During the appointment, the experience itself was uncomfortable. Chemicals were dripping onto my face, leaving stains on my forehead, and when my hair was washed, the water was cold and splashed everywhere. A few days later, after washing and styling my hair the way I normally do, I noticed how off the balayage looked. My roots already appeared very grown out--almost halfway down my head. I understand balayage is meant to grow out naturally, but this looked like it had been done months ago when it had only been a week. Even my family commented that it looked grown out. I called the salon to see if they could fix the top portion, and I was told my stylist, Angel, would call me back--but I never heard from her. Overall, I'm really disappointed. Not only was the service expensive, but the results didn't meet expectations, and there was no follow-up or effort to make it right.

Very disappointing service and an even more disappointing response to a legitimate customer complaint.

I have been going to Ricardo, for a hair cut for the last 3 months, once a month, I've never been rushed, he's takes his time, makes sure it's exactly what I want. Truthfully, he's the best hairdresser I've ever personally had. I always look sharp after. I also enjoy his personality, our conversations, and his professionalism. Ricardo also gives me advice on how to keep my hair healthy, without any upselling of products. I read, a few of the bad reviews here, I think those people either had a bad day or were expecting the impossible. I don't think you can really go wrong at Studio Milan. I've been going to Supercuts for the past 13 years since I've moved to LA. For the price the haircut wasn't that bad but the cuts were never consistent and I was getting bored of the same look. I recently moved to Toluca Lake and searched for hair salons. I came across Ricardo on Yelp and I'm glad I did. He's a very nice young man with a lot of talent. The haircut was perfect! As they say you get what you pay for and with Ricardo you truly do but you also get someone who cares and listens to your needs. We had tried everything -- high-end salons, driving all the way to the OC for a trusted family stylist, and everything in between. Nothing quite stuck. Then I searched "men's scissor haircut" on Yelp and found Lisa. Lisa cut my son's hair, and we never looked back. It genuinely changed his self-esteem. She was an artist -- no clipper cuts, just careful, thoughtful scissor work. She connected with him, gave him exactly the look he wanted, and somehow turned that teenage scowl into a smile. It was more than a haircut, it was confidence. Sadly, February was the last cut she would give him. We learned in March that Lisa was ill. We had only briefly met Rochelle before, and while she was lovely, we hadn't really seen her work. Still, we booked with her, hoping -- maybe unrealistically -- that lightning could strike twice. Somehow... it did. Honestly, more like an electrical storm. Rochelle told us she was "just following Lisa's lines," but it's clearly more than that. Especially considering she stepped in after losing her friend and business partner -- that alone is incredible. She gave my son an even cleaner, slightly shorter cut, still using only scissors, and somehow kept all the texture, fringe, and movement that kids his age care so much about right now. She also finishes with a close neck shave and offers a choice of Thayer's witch hazel or a creamy toner -- it's a full experience. The location is super convenient (right near the middle school), appointments are easy, parking is simple, and everything is clean and efficient. And for anyone wondering -- a 14-year-old boy's approval is not easy to earn. This age group knows their hair. They care. They have opinions. And as they'd say, Rochelle gives a "fire" cut -- at a price moms will appreciate. You'd easily pay three times as much elsewhere in L.A. for less. Highly recommend. P.S. Rest in peace, Lisa. At the end of the day, you can depend on Kimberly to get you the results you want and give you great hair care and product advice.
