I drive 40 min to the salon and get there 10 min early. She is washing someone elses hair and hasn't started the cut yet. Jennifer then comes over to me and tells me she is running an hour behind. She asks if I have something else to do while I wait. Umm, no. I am 40 min from my neighborhood and planned my day around this hair cut. I am new to TX and haven't had my hair cut in a few months and really need a hair cut. I wait the hour and then go sit in the chair to tell her what I want. She tells me she is running behind because she woke up not feeling well. Ok, I understand people get sick- call your client! Take 2 min and leave a voice mail that your appt will be an hour later. Give the client the choice to either cancel or come in later. While getting my hair cut she is talking to me about dying my hair and mentions she is a color specialist and can dye my hair. Im waiting to see how the haircut turns out before I decide anything else. I got a new client deal that was a little cheaper for a cut but still expensive. With tip it was $48 for a wash, cut, and blow dry with a round brush. My hair is short, right above shoulder length. Anyway, we get to the cut I show her the photo(a neck length bob, not a drastic A line but very slightly angled in the back, a popular cut right now.) and I had had a similar cut in the past but it was grown out. I had some damage from my hair being blonde. I told her I wanted a minimum of 1 inch off and if needed 2 inches was ok. She said she would do that and do a few long layers to help with volume. People, I ended up with layers right below my eyes, a weird shag type haircut and then she round brushed it. I ended up looking like Monica Lewinsky from 1998. I was so disappointed. Now I have to grow it all back out and Im stuck with it because to fix it would mean cutting it really short. I fear if my hair grows half an inch I will have a mullet. I work in the healthcare field and have to keep my hair up mostly, but the highlights, weave, and hair cuts that Shua has provided over the years were never a disappointment. I constantly received compliments and was asked for information by her. Shua understands hair, especially my hair, which, no matter every effort she made, came to the understanding that regardless of what she tried (or anyone in the past), my hair would never hold a curl, feather...it was as straight as straight could be. She always knew exactly what I wanted, even when I didn't..lol. She is AWESOME with color and can work with any hair type. My teenage Daughter has very curly hair, and a few years ago, when she "attempted" to cut her hair, Shua was able to fix the butcher cut and put in some cute streaks of hot picks. My Daughter LOVED IT!! In the past, I have always dreaded getting my hair done because I was impatient. Not only is Shua fast, but our conversations were ones that I always looked forward to and will greatly miss, along with her vibe :). She was always reasonably priced, and I knew she truly enjoyed what she did. I was sad to see her go; she was always friendly, flexible, and fabulous. I am truly going to miss her, though she made sure I was not left without a new stylist, and I am so happy for her new adventures.
