I really value the time Jenny takes to communicate and explain what I can expect and what my options are based on my history and goals. I have always wanted lighter hair but was always afraid of the potential damage of this process. Thankfully, Jenny always prioritized my hair health! It took us 3 sessions to get to my current goal of VERY light blonde and through it all, Jenny did what was needed to keep my hair long and strong. It felt easy to trust Jenny with my hair as she explained everything to me along the way. She's also very open to feedback so I was very comfortable letting her know when my color goals changed. She was very flexible and got me to my new goals. I absolutely love my new hair; there's so much depth and the colors of my hair blend so smoothly. I also really appreciate how seriously the salon takes COVID-19 protocols. They do not permit walk-ins and do not double book so there is never anyone waiting for a session in the salon. The chairs are well spaced out and they seem to plan it so that not all the chairs are occupied to maintain more than adequate social distancing. At arrival, customer temps are taken and we're instructed to wash our hands before taking a seat. Each chair is immediately wiped down after each service and masks are required while in the salon. I think it's great that they do everything they can to make the customers feel safe.

I am posting this update so consumers have full context following my initial review…read more Since the appointment, the condition of my hair has continued to deteriorate significantly. I have experienced severe loss of curl pattern and elasticity, excessive breakage, and a brittle, straw-like texture that did not exist prior to this service. The haircut is no longer wearable due to the damage and never able to enjoy the color service since it was defective, not only 4 shades darker then discussed/referenced but permanently damaged. Despite multiple good-faith attempts to resolve this directly and privately, the owner/stylist has not responded, acknowledged the issue, or offered any remedy. Due to the ongoing damage and lack of professional accountability, I have submitted a formal complaint to the New Jersey Board of Cosmetology for review. this has cost me about $800 between the defective services, permanent hair damage and restorative professional products. I am sharing this update so others can make informed decisions.

Teresa did an incredible job coloring my hair blond, matching my color and deeply conditioning my hair after the color, which I need because my hair is delicate and breaks easily. She was very attentive to my concerns and made sure I was happy. She trimmed my hair perfectly, not cutting too much as I prefer to keep my hair long. We had a lovely conversation in both English and Spanish. We even had a nice hug before I left. I am so pleased to have found my new hairdresser. Gracias Teresa!! :)

I had an appointment with Irene, who suggested that hot rollers would hold a better curl on my medium length, fine blonde hair. I was skeptical, but when she explained that she had been at the salon for 20 years, I decided to trust her. It came out looking really nice. I was pleasantly surprised when I was only charged $27 and asked Irene if she did foil highlights. She said she did, so I made an appointment for the following week. I am used to spending about $200 on foil highlights and a haircut, so I was thrilled thinking that maybe I found a hidden gem and would be saving money. NOT SO FAST! I arrived for my scheduled 10:30 appointment. When Irene finally took me at 11:15, she told me that we should do cap highlights instead of foils. I told that I have only ever gotten foils and wanted foils. I prefer a more natural look and wanted some contrast with highlights and lowlights. She said that the cap will come out better. I was EXTREMELY skeptical and nervous and uncomfortable, which I conveyed to her, but she assured me that it was going to look great. I decided to trust her because she said she was an experienced stylist and maybe she knew something I didn't? She spent an hour pulling my hair through the cap. Pulled practically all of my hair through the cap. Put one color on my hair and explained that "the hair that I didn't pull through will become your lowlights". Said the cap was better because "she had more control over the color". I sat there for three hours completely stressed out and feeling like I had made a huge mistake. Unfortunately I was right. My hair is all one color, way, way, WAY too light - a yellow/platinum blonde - no highlights! My dark roots are prominent - the color starts about a half-inch from my head. My hairline is uneven and I cannot pull my hair back because the color was not applied to the root. I look like I just stepped out of a trailer park! I'm sure I could have done a better job myself with a box of dye! The place is a very small, close-knit group of stylists and I did not want to cause a scene or get ganged-up on, so I mumbled, "It looks nice", paid $105, got in my car and broke down in tears. Clearly, Irene does not know how to do highlights, and she should not have represented to me that she did. This salon is a revolving door of elderly women with helmet hair and men. Bottom line is, do not go to this salon for any type of color. Lesson learned: If you are used to going to upscale salons, don't try to cheap out. You get what you pay for!
