I requested a haircut, dye, and low lights. I showed her. The picture of myself with that style and color when my hair was at its best. After one hour and 45 minutes in the chair and being handed off to an assistant. I knew I was in trouble. The (nervous busy talking) should have been my first warning sign, to my detriment,I ignored it. Not washing my hair, but instead rinsing it with ice cold water, maybe that should've been my first warning sign. not dabbing away the dye that was running down my forehead, yet scrubbing my forehead vigorously, because it was staining my forehead...yeah, another warning sign. In short, I should never have left my old stylist, no matter how ornery he has become. Because now my hair is butchered and I have an Eddie Munster /blood red kewpie doll thing going on. i'm stopping writing this now so I can go try to fix my head before my husband arrives and teases me endlessly. BTW the owner, Sonia, apparently, is more interested in revenue, and getting warm butts in the chairs. In my opinion quantity over quality does not work in the hair industry, ask any girl who has been butchered like me and they will tell you, " please, take your time, and if you think you're getting it wrong STOP iMMEDIATELY, ask me what do you think so far? I wanted to try a new place, so I came in based on the reviews posted - but now I am not sure Those reviews were true or maybe all those reviews were for a particular stylist that is no longer there. I went in for a haircut, balayage and end up with root touch up and haircut .. and what a disappointment. Color is not blended right so now my roots are way darker than the rest of my hair... and when it was time for the hair cut .. another stylist had to come and finish the cut, and still not right. She told me not to worry about it, once I wash my hair the brown will tone down - and it has not. Long story short make sure you have a quote on the price before they start your treatment because they make up prices to charge you if you decide to go here. I called to ask for pricing on a single color demi dye, and was told 55. When i went for my consult the lady said it would be 30 per bowl and my hair would need 2. She dyed my hair and when it was time to check out said it was 90. When i asked why, she said she used 3 bowls. I paid it but it didn't sit well with me. I call back and the lady answered and said yes it's 55 like she said over the phone but that was for roots only and then extra for length. But then when i started mentioning the bowls she gave it to the girl who did my hair. And said she gave me a deal by charging me for the bowls only and no the 55 on top of it. I'm updating my review because Hair Flair and Julie deserve 5 stars! After my first visit to Julie, I knew this was where I needed to stay. She's consistently awesome. Last time I came in, I randomly decided to do some color (I had only done cuts with her in the past, so she had no reason to schedule me for longer) and she accommodated me with no problem. She gave me some fabulous highlights along with a red color that I love. I've also bought the groupon, and although Julie doesn't honor it, she recommended another stylist at the salon who would (I'm pretty sure it was Melissa). She did a fabulous job as well. Was looking for a place, other than these economy haircut mills, that would provide at least a better quality gentleman's haircut for the higher price they charge. They assured me they could provide and scheduled me with one of the owners (Oscar) but, switched me to another stylist upon my arrival without explanation. During the cut, Oscar would hover by giving silent supervision to the stylist. When the stylist announced she was finished, I realized from the resulting poor job that I had unwittingly been a training subject for an inexperienced stylist! Sonya stated the following when I called while having a breakdown because of how terrible my haircut and my experience with this salon was and her answer to me was "We do not specialize in your hair , we don't specialize in ethnic hair ,we don't have the essential oils for it and the products that you need that's why I can't do your hair how you're used too" ?????????? I would like to start off by saying I asked BEFORE HAND if her Salon can do black people hair she said "ethnic hair is fine" So I did a deal they had going on that came with a haircut , conditioner , and BLOW OUT , they didn't specify what kind , so I got a treatment which was fine, She then sent me in her chair and started blow drying my hair while putting my hair into the shape of a small Afro , (I was assuming she was going to stretch out my hair with a blow dryer before my blowout like the rest of the stylist do instead she Pats my hair into an Afro identical to Bob Ross and is still blowing it on a low setting and proceeds to blindly cut around my hair like a Chia pet just cutting away (disregarding the fact that ethnic hair has shrinkage when wet hence she knows she is not knowledgeable AT ALL with our hair.) I saw multiple healthy curls on the floor keep in mind my hair was starting to go down my back it was a very good length And yes I had some split ends but my length could've been saved if she wouldn't have blindfully cut my hair