Never coming back here again! I just paid $70 (including tip, which I regret) for my 9 year olds haircut. Cut and blow dry = $40 then Evelyn (the stylist) had the nerve to add $14 cause my daughter has "long hair". Does shoulder length hair constitute as long and an additional $14? If I knew I'd pay over $60 I would've gone to a full service salon that serves water. Pretty shocked and regret leaving a tip. I went in last minute to get a haircut for myself and my daughter. It was our first time here. We got Nelly, who is a recent addition to the location. She was very easy going, welcoming and funny. She made sure she verified what exactly we wanted to do, how much length to take off, etc. She did a great job and I will definitely be coming back to her. I had been going there for years and Rosa was cutting my hair for maybe 10 years then covid hit. I was cutting my own hair this whole time til yesterday. It was so long and damaged so I needed a professional to step in. My Rosa is no longer there, and I didn't expect her to be. An older gentleman cut my hair. I don't know his name. He was very nice, but it was probably the worst haircut I've ever had and probably the fastest. He did listen to me about cutting the length, but I explained I knew my bangs were cut wrong since I was doing them for almost 6 years myself . I got home and they were SOOOO bad...not straight whatsoever, it was like he only cut half of them. i wish I had taken a picture to post here as well. I didn't want to go back so once again I cut them myself. I also read a past review from someone else who mentioned the blow dryer burning her and her hair was not even all the way dry. I think this was the same man because I too experienced the exact same thing. Next time I'll ask who is their most popular stylist and make an appointment with that person, or just find a new salon. read more

Just like the lady who got 7 inches cut off, Maria also cut my hair, I asked her to leave it just below the top of my ear, it was way shorter, not even close. I asked for about a 1/2 inch or an inch off the back, again it was way shorter, not even close. I gave her a nice tip and when I got home I realized just how short it was. I've been struggling with getting my hair cut the way I ask for it to be cut for almost 50 years. I sit down and tell them how I want it cut and they just do what they want. What am I supposed to do. Had the worst experience in my life today, went there to get a blowout, worst blowout I every had, I had an older man don't remember his name. He kept pulling my hair out with the brush he had the blow dryer on the hottest heat it burned my head several times. I was in tears throughout the entire 45 mins it took to finish my hair. I kept telling him I part my hair on the side he did not listen I kept telling him Do Not puff up my bangs I wear them straight and he kept doing what he wanted. He was entirely too rough for me!! Not going back to this place. This computer system is always a mess. I get told we don't have 2 appointments for my children even though I clearly have a text confirming the two appointments. The stylist Patrick did not even fix my child's part (please see photo of daughter's part) before he cut off way more than the split ends as I requested. Then he handed me the brush and asked me to brush my daughter's hair. I informed him that I am not the stylist. He then said her hair was done. But I insisted that he brush her hair to make sure it was even. Sure enough it was not and he found more pieces to fix. And then when it's time to leave, again the guy can't figure out how to use the computer system. Sure enough when I get home and fix my daughter's part she has all these uneven long pieces. Clients want to walk out with more confidence than we walked in with, and I hope this experience helps Tien to create that atmosphere. * Original review: I had a last minute event come up that I needed to get my roots done for. My regular Aveda salon couldn't fit me in, so I went to Hair Cuttery, and I had no wait- yay! I opted for a trim and root touch up. A few things were strange. I was asked to sign a waiver at the beginning of the appointment, I don't remember ever being asked to sign a waiver but people sue for weird things so okay. The waiver had a section that asked what the "child's" age was. The woman cutting my stylist Tien asked me to put my age. I said it seemed strange, and she said " So sorry, required" Okay. After my hair was dyed Tien shampooed my hair with very cold water. I asked if she could warm it up, and she said "no better for you!" And yelled something about my hair being too thin. She kind of tried to massage my head and forehead and it really hurt, I let her know and she continued. She again let me know my hair was too thin. It is, I have a medical condition and the medical treatment makes your hair fall out, and it has grown back, but still. I came in with the hair I have, I'm just asking you to cut and dye it lady. I resigned myself to just getting through the rest of the appointment. She looked up a few pictures to ask what kind of hair cut I would like I showed her a long layered bob and told her when I do the blow dry brush, I curl it under. I just asked her to trim the cut that I have, and not touch the long bangs. I was scrolling and not realizing that she cut my bangs short, I