I figure I might as well update my experience at "Great Cut" (on 6/9/2022) since there has been…read morenumerous changes from my last Yelp review on this place (on 3/27/2016). The most notable change is that owner/hair stylist Ricky recently relocated! This was announced in late-2021 as a new location finally opened its doors on New Year's Day 2022. Now that's a way to make a bold statement to the new year! The new location is directly on Garfield Ave. & just north of Auburn Blvd. in the Foothill Farms neighborhood of Sacramento whereas the previous location was right at the corner of Palm Ave. and Auburn Blvd. So it reality, this was only a move of about 1/4 mile away. After speaking with Ricky, he is actually paying less rent with bigger square footage. And from the moment I stepped into the new location, I was quite impressed. For the past 5-6 years, this has been my go-to spot for a quality, inexpensive haircut. Despite the pandemic combined with the sky high inflation, Ricky has been extremely generous in still offering an amazingly low $10 for a men's haircut. Especially when many barbers and hair salons start at nearly $20 for the same quality. This is enough reason why I have been getting my haircuts done with him every 3 weeks for the past 6 years. As I mentioned, the inside is bigger and better. For starters, he has a regulation sized billiard table, numerous sofas for waiting, a TV, and a public restroom. More often than not, I usually get in and out of here in under half an hour. Many of the regulars (including myself) already know Ricky well as you can usually talk to him about anything. He particularly enjoys fishing and taking trips to San Francisco. All in all, this updated review was a long time coming but now I am giving "Great Cut" a perfect five stars.

Most of his customers are men, so I'm here to say don't be afraid ladies! He listens to what you want. He will work with you to achieve the look you want. He enjoys styling hair as well. He's styled my hair both curly and straight. He's given me the long layered look (j. Anniston hair). Currently we changed it for the longer A-line Bob that's trending since 2016. As I'm writing this review he's doing a haircolor on an older gentleman. This is a great little and friendly neighborhood salon. Steve told me many folks mistake this place for barber style cuts. Needless to say, this was a solid and stellar recommendation. Got my cut from the dude Adrian (@ac.blenderson via IG to check his work out) and he did a dope job to say the less. Their process is pretty accommodating and scheduling isn't an issue at this shop. Definitely a lot more organized than a LOT of the spots I've tested out (both in NorCal and SoCal). Fairly punctual on time and without a doubt wasn't a half assed job. Even listening to the barbers here chop it up, you can tell they put a lot of time in their craft. They've got their regulars here and I see why. I never fully understand why folks get mad about accommodation, it's not like barbers just push all other customers aside for one person (unless you're paying a ridiculous amount haha). Just be better at your own time management. The folks here have their simple rules to follow when scheduling and it's really a seamless process that you can track digital, makes life a lot easier instead of guessing time frames. So yeah, if you're in a time crunch to get a cut, or if you're just need a new barber to build some tenure with, the homies over here are welcoming and professional.
