I was greeted by a super nice receptionist, which put some of my nerves at ease (first time dying my hair heheh). The inside of the salon was very spacious and comfortable. Products were also nicely organized on the shelves. I asked SUZIE CERVANTES to take on the grueling task of lightening my asian dark brown hair to light blonde. She informed me that it may take multiple sessions as to avoid damaging my hair. So far, I am very pleased with the current color! I'm still planning on going lighter, so I will be going back :) Suzie was also kind enough to let me text her if I ever had a questions on hair products, etc I just wished she explained more of the process of lightening my hair and what she's actually doing during each step. For example, she was using a comb to push pieces of my hair against my scalp before applying the bleach. I was curious what that was for... Some people are scared of the dentist, I'm scared of the hairdresser! I used to go to Susie when I was in elementary school when they were located next to the creamery. Once I graduated high school, I moved out of Stockton & hadn't been back since. During my time away I bleached, colored, ombre'd, flat ironed, blow dried, etc. without cutting it for 4 years. Anyway, i came to Stockton to visit my parents and decided I should get my hair cut, since Stockton prices are way more affordable than where I live. I called up Susie and she was able to get me an appointment for the same day. I wanted to chop my hair to an A-line long bob. I came into Hair Discovery after waiting in "another" nail salon for over 35 minutes past my supposed 10 minute wait time. I was short on time because I had a party to attend that day. I called Hair Discovery and I didn't have to wait much more than 5 minutes once I walked thru the door (without an appointment). Hilda cut and styled my hair :) I've had my hair cut (layered) with 3 different stylists before Hilda and no one could even tell my hair was cut. I have very thick hair. Everyone loves my hair cut :) Nikki gave me an awesome pedicure (she chose the color and everyone loved it at the party and, of course, I do too)!!! And, Olga waxed my eyebrows. She was so patient waiting for me to finish my pedicure and she took her time waxing my eyebrows :) I definitely recommend Hair Discovery. This review is for Lanna who did my nails. I got the mani/padi deal except I upgraded the mani and got acrylics for an extra $25. The pedi comes with foot spa/scrub/callus removal & massage! So worth it. She took her time and didn't rush specially during the massage part. The only reason why I didn't give her 5 stars was because my appointment time got changed to 5:30 which was originally 5 and when I got there I had to wait because she was finishing up with another customer. Service has never been "great" for me unfortunately, but the prices are very reasonable. I just wish it would be consistent. I've gotten a cut and color (same process on two different occasions) and have paid a considerable difference in prices. Either way, I'm not complaining because the prices are MUCH better than any other salon I've been to. My only complaint is the extremely long wait. The first time I went it was around 30 minute AFTER my scheduled appointment that my stylist started working on me. The second time I went in I was hoping for a better experience but in fact it was over an hour of me sitting in the lobby before she started. I would have came back if the receptionist didn't tell me it would only be "20 minutes". I'm usually pretty satisfied with the outcome of the results (hence the reason I've now gone to the same stylist twice in a row) BUT my color has faded both times in less than 3 weeks. Not sure if its my hair type or if its the product but I've never experienced this at another salon. The salon is gorgeous and there are a ton of very talented stylists. Disappointed as a new client who was intending to return. I came to see Marlene. I didn't care if I went to the ugliest salon on earth or with the rudest stylist I just wanted good hair. Which is why I drove an hour to see Marlene. From the pictures of her work you can see she works with a lot of Latina and Asian hair types. I needed that experience because I know my hair can be difficult to lift and it turns brassy quick... I didn't hate my hair but I didn't love what I saw the next day after I washed it and saw it in daylight. I noticed my root area was pretty brassy. I wanted my dark root to stay, I have naturally dark hair. It's a bit embarrassing for me to tell someone that your not 100% satisfied with the end result of their work... but I really felt I needed to minimum get my root darkened up to feel better about my hair. Not to mention the money I had spent, I felt it was okay to call and ask. So I called back the next day to ask if Marlene could address the issue and do the root. I was told by the receptionist that she would rely the message and get back to me. I was thinking the same day....since I called early. Maybe the next day in the AM. Nothing, so I called back the following day and I was told that Marlene had not given any "feedback" yet. I gave her the days I was available to come as I live 1 hour aways plus I have to arrange child care. She said she'd note it down and when she had news either she, the receptionist, or Marlene would call me back. Two weeks later from my first call, here we are today. No call, no nothing from neither the salon or Marlene. Not sure if she just refused to do it or if she felt she did what I wanted and that was that. Sucks because I have to find another person to "touch it up." With that said if you are unsatisfied with your hair, don't bother to call to get it touched up, you will be ignored. read more

