I recently booked an appointment at The Hair Cuttery and shared with the receptionist exactly what I wanted, a short hairstyle along with blonde color. She assured me that Mandy was fully capable of achieving the cut and color I requested. When I arrived, Mandy seemed pleasant at first, but things quickly became concerning. She asked me which gauge she should use to cut my hair after I showed her the reference photo, which made me question her experience. When it came to the color, she used two different techniques that clearly weren't appropriate together, and when the color failed to take correctly, she blamed my hair type rather than acknowledging the mistake. Throughout the appointment, she took long personal phone breaks, and then shifted blame to the receptionist for booking me with her. I ended up removing myself from her chair after the wash because I no longer felt confident in her abilities. I immediately contacted management and explained everything to the manager, Jay. Jay saw me the next day to fix the situation. While she did manage to correct what Mandy had done, she also made excuses for why Mandy's results turned out so poorly, even though Mandy had claimed she was experienced with this type of cut and color. For context, my hair is a mixed Afro-Native American texture with small natural curls, which is still very workable for a skilled stylist. Although Jay originally said I would not be charged for the day prior due to the issues caused by Mandy, she ultimately decided to charge me anyway on top of my service with Jay. Her reason for the day prior charge was she felt that Mandy "did lift color." I paid the extra cost, but the entire experience left me extremely disappointed. I will not be returning to this salon, and I strongly caution others to be careful when booking here. read more

Madison at Hair Cuttery of Bartram is awesome!! She cut my thick, long bob today shorter with color & highlights....I brought a picture today (as she's been my stylist forever) and she added her own artistist work to make it perfect! She is an awesome stylist who always shares so many tips on how not only shorten my thick hair's drying time, but also tips on keeping the color/style in good shape....she's the best stylist I have ever gone to & everywhere I go people ask me who does my hair! I am 50 years old. I've gotten thousands of haircuts done and this is by far the worst one. My hair was cut with no regard to how it would style and the stylist even cut an area so short I have a new bald spot. This place is ridiculous. I don't go around complaining about haircuts (hair grows) but this is too bad, too horrendous for me to not say anything. Avoid this place like you're running for your life. read more

My kids got a decent cut the girl who cut their hair was not kid friendly at all. Even thiugh they were a little squirmy, she could have been nice about it. Then after leaving her a great tip, $12.00 on $30.00 that she didn't deserve, she ran into the parking lot to tell us my charge didn't go through, so we went back in and then she's like never mind, it went through sorry. Tim RUINED my hair by coloring wrong and cutting it to the point that it really couldn't be corrected! He didn't even apologize for screwing up my hair! He's smug and arrogant and didn't listen to anything I said! He shouldn't be allowed near anyone's hair with scissors or a bottle of color! I went for a trim yesterday, asked to keep the length, said I wanted very light feathering at the bottom just to help not show breakage and she cut off over 6 inches. My hair was almost to my waist and not it's just below my shoulder blades. I've been growing it out for 9 years with regular trims and I've never had this issue before. Avoid this place. My stylist was a 29 year old guy ( forgot his name) who gave me the worst haircut of life! And he had the audacity to tell me he only screwed up the bangs and rest of the haircut was good. And everybody is allowed one mistake! How dare he! I wish I could do some thing more than just writing a bad review. Never ever is me or my family going there for a haircut. Avoid this place. All I can do now is sit and wait for my hair to grow back. read more

This is more about the stylist who cut my hair than the salon, not that there was anything wrong with the salon. It was clean, no one was talking on their cell phones, and the environment was comfortable. Oksana gave me a great cut and she spoke with me about the cut as she was cutting. I had a lot of hair cut off and she was diligent to ensure she was cutting what I wanted. She did an amazing job and was so professional, and I have to say, she did not have a good head of hair to start with after my three bad experiences with other stylists in other salons. Horrible customer service today. We have been going to this hair cuttery since they opened and have known many of the stylist for years. NOT AFTER TONIGHT THOUGH!!!!!! MY DAUGHTER AND I WALKED IN AT 5:28 and the woman at the desk(she had a short short haircut and it was colored I believe pink and black)literally just stared at me with the angriest face as I stood there waiting to tell her why we were there, which was to get our eyebrows waxed(which we normally tip 50% on so this was an easy tip for a 5 minute service). When I went to speak after being just stared at , she abruptly interrupted me stating with attitude that they were closed. I asked her,"you are closed?" and turned to look at the sign that says the times to see that they had taken it down. From experience I know their hours are until 6 and also from their website. On top of the fact that the attitude and way that she stared at and talked at me was disgusting. You have lost long term customers all over a rude and nasty employee! read more