keep in mind she was the salon owner and she was asking other stylist on advice how to cut my hair hence she didn't know what she was doing , I told her multiple times black people hair grows in layers and she kept mentioning she didn't wanna touch my layers ... didn't understand that ....So sometime after she was done cutting at my hair and patting it into an Afro (weird) she asked me if that's dry enough for me and I said sure assuming she was going to proceed to stretch it out instead she starts grabbing my coat and my purse to hand to me so I looked at her and asked her "you're done ?" And she proceeds to say "oh you wanted me to straighten it"she was about to send me on my way with a damp Afro ...... I told her yes the deal came with a blowout and I wanted to Silk blow out , she proceeded to say that she did not know what that was and she doesn't have any of those products for my hair and so I just let her straighten it she did a half assed job she did not touch ONE ROOT on my scalp and did not even attempt to style my hair the way I showed her which was simply just bumping in the ends. So I left with some thing that my i could've done a WAY BETTER job myself FOR FREE . Even though the deal stated I get a blowout she still charge me $25 extra to straighten my hair and she stated it would be an up charge depending on how thick my hair is and my hair was in a very manageable state and it was de tangled , prestretched and clean before I got there . If you don't believe me here is the picture of how uneven she cut my hair ,she blindly cut my hair my hair it was going down my back none of the rest of the hair on my head is this short embarrassing length that she left it at I CANNOT EVEN DO MY BASIC EVERY DAY BUN because my hair is so short at the bottom. , I DEFINITELY deserved a full refund and she is refunding me $20. I paid $70 in total not including her tip she didn't deserve . She even asked me to come pick up the $20 LOL ...... This salon is not black friendly or accommodating, and this just shows a lack of basic respect and morals . I bought a LS voucher with many services. Thinking it'll be great! But what a disappointment! Upon arrival I was not welcomed with a drink like the other lady had. They never offered me one. Melissa cut my long hair after I showed her a picture of what I wanted. She cared less to look at the picture. She then dyed my hair and left my forehead very stained. She didn't even bother to apply anything on my forehead before, knowing that it'll be a dark color. I had a wedding right after so I wanted to get there all ready to go. But had to come home hopeful it'll come off. It didn't. Sonia began cutting my hair. She doesn't even ask me what style I wanted so I showed her a picture of what I wanted. She began telling me all the reasons why the girl in the picture looked like that. That it was because she had a lot of chemicals and that she straightens her hair. How does she know that I don't? It was so odd. I told her that I straightened my hair too but didn't care to listen. I was so upset that she just cut a few pieces not layered at all and began blow drying it. She kept saying. It looks so good, I'm thinking I just want her to be done, go home and fix it. It was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone. I wish I could fly back from Los Angeles just to have Sonia cut my hair. Deplorable service! I checked in with my app to this location because it stated a 12 minute wait...perfect timing during my lunchtime from work. When I arrived less than 5 minutes later, I was informed it would be a 34 minute wait. I checked my app again and it still read 12 minutes. Long story short, I was unhappy with the results. She referred me to the manager, who probably called me but I had family flying in town & we were getting things ready for my surgery. It was nice while we were doing my hair but Alexis messed up my hair in the end, gave me false information about me coming back to get it to the color we discussed then yelled at me to pay $100 again and told me I wasted 3 hours of her day although I paid like everyone else with large tip. I went in yesterday with a living social voucher. The owner, Sonia, was very honest and upfront. I have very long hair so there was a minimal up charge, but nothing that would make me walk out. Also my hair is very dark and she told me that the color I wanted might not be as bright as I want but she would give it a go if I wanted. It turned out beautiful. Although it was a little more subdued than I originally wanted it is probably for the best due to my job. I'm more than happy to give 5 stars to this place all because of my hairdresser Alexis. This salon is very clean, neat, elegant and they even offer wine on occasion! But what really has me coming back is Alexis. I've gone to a decent amount of hairdressers before but have never come back. I've been going to her for the past few months now and I'll never go anywhere again as long as they have her! She is AMAZING with coloring and she's the only one that got me out of my comfort zone. She got me to try something other than "natural" hair colors and I'm in love with it. Her styling is beautiful as well. But honestly, her personality is the greatest thing about her.