asked her to stop as I said not to touch the bangs, she wanted to even it out, but I had to physically stop her from snippng again. I should have just gotten up at that point, but I figured if I could just carefully watch it would prevent any other mishaps. It didn't. My previous haircut had the bob angled so that the front was just slightly longer. When I realized she was cutting the front shorter, it was already too late, and I had the beginnings of a bowl haircut. I said wait, I don't want it angled, I want it layered, like it was. She replied that "No, that's good for your thin hair, you get angle, it's too thin to do layers." I explained that I don't want an angle! I know I have thin hair, and you've mentioned it. She cut some layers into my hair, and if not a bowl, it looks like I have a mushroom cut. I should have just gone to my event with gray roots, it would have been better than spending one cent there. And the topper was that when I paid the lowest tip option was 20%- I will always leave a tip even for bad service because I did my time as a waitress. I went in for a trim, I asked for 1/2 an inch max. I HAD long hair until a stylist named Maria started cutting my hair. The worst haircut I have ever received. Not only is it extremely uneven the back is super short layers and the front has no layers. My hair got completely chopped off in random places and looks like hell. When I proceeded to tell her this is NOT what I asked for she was not listening insisting that this is exactly what I wanted. Who wants 7 inches cut off their hair when they simply asked for a 1/2 inch clean up?? She should not be allowed to cut anyone else's hair, Maria is extremely unprofessional, not knowledgeable of hair, and rude. I wish I can give negative stars! read more

I've gotten multiple balayages from her as well as numerous haircuts. She always listens to my wants and delivers exactly that. As a guy who has never had his hair dyed before, I went into Hair Cuttery extremely nervous. When I walk i was welcomed with a "do you have an appointment?" i said yes? and they proceeded to look me up and saw my name. i had called a 4 days in advance to let them know I would like a trim and a complete blonde hair dye. When they had me seated they told me I would have to come back if I wanted my hair dyed and that for now they would do a haircut (a trim). I told them I needEd my hair dyed and that's what I had called on the phone for. They eventually went throw with dying my hair which was really only blonde high lights and looked absolutely nothing like what I had asked for. They made me feel like I was burdening them the entire time and felt very rushed. I would never go back there in my life. Horrendous customer service & an awful first time getting my hair dyed. read more

The experience and service itself was great during the haircut but when I got home and my hair dried, I combed it and noticed two sections where my hair wasn't cut at all. Then yesterday I noticed a few additional strands that hadn't been cut. Finally this morning I noticed another half-inch wide section that was never cut. I went to the Park Ridge location on 11/1/23. My twin sister had been there a couple of days before. She had a good experience. I did not have an appointment. There were only two stylists there, a middle aged man and a middle aged woman. I had to take the middle aged man. He did not tell me his name and was very argumentative. I asked for the senior discount (which my twin sister had gotten) and he said that I couldn't have the discount because I was only paying $40.00. He didn't ask me how I wanted my hair cut or how much I wanted to cut off. When he cut my hair he didn't make any sections he just cut right through the whole thickness of my hair. When he was drying my hair, I had to ask him to turn down the temperature on the hair dryer because it was burning my skin. He didn't talk to me at all while he was working on me. He did an okay job blow drying my hair. When he was done, my part was in the wrong place so I went to fix it and he told me "Don't touch it" He didn't ask me if I wanted hairspray he just started spraying it on me. I told him no. When I paid, he told me that I couldn't have a receipt. Luckily the other lady stylist heard him and came over to show him how to get a receipt for me. I did give him a tip although I don't think that he really deserved one. All in all it was not a pleasant experience at all. Someone should really talk to him about his attitude. Update to my last review: I emailed corporate on Friday after getting the chop job, and also called the location + corporate on Saturday. They said the district manager would reach out to me. It's Wednesday and they still haven't reached out to me. I went to the location once again to see if I could get a refund, but the manager still wasn't there. Yeah, you would think by now I'd hear something, but that is not the case here. Also, I understand it's $24 gone, but the stylist who cut my hair blamed me for coming in in the first place, and that was not cool. I am determined to get this refund. I took my daughter to Hair Cuttery because the schedule worked and I wanted her to have a hair cut for the holidays. Emma was amazing with my five year old daughter . I had a terrible experience at this Hair Cuttery yesterday. Now I know why I usually