I found Suzanne through a mutual friend from high school and I had been looking to have my hair professionally done since December 2017 but have always been too chicken to try something new with my hair. Her website is really easy to navigate, the prices are laid out on the table so that you know exactly how much any kind of service is, as well as numerous pictures of her work that she has done on plenty of other girls. I was able to book an appointment with her 2 weeks in advance which was another plus because all the other salons and girls that I've tried to book with ended up being 1-2 months out and I didn't want to wait that long. Prior to this appointment, I have not had a haircut in 2 years and basically did not care for my hair at all, so my leftover balayage on the very end of my hair were dead. When I arrived, Suzanne was extremely welcoming and once I sat down, I showed her a picture of what I kind of style and color I was going for, and she went right to work! We started with a hair and she explained how much she needed to cut off as well as tips to maintain my healthy hair by getting it cut more often. She then started my balayage bleaching treatment which took about 45 minutes, washed and toned my hair which took about 15 minutes, ending my appointment with a good wash, dry, and style :) Suzanne us super sweet and easy to talk to just about anything! I really enjoyed the fact that she took the time during the appointment to teach me how to take care of my hair, how often to wash it, and she even showed my how to style my hair too! She recommended specific hair products too so I literally went to Ulta right after and bought them all lol Because of her, I now understand why people get so addicted to change their hair colors! Guys, hands down Suzanne is one of the best hair stylst I have ever met in the ENTIRETY of my living life. You will not find anyone better, no not even one. I've met her through word of mouth, from seeing and asking many of my friends who've had an absolutely fantastic hair style with amazing dyes and varying color combinations. After getting my first cut from her from a few years back, it has been the most consistent and skillful cuts I have ever gotten. Don't even get started on the style. You can make a request on the style of the cut depending on your own preferences, but once you decide to let that go and let her have it her way, you can style it whichever way you want and it will still look good, now that's mad skills right there. I have very thin and semi curly hair, which means that it is not an easy hair to cut, but Suzanne just aces it every single time. And the fade? Oh my goodness, you are missing out big time if you haven't gotten a fade from her. So far, I've had my hair dyed twice by Suzanne and the results for both times were amazing! First off, the store is super clean and very spacious. I was the only one there doing my hair, so it was nice knowing my hair was her only focus. Now for the process. Right when I sat down, Suzanne asked about the history and condition of my hair just so she can have an idea of what kind of hair she was going to work with. She then went straight in to lightening my hair. After the lightening process, you basically have an hour or so to yourself (so bring a fully charged phone or a book to read). After that, she washes everything off and applies olaplex which is a huge plus. After that, she mixes your hair color and starts working her magic. That sits for awhile and then you head back to the washing station. Once everything is washed off, she blowdries and curls you hair (and I got to say, she's the best hair curler ever). The results? AMAZING. This time around I tried the oil slick/unicorn/rainbow hair (whatever you want to call that lmao) and it looks MAGICAL. No joke. I absolutely love my hair. The whole process took between 4-5 hours, but it was totally worth it! If you're looking for a place to dye your hair at a low price but still have great results, definitely check out Suzanne! She's my go-to hair colorist now! P.S. Suzanne is super friendly, so we had many small talks throughout the whole hair process. I've dyed my hair many times before - after all, my mom was a former hair stylist, so I put a great amount of trust in her work and skills. Most of the time, my hair turned out the way I wanted it to - but it wasn't at the healthiest condition. Still, I stuck with it for a while until I got tired of the maintenance. We fell in love, and instantly booked an appointment! Suzanne's salon is quite spacious. We came on a Sunday, so she was pretty much the only stylist there - we had the whole place to ourselves! She started by examining and asking about the history and condition of our hair, then she got straight to work. I personally wanted a silver/ash blonde balayage, and she was confident in her ability to achieve the look for me within one session - but only if my hair lifts to the right level. She was very quick and efficient with the lightening process, and basically worked on the both of us at the same time; if we had any questions regarding the process or condition of hair, Suzanne was always very happy to answer. She has a super relaxing and calming aura that makes you feel super comfortable and calm around her, and she's very gentle with your hair too! Once we rinsed out the bleach, she told me that my hair lifted a good amount, but not quite enough for me to achieve the light color that I wanted; I would need to wait another 12 weeks before I could come back in again. I was really disappointed, because I wanted to get my hair done in time for my birthday (which is in a few weeks). So we talked about other color options, and we decided on.... RED!!! This was the first time ever dying my hair a crazy, fun color - so I was really nervous! Suzanne, on the other hand, was very excited and giddy to try the color on me! After going through the coloring process, I was freaking AMAZED! For someone who came into the salon expecting a totally different color, I could not be happier - and I'm actually super glad that we settled on red instead of the blonde balayage I had originally wanted. Furthermore, I left the salon with so much more information and knowledge on how to take better care of my hair. The process took a total of 5 hours for both me and my friend, and it was $200 per person. It is no exaggeration to say that Suzanne will give you the hair of your dreams. She is a @#$%^&* hair wizard. Whether you want to look like a fresh Hollywood starlet, or a hero from a gay mech anime, she'll give you exactly what you want. This woman works magic. I've been dying my hair, and my parents', since I was a teenager, for about 20 years. I've mostly dyed my hair at home, because I haven't felt a need to get anything complex. However, I've wanted silver hair for the past 10 years or so, and with pastel colors becoming more prevalent, I wanted to try those as well. I know enough about coloring processes to realize that hair needs to be lifted to a very pale blonde to have those colors be pure and not muddy. I also know enough about my own hair to realize that it is very difficult to get that level of blonde on my own. I've definitely bleached my hair to get unnatural colors before, but they were all bright vibrant colors that didn't need a smooth, even, extremely light base. To attain silvery and pastel shades, one also need to tone their hair after bleaching. The toning step is based on the level of lift attained and may need adjustments. On top of that, the strength of bleach necessary to get that lift will most likely damage ]hair, so it may need further treatment during the process. Being the scientist that I am, I did try to get to silver once or twice on my own but all I got was an uneven mess. Live and learn! Before I went to Suzanne, I visited another stylist very close by who I will not name. It was clear after two tries that she did not know how to do unicorn pastel colors, despite claiming that she could. She could only do bright colors that I could do on my own at home. My spouse went to her as well and was very disappointed with her results. She told her she wanted a pastel purple, and even showed her photos of the exact color she wanted. She was given a dark purple instead. Suzanne got me to the bright silver I've always wanted. She understands color theory and has an extremely scientific approach to the coloring process. The toner she used was appropriate for the color going over it. During my first appointment with her, we discovered that the toner my previous stylist had used had left pink residue in my hair. An interesting color choice considering I wanted a light silver. I've always been careful with my bleached hair and due to that my silver lasted for over 3 months. I also have very thin hair due to hormone problems in my teens and she handled it very gently and styled it in a way to give it more volume. She has a great "bedside" manner, and her rates are excellent. I've been hype about her ability to do pastel and unicorn colors, but she can do natural colors, balayage, babylights, you name it. All processes are done with the same skill and attention to detail. I had a co-worker go to her a few weeks ago to get a blonde beach babe look with varying levels of hi and lowlights. She's STILL raving about how much she loves her hair. For reference, I'm South Asian, my spouse is East Asian, and my coworker is white. So we've all got really different types of hair, different aesthetic senses, and different hairstyles, and yet Suzanne was able to give all of us exactly what we wanted. She can even do holographic hair. That is a damn hard process! I She does take her time with the process so if you've got something to do the day you book with her, book early. She starts her appointments at 11am. I have pretty short hair and it takes 5 hours for the whole process. You won't be disappointed. Her rates are outrageously reasonable for the amount of time, care, and effort she puts into her work. She even bought a ring light recently to photograph her clients at the end of the process. As far as appointment booking goes, she is extremely responsive via text. The photo I uploaded is from my most recent session with her. I requested a blue to silver ombre which will fade to silver. I am a pretty indecisive person when it comes to colors and Suzanne has been really helpful in narrowing colors down or letting me know what colors are possible depending on how light my hair gets. Suzanne has been my hair stylist for over a year now, and I plan on sticking with her even if I move out of the SF Bay Area. Every time I come in for a coloring session, I let Suzanne have free reign over what she wants to do. Her only limitation is that it has to be in "natural" colors due to the professional environment I work in. Suzanne is very transparent of what is achievable in the current session and what results to expect. This is no big deal to me, since I've had my hair colored nearly every color of the rainbow so I already know where to set my expectations. Regardless, she begins every session by asking what I want to do, what is achievable with my hair's current state, and what she can do. I've had babylights in different shades