very own studio. Her new place is awesome. It's quiet, modern and relaxing. No fishbowl feeling here! Bottom line is Seyoung is my girl... I go where she goes. ================= I really love the Victor Paul Salon. I'm always met with a friendly greeting and an offer of my choice of beverage. I don't always feel like the coolest, 40-something, mother of two around, but when I come here I feel like a celebrity. The salon is beautifully decorated and the chairs are quite comfortable, so comfy that I have fallen asleep on a couple of occasions (did I mention I am a mother of 2?) You get that hair dryer heat on me and I'm off to Sleepytown. My stylist is Seyoung and she is AWESOME. She's been styling my hair for a long time now and I don't know what I'll do if I ever have to move from the OC. She recently gave my 14 year old daughter the Ombre (all her friends ooh'd and ahh'd over it). And, she recently added some purple extensions on this PTA mom's head, upping my coolness quotient by quite a bit (except that I used the word "cool" once again thereby downgrading said quotient). Seyoung offers terrific advice for trying something new (like the extensions), but is willing to dial it back if I just feel like being same-o. No pressure here. Long overdue review. I've been going to Seyoung for about 3 years now. That's the longest I've stayed w/any hairstylist. She is ah-maz-ing! She knows how to do hair. Just because you're licensed, experienced, and built your clientele, it doesn't mean crap when it comes to my own hair. See, I have long hair. Some would think long hair is easy to cut, trim, style, etc. It's not! Some stylists get too excited when they see long hair and want chop off too much, suggest a hot new style or technique just so they can practice or try it out, some don't know how to layer properly, so you have chunks of layers, literally, and some are just unfriendly like they don't care for your business.