stick to high end hair salons for cuts. But I needed a simple trim and thought this was a good idea. I was wrong. Roxy cut my dead ends off and then asked if she could add light layers to my thin hair. I said sure, light layers in the back. and no bang/angle in the front because I want it all one length. I ended up with mixed match choppy pieces in my front. I was mortified. I looked silly. I went back in the evening and Carla angled both sides out and it looks better. Tried to call to see if they were taking walk-ins or appointment-only but the phone only gave a busy signal each time I called. Showed up anyway and stood there (no chairs) with no one greeting me, everyone avoiding even looking in my direction, and just failing to acknowledge me altogether. Awkward. After like 15 minutes, one of them finished their haircut and went to the register to cash out the customer and finally had to say something to me I guess. She asked if I had an appointment, I said "No are you appointment only?" She said "Yes, I could set you up for tomorrow." No thanks. If a polite greeting is too hard for these guys, I worry about their hair styling abilities. Also, how are they taking appointments when their phone has a constant busy signal? I had the worst haircut of my life here and my advice to any woman with longer hair is to beware. I asked for "long layers" and got a choppy mess of short, random, and unblended pieces. I've been wearing my hair in a ponytail for months...it's that bad. Unless you are getting a very basic trim, less than an inch, and nothing else, be careful with this place. I have had a couple decent stylists here, so it absolutely depends on who you get. But I've had more poor haircuts than not, and this last experience was the last straw. Better to pay a little more and not have to wear a hat to hide how ugly your haircut is. This is for the Park Ridge location.. I have been here twice and each time I have left with a bad experience. Obviously will not be a third time. Let me start with the first time. I was recommended by a friend and to ask for Saliba which I did. I had looked at their menu online and knew approximately what I'd be paying. I figured it would be in the 130 dollar range which I was fine with. I did read some of the reviews prior to going so I knew they had loads of bad reviews. Bad me, I went anyway. I must say I was very happy with the cut not so happy with the color but that was not their fault.. I am a very easy person to please. What I don't like are business's that try to scam and nickel and dime you to death without explaining up front. As I said I was very happy with the cut.. I had already tipped my stylist 20 bucks prior to going to pay at the cashier she was putting whatever she puts into the computer and came up with a price of 170 something dollars. I was a bit surprised but paid the money and left.. I was very tired because I had been up since about 1am and it was now nearly 3:15pm and just wanted to get home. About 2 months later I called to make an appointment with the same gentleman and questioned her about their fees. I asked how much a haircut was since I was not going to get color and she said it depended on the stylist. I told her who and she had me hang on and then told me it would be 33 dollars. I explained how I felt the last time I was there and she didn't say anything. Ok.. I went to my appointment and since I had already washed my hair that morning I did not want it washed again. I asked him if he could just spray wet it and do the cut and he said no problem.. I was in the chair for less than 20 minutes when he handed me a mirror and said, OK?.. I was shocked. It was still partially wet and I could see it was going to frizz up.. I again gave him a tip but this time 10 dollars. I then proceeded to pay at the cashier. I got to my car and briefly look in the rear view mirror and could see had just chopped chopped and that it wasn't a finished haircut. I was running my fingers through my hair and there were patches that had never been cut and were hanging down to my shoulders while the rest was way above my shoulders. He put no product in my hair and of course by the time I got home my hair had looked like some kid that chops off their own hair. I had a girlfriend over and she asked me why I didn't go to have my hair done. I said I did and she was horrified by what she was looking at. I had a mass head of frizzy hair that looked like exactly what he did CHOP CHOP.. It was NOT a finished haircut. I then realized it is their attitude.. If they would tell people you have the option of a crappy 33 dollar haircut and one more expensive I would had taken the more expensive, I have no problem paying more money. What I do have a problem with is the seller lying and charging more. They need to explain their charges or have them on a brochure or board.. My husband and I run 2 business' and all our customers are treated with and given the same high level of service regardless of what they are paying. What they give is attitude. I went back today to look at the reviews and noticed the exact same canned response to almost every negative feedback.. Really?? I also would like to say that I heard many elderly woman and men asking about the senior discount that they say they have but each and everyone of them was turned down for one reason or another.
