I started coming to Haiir Cuttery several months ago for blowouts on special occasions. I then decided to try them out for my color and cut as my regular hairdresser was going out on maternity leave. I have seen Rose each time for my color touchup and also for foils. She does an excellent job with the color and the styling as well. The only downside is it's a little bit pricier than I expected but if you buy a color package, it's quite a good deal for everything you get when you do the package. In any case, I love the convenience as it's right by my house and my color formula is kept in the system so I could go to any Haircuttery and they could see what I have done. DON'T GO HERE! I brought my 8 year old son here and asked for fade, she shaved a Number 1 up to his temples! Then turned on me and said I didn't tell her what to do, that she had to answer the company phone... so she just shaved his Head BALD!!! Overcharging customers with hidden charges that the manager, Desilu, refused to adjust! I went to have my hair colored and blown out... my bill totaled $158. I left with wet hair, horrible bangs and a charge for "extra color" on neck length hair. No explanation of extra charges were offered prior to checkout. I had no idea until presented with the charges that the $96 color package was not for a full color. When I called to complain, Desilu informed me that the $96 was for 1 oz of product! What? Who does business like this? How would a consumer know how much hair color is used? When I asked for the corporate contact, Desilu informed me that all they would do was send my complaint to her. I have been going here on and off for years . What keeps me coming back are the inexpensive blow. outs ... while other salons have more talented stylists- for someone who has their hair blown out weekly it keeps costs down. When I first started going it was 20 for a basic blow out . When the new owners took over it raised to 24 .i always booked basic as my hair is thick and heavily processed . I don't need the extra frying of my hair . A few weeks ago I went and saw Karene I liked her personality and she was pretty good although every time she flat ironed my hair. Every time I was charged 20/24 . Until the last time , I was in a hurry and we finished I paid and when I reached the car I realized I was charged 36. I text her she text me back no problem , I spoke with the manager and we will credit you the 12 dollars on the next visit . I said great thank you .. see you soon. Today I text her to make an appointment and reminded her of the 12 dollars. She text back this time I flat ironed your hair , you were charged correctly .. WHAT??? I never asked for flat ironing, never paid extra on the very few occasions it was done and was never told it would be 12.00 more , otherwise I would have told her not to do it at all. The fact that any business is willing to lose a weekly customer, let alone in pandemic times, is crazy to me .. but I'm sure there are so many better choices. read more

I scheduled an appointment to get a balayage. The online option said "Single color, partial Balayage, shampoo treatment, signature cut and blowout" which is the option I chose (picture attached). When I got there, I showed the hairdresser the picture how I want it done, then when she finished with the color she was about to start with the blowout and I asked what about the cut and she said, it's not included, so I told her it was included in the package, she insisted it wasn't, then the "manager" said "if you don't want to pay is ok we can call the police" I said we are just talking, I'm not refusing to pay, because she did the work for color, but I specifically chose the full package when I scheduled the appointment and now I have to pay separately. She was so aggressive with me, so I had to pay extra for cutting not blowing and when I got home I blow dried my hair, and can see in the picture I got highlights not a balayage paying more and not getting exactly what the package said and the picture I showed to her. Call hair cuttery at 7:42 told them I was two minutes away and asked if they could flat iron my hair really quick and that I was already blowed dried since they close at 8. They told me no and that they are done for the night. I work at rester aunt and if I told a guest no because we close at 8 my managers would rip me a new one. THIS Hair Cuttery was fantastic. Yes, they had a wait, and they had many appointments arriving all throughout the time I was there, but they smiled, were personable, saw me in a reasonable time frame, and didn't rush through at all. I got a great haircut, (Granted, I'm a simple cut, but still...) and was in and out in less than an hour, including the wait. The clientele here is... how shall we say... Geriatric. I mean, come on, it's Boca. But the Stylists are young enough to serve all ages, and I did see one or two other customers in their 30s and 40s while I was there. I'd not only recommend this Hair Cuttery, but I'd go again. (You know... The next time I'm visiting my Mother and have 5 inches of split ends to cut off.) read more

Then the manager Verna told me she would do my hair so I waited, but had to take a "personal phone" call outside which took 30 minutes. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL for a manager to do. I called for a haircut appointment and was told that my regular stylist was off that day. Desperate, I said, "I'll take whomever is available." I made an appointment for 3:00 PM. When I arrived, there were two operators free sitting doing nothing. The manager and assistant manager were very busy counting large amounts of money, talking and writing things down. I sat and waited for 20 minutes while this was going on. No one greeted me, or acknowledged me in any way. Finally, I walked up to the desk and announced myself. The new manager, herself, cut my hair all the while telling me what a great stylist she was, an how long she has been doing it and how wonderful her reputation was. She used the clippers, to save herself time, and as a result, I wound up looking like G.I. Joe. My daughter just laughed at how ridiculous I looked. My husband said it looked "INTERESTING". The atmosphere in the salon was cold and sterile. There was no friendly chatter. No chatter at all. I got a negative vibe as soon as I walked in. My gut was telling me to GET OUT OF HERE. If you have curly hair make sure they actually know how to cut it. Multiple people here have claimed to know how to cut curly hair or that they've done it for 30 years and completely butcher it. I had to go and pay someone to fix the mess that was my hair. A lady registered the two of us and since we didn't have an appointment, we had waited and waited for 45 minutes and during this time, nobody even gave us an update on how much longer we had to wait .... At least out of courtesy ... I then asked for a time estimate and a lady told us that after 10 minutes they can take both of us ... 15 minutes later, everyone seemed still busy. Be sure to read the last paragraph. I had some issues with self-coloring my roots and had some splotchy areas on my average length hair. I consulted one of the stylists here regarding a haircut and whether she could bring my hair to one color, a medium auburn which is my "birth" color. She assured me she was a Master Stylist and no problem. She brought a book of swatches and we found the perfect match, so I said let's do it. When the color was washed out I said it was too dark, but she said wait until it was dry. I got the cut and she styled it. I couldn't believe how dark it was--from medium auburn (with some gray) to dark chestnut all over, no red at all. She admitted she changed the color and didn't use the one we originally picked. I was in shock and left saying I liked the cut, which I did. I called the next day but she wasn't there and I had to wait until she returned two days later to discuss the matter. I came back and the same stylist put on something that was supposed to lighten, but it barely made a difference. Here is the irony: the price list gives the charges for the work, but there is a clause that says the price will be higher for a Master Stylist. What that price might be seems to be up to the stylist. I ended paying $92 for the color and cut, with no breakdown on the receipt. After three weeks of washing, my hair looked like a German shepherd's fur--darker on the bottom and blotchy on the top--worse than it did before the service. I ended up going to another salon and paying $70 to get it fixed. And it was exactly what I wanted. If the second salon could fix it, so could this Hair Cuttery, but they didn't. Here's something more to think about: shouldn't all stylists be competent enough to do the work? Why are there "Master Stylists" and why should customers have to pay more for them? Obviously, I won't go there again. ADVICE: 1.Get a breakdown of the charges before you agree to the work, so you know what you are paying for. 2. If you don't LOVE your color, ask for a refund of that portion of the charge; don't agree to go back to change the color. read more