of brown and blonde and I've never been disappointed. Suzanne's pretty much my fairy godmother and I walk out of each session feeling like Cinderella. I also get a lot of compliments so that's another testament to how great her work is! I am looking forward to the day where I can go back to fun colors and I trust Suzanne will work her magic and create a flattering color (I'm looking at you, green). This review is long overdue. Met her at the salon and thought I would give her a try. I don't really know her and was afraid for her to do highlights of any kind to my hair (since I have had of fair share horrible hairstylists in the bay area) so I thought I would start with a root touch up. So appointment was set up and showed up for my hair appointment. She colored my roots and the color did not blend well with my hair color. I sensed during my hair session with her she was quite nervous and perhaps that was the reason for her mistake. Well I wanted to give her a try again so my boy needed a haircut and so maybe she can do a simple haircut. She ended up cutting my boys hair and charged $30 plus tip and the cut was not professional at all. Had to instruct her the ENTIRE time what to do and the whole session took forever. Even though I explained to her the type of haircut he likes. She appeared to be new in the hair business. My boy did not like his haircut as the shape in the back of his head looked like he was wearing a helmet. I know it sounds funny but not when your hair is the one being messed up! His hair in the back was a bit too long (like a mullet) and square along his sideburns. I don't care so much about the cost of the haircut as long as you do a good job, I will tip you generously but her work was horrible. I Never went back again and my boy has been going to a Barber shop ever since and "Eric" does an amazing cut and its only $15 plus tips. Eric is super fast, accurate, efficient and friendly to all his customers. This girl lacks all professionalism in that aspect, plus her attitude and personality is aloof and snooty. A word of advice honey, if you plan on staying in the hair business, you should improve your social skills, be humble, friendly and smile. It is important for your customers to feel welcomed at the Hair salon, after all, we pay for your service and tipping you extra money for your supposed "professionalism"! If you can't be kind to your customers, maybe it's best to just work behind a computer and do some graphics design instead. She lacks professionalism and work ethics. So do I recommend? Hell NO. Find other hairstylists out there who are truly professional and not someone who switched to hair care industry because their first line of career in the computer industry was a failure. read more

Suzanne's technique of bleaching is extremely gentle on the hair, and the color does not damage the hair at all. I came to Suzanne with very dark brown hair and after two HEALTHY sessions, I was lightened to an almost platinum blonde! Suzanne was very professional and informative about how she would go about the lightening process and even taught me about how important it is to use the right products on my hair. Because of my hair history, she also made sure my hair stayed as healthy as possible through it all. The funny thing is, although my hair went through a bunch of chemical processes, I feel like it is healthier now than it was when i first came to her. I'm always been the kind of girl that cuts her hair twice a year. I have had my fair share of salon experiences over the years, getting different cuts and color from many different stylists which have ranged from very bad to amazing. I was introduced to Suzanne when she was in Monterey and now that she is in San Jose, my visits to her will be a lot more convenient! She is also the only hair stylist who has recommended that I change up my hair washing regiment and as a result, it has saved me time and what we hope will be more of my hair! I have very thin hair which seems to be thinning out. Suzanne cares a lot about hair health in terms of what we can do to keep our hair healthy on a daily basis as well as how to improve long-term hair health. She also shows her expertise in hair care when it comes to color - not only is Suzanne a hair color goddess who provides amazing color and blends to her clients, she also makes sure that your hair is not damaged in any way during the process! It's a common conception and occurrence that bleach damages your hair. This happens if your stylist doesn't use the right ratio of bleach and time. My friends and I have all had our hair bleached by Suzanne and my hair is as soft as ever! Suzanne took care of me for the first time I dyed my hair purple, my first "risky" color as an adult. Suzanne saved my hair. I've been getting frustrated with my hair because I did some bad bleaching jobs at other salons and at home during college and it never healed itself. I've been getting rats nest of tangled hair for years with bad split ends. Then I wanted to color my hair but it's been a while but I trusted Suzanne. Especially because I told her the idea what I wanted and she asked questions to make sure that what she was going to do is what I had in mind. And it was, but more because my hair was fixed! My hair was softer than it has been in years and it tangled less. Thank goodness. She also introduced me to baliage (sp?) which was definitely up my alley since I wanted something like an ombre, but not. I could feel the high quality of the products she used and my hair wasn't damaged at all. She had a lot of great suggestions for hair care and hair care products.
