I have been following this place for the years since it opened and its rave reviews but somehow I never made it here as I was stuck in the rut of "State-Street-in -Media -only" hairdressing. There's approximately 11 salons on that street and small side streets so that is the area in Western Delaware County where everybody goes. State Street is the happening place to go to get your hair done. Chrome isn't within the downtown area per se but on the outskirts out by the Media bypass. And this is one of the reasons why I jumped out of my comfort zone and gave it a shot because they have their own parking lot and that's worth it's weight in gold instead of driving around for 10 minutes trying to find a parking spot in busy Downtown Media. That's where the differences end. This salon is just as active, vibrant ,upbeat and in tune with current styles and products as all those overpriced State Street salons. I tend to only want to stay with hairdressers for about five years so I was looking for somebody new and I selected SHERI M. I was not disappointed. She spent her time looking at my hair and the suggestions she had were great. This was indicative of her vast experience as a hairdresser. She has a true "feel "for her clients. The first time I went she cut my hair and I was very happy with it so I scheduled a foil touchup three weeks later. I was beyond happy with how I looked after I left there. When she found that I sometimes like to go to bed with my hair damp because it comes out wavy and curly in the morning, she suggested a product to put in before bedtime that would keep the curls intact but eliminate the frizz that has seemed to have developed in my hair in the last year. I love that this is a family owned and run salon. I hadn't met the owners but I met a man there recently who was doing shampooing who was somehow related to the family and he gave me the history of how Chrome came about. It was also interesting to hear that they had recently started their own hairdressing Academy. All in all you'll get a great feel for Chrome and enjoy your experience there. I know I'll certainly be back.

And inside it is SPACIOUS, with numerous different rooms... which means they are set-up really well for distancing. (I was impressed.) The one thing to be careful about is your exit. If you need to make a left turn across Baltimore Pike and if traffic is busy, I recommend you go right instead and do a u-turn at the first traffic light. (Much easier and safer.) (I go to Chrome for Mag. I'm a fan of hers. She's good at cutting curly/wild hair.)

My appointment was to cut a hair topper I had just purchased and also color my hair to match the topper color. It started with Karen, the stylist who cut the topper. She trimmed the length but did not do the layers I had requested. I let that go and moved on to color with Autumn. She noted the color of the topper which is a light brown with blonde highlights and my own hair which was a dark golden blonde. I clearly asked for just a light, neutral brown, with no red. Autumn reassured me multiple times, but I ended up with a very dark auburn color. She did not apologize, only suggested I come back the next day for a "correction" with Bridget. At that appointment, both Karen, the front desk person, and Bridget initially told me not to worry and that a correction would be made. Bridget explained she'd color over with a deeper brown and add highlights using a protective treatment. However, after mentioning I assumed this would be complementary, she left to talk to her 'manager' Patti, and came back saying they would not correct my hair because it might cause damage. I offered to take full responsibility, but after over an hour of waiting, Bridget said she had other clients, it would take 6 hours(!) and nothing would be done. I said I would not leave until speaking to the owner, Don, and finally was led to his basement office, where Karen (front desk), Bridget, and Patti stood by while Don confronted me. Instead of helping, Don berated me, blamed me for buying the topper, and then tried to bribe me into signing a waiver promising not to write a review in exchange for a refund on the cut. When I refused, he became hostile and intimidating. He said I would be sorry. Shaking and in tears, I called Platinum Hair Salon in West Chester. Their team, including the owner Gabby, was kind, professional, and fixed the color to a medium neutral brown with highlights. Gabby even properly textured the topper. The entire process took less than two hours and did not damage my hair. They were all appalled at the treatment I received at Calista. My experience at Calista was shocking. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and especially the threatening behavior from the owner left me shaken. I cannot recommend this business and would strongly caution others.

Assistant said, "I thought so, just wanted to check." Stylist said to "just give her a heavy condition." Cleaned out my purse a few days later and came across the invoice.$275 cut and color, $25 toner. I called and left a message at the salon and someone named Karen called me back and said the stylist said she applied toner. Nope.

I had total confidence in her even though my friends were against me getting bangs. I arrived and was greeted with a smile, we are off to a good start. I was taken back to to get shampo-ed. Then you enter the fun zone!!! Natalie and Mike (the owner have such great chemistry), it really makes the salon!!! I have my consultation with Natalie. We decide on a little bit of layers in my length to accentuate my side swept bangs. I have such a fun time while I am here and I love my hair.

Unfortunately, my haircut came with a lecture on why I MUST condition every day (despite explaining that I hate how it feels), and then, after I disclosed that I own a hair dryer but only use it a few times a year I go the response, "Why don't you dry your hair? Are you lazy?' Hair cut satisfaction aside (I'm not thrilled), I definitely won't be going back because of the attitude.

Not once have I had a complaint. They try extremely hard to please the client and every time I have gone my hair turns out better than expected. My hair has been very healthy, and has never looked better. The shop is very clean, and always have great jams on too. the conversation is always great. They have always remembered me! And they remember details, so it shows that they really care about you. Mary and her staff are the absolute best. And for your fabulous hair, the price is perfect!!!!