I received a color melt and cut here with Suzie. The color melt came out fine, but the cut is awful. I even came back to have the stylist correct the cut, wish I hadn't. The cut is even worse and now I have to find someone else to correct it and continue to lose length on my hair (not to mention pay for the service again). If you're going to book an appointment with Suzie, DO NOT get a haircut. As I mentioned, the color melt came out nice, but the cut is horrible. Was in this cute salon for the first time today for a nail appt, yes they have 2 nail stations, with Lanna and while the salon was great, convenient location with good parking and welcoming people, Lanna is an awesome nail stylist! She recently moved into a station at this location but has been doing my nails for awhile now. She always takes her time and is willing to try the designs I find online. Theresa did my hair and worst experience ever because she left me under the heater with foils on my head for almost 2 hours with bleach while working on her other clients and forgot all about me, my head was on fire!! ! I was so dehydrated from the heat on my head and felt like I was walking in the Sahara desert not once did she check the integrity of my hair,asked me how I'm doing, then left me in the sink for almost 40 min (while working on other clients) with the danm toner just to get it blond, then she blowed dried the shit out of it extreme heat combing and tugging roughly on my hair and scratching my scalp with the harshes brush while my hair is all falling off , not once did she talk or communicated with me about wtf was going on with my hair, Hella over charged me over $200 just to fry and then loose half my hair in a week!! I went here yesterday with a last minute appointment with Hilda . I wanted to brighten up my blonde because it was brassy and I let my roots grow out significantly . I showed Hilda a picture of the blonde I wanted it to lighten up to, I wasn't sure if that would take a few sessions but I understood if it would be a process . She bleached my hair leaving my roots in bleached so it was near my scalp which has 3 inches of virgin hair. My hair is extremely dead at my roots and she was telling me it was because my ends were dry which I could understand if my ends had this problem but the damage is near my scalp. I would have preferred to barely lift a shade then get this dead gray color near my roots so I can't even cut it ! I'm so disappointed and on top of that I had to hear the stylist complain about their clients do not go here ! read more

This one is for Marlene . First off I will start with her instagram I had no idea who this hair stylist was until a friend of mine showed me the work that she did and how amazing it looked . Well shall I say I was hair cat FISHED. Her hair work is nothing like her pictures I went in for a consult than booked an appointment showed up at 10:30 but wasn't sat UNTILL 11. Than she asked me for an inspiration picture which I showed her during the consult and again the day of . Never once did she say my hair was too damaged or too dark and that my hair would look nothing like what I was asking . 4 hours later she is blow drying my hair and styling it for me to question where is the balayage ? And why is my hair the same color I came in with ? My hair was completely blended Browns couldn't tell I did anything to it 165+ tip later . She didn't explaine anything of the process to me and didn't tell me what so ever while my hair was processing that it wasn't going to work out how I was expecting , yet again her Instagram pictures are an absolute LIE!!!! I left absolutely UNHAPPY . Meeting her for the first time and getting my hair done with her is a no no for me again . Seems like she's uncomfterable doing clients hair who she doesn't not know . I called the next day to complain about my hair because I didn't like the color and the receptionist said she would relate the message and that Marlene would be calling me back . End of the day rolls around and no call back . I call back the next day and the receptionist sounded irritated with me as she knew who I was again calling for Marlene where she than answer "well you have Marlene's number you can call her ", what do you know I texted because I know she is busy 1 week later never got a response no text back no phone call !!!! She is very unprofessional and doesn't stand behind her work . Should learn how to humble her self when it comes to people and there money and there HAIR!!!!!!! Had she responded than I wouldn't be yelping . Let me start off by saying I drove almost two hours to get my hair done here. I was very excited because I was finally ready to cut the brass from my hair, but I was deeply disappointed. My hair stylist was Suzie and unfortunately she had another client and forgot about me, so the toner stayed in for too long. I also think she used a developer that was too strong for my hair and I have lost the Integrity of my hair. Personally I would not come back or refer a friend because of this poor experience and as for my reddish tinted hair I had to do my own research on how to remove this tone from my hair. read more

I used to come here all the time back when Hair Discovery was located off of Robinhood and Pacific.. I got my hair done here from my prom up to my bridal shower. But I recently went here at their new location to with my mom because she wanted a trim. She has short hair that stops at her neck. We first had to wait so long, like 45 minutes. When my mom finally got in her seat the girl (don't remember her name) did my moms cut quickly. When she finished it was ok, not all that, I went to go pay and the receptionist said $35!! What? Really? So not worth it, I don't know if they hiked up their prices because they moved recently and they need the money or what but I am not coming back here again..
