Been coming here for over a year, always with the same stylist, Latisha. Yet she still doesn't recognize me and speed-runs my cut. When I asked her to slow down, she got annoyed--and intentionally messed up my hair in the blind spots. If that's how they treat regulars, good luck as a first-timer. At this salon, you better not ask for too much, or your stylist will turn your haircut into a hostage situation. Annoy them, and they'll sabotage your hair. You don't deserve this, avoid. read more

Unfortunately, I had an absolutely terrible experience and I would strongly advise against anyone else risking this happening to them. I had previously gotten a good haircut from this location so I had no reservations coming back, but when I asked for a mid back length, the top layer of my hair was cut 6-7 inches shorter than I asked (around the middle of my ears). Before this happened, I tried to specify the length of the layers and was told not to tell her how to do it, and that she knew what to do due to decades of experience. I had a very unpleasant/uncomfortable experience with my hairdresser after requesting alterations for my cut. I got a wash, cut, and blow-dry, and after the blow-dry I requested that the layers be trimmed a bit. My hairdresser got visibly upset, and said that I shouldn't have requested layers to begin with, and proceeded to explain what layers are, even though I was simply requesting them to be trimmed. I get that it might've been a bother to do after the blow-dry, but it's customary to ask for adjustments and get your hair the way you want it to look, right? When I apologized for the inconvenience, twice, I was met with silence both times. It was a very passive aggressive, uncomfortable next couple of minutes. It didn't help that other customers/hairdressers were looking, and that I was the only non-white person in the entire salon. I won't be coming back again. read more

Spent 4 months growing my hair back out from a previous botched haircut and came to this place hoping for different results. This place is marvelous value, I wouldn't use it for a cut other than a trim, or for serious chemical work, but it is fantastic for blow-waves; I once used it to put some fun streaks in my hair and was very pleased with the result. The cuts for men and children seem to be good. The staff are quick, helpful and if you complain at the price then - get a life, go and pay more somewhere else. read more

I live in the city and I still go to this place for a cut. Beth is the best!!! She is the most consistent. Prices are great and your 10th cut is free...whoo hoo. Wow, three years after posting my review of HairCuts, I receive a response from the operations manager that questions whether I was actually at this location, as I've recently moved to California. Not only did I receive an awful, CHEAP hair cut before graduating from Wellesley College, but the response time from the business is indicative of the value placed upon customer experience. Best part: it opens on Sundays. Easy access and parking in weekends. Okay part: I would 2/3 of staff cut hair well, for boys and male adults. Girls and adult women may have different expectations. :-) The other 1/3 won't give you a heartbreak, but can leave some regrets. It's first-come-first-serve. If you want to experience bad service coupled with a chain saw masacre, this is the place for you. I have been going to the place for the past 8 years. My last several haircuts have been going down hill. Today was the worst. My young son had several clumps of uneven hair after a very simple buzz cut. The stylist, also the manager stated that he must have slept on it the wrong way. She could try to fix it but it would not work. You could not even complain to management about the bad service. I done with that place. I suggest everyone else stay away unless you are planning to go to a halloween party and scare someone with your haircut. read more

Pretty damn good. Went in really really terrified of what would become of my hair. (Wanted my head shaven on the sides with a faux hawk and bangs) I sat down in the hair, realizing the immense risk of social awkwardness had sealed my impending doom. BUT!! The cut ended up being amazing! Seriously this place can't be written off as "great clips". Was $16 total, but I tipped an extra $10 because Hell. Sigh. All I wanted was layers and a trim. The lady did a great job trimming my hair, but she only thinned out the ends of my hair. I specifically told her to make my hair thinner overall. My hair was wet so it was hard to say how thick it was. When my hair dried, I could see that my hair was as thick as it was before the cut! I spent 20 dollars on a 10-minute hair cut. It was not worth it. I consider this a lesson learned. read more

This is such a great place! I had a very friendly and knowledgeable stylist named Jessica. I've had haircuts at places around Wellesley and Boston that charged much more than $16 + tip, but I don't think I've ever been nearly as pleased. She took her time, and I got the exact haircut I wanted. I also didn't have to make an appointment, and waited all of two minutes on a Sunday afternoon. read more

The fact that a haircut here costs $17 tells you everything - expect low quality. Unfortunately everywhere else around here is $50+. The woman cutting my hair was beyond rude. I wasn't thrilled with how the haircut came out and when I asked about trying something different she snapped at me "Well that's a different haircut!" and walked away as I stared into the mirror. When she returned I told her we were done and I left. Absolutely ridiculous. This place might be fine for children but if you want a decent haircut you should go anywhere else - higher price is worth it to not look like a schlub. read more

I go to school out in Wellesley, which can be quite expensive to get a haircut. I went here four times simply because it was the least expensive (I should have learned earlier, I know). I have simple hair. It's straight, meduim thickness hair. Nothing complex, slight angled layer at the end and blunt bangs below the eyebrow that angle slightly on the sides. I've cut my own bangs between visits and have even cut my own hair once when I knew I could get out to get it cut. The first time I went, whoever it was did a fine job. I was happy and went on my way. It only got worse in my subsequent visits though. The second time, I wanted to change the length a bit. My hair was three inches below the end of my ribs. I wanted it shorter, around mid-chest length. The woman cut the back of my hair first and before I could stop, hacked it up to slightly below chin length. Almost a foot shorter than I wanted! I was about to cry in the chair. It took almost a year for it to grow back out again. At that point though, there was severe breakage because I hadn't gotten my hair cut in almost a year. I went back thinking that if it was like the first time and only a trim to get rid of mistakes, they couldn't mess it up. Whoever did my hair didn't. She got rid of the breakage and re-layered. She made my bangs a full blunt cut without tapering, but I was able to fix that myself a week later. The fourth time though was the real mess up again though. I came in two months after the previous time, thinking as long as I don't mess with the overall length too much, it should be fine, and I was trying to do this more regularly because I didn't want damage again. I wanted a simple relayer and trim. I like my bangs .25 inch below my brows. She cut them unevenly. One side was my preferred length and the other was halfway between my forehead my brows. I asked her to fix it (I'd rather have short bangs since they can grow out than uneven). She hacked up the shorter side slightly more and the other side, while closer was still visibly not the same length. I didn't even notice until I washed my hair and went into work the next day, but the center was also longer for some reason. A straight guy, who know nothing about hair, was able to notice that my bangs looked awful. The less noticable aspects were also awful. She cut the back shorter than the front and angled it down in overall length. It wasn't noticable when I left, there was maybe 2/3 inch difference. I did over the next week though. The angles of the layers were off, but I couldn't quite tell what was wrong. Worst of all, the two segment of my hair closest to my face, perhaps one inch back, were both blunt (unlike the rest of my hair, so it didn't even fit with the style of the rest) and .75 inch longer than the rest of my hair. Because of how she blow dryed my hair, the most subtle things, I didn't even notice when I walked out. I've started going to a more expensive place, paying the extra so I can have someone competant cut my hair. When I went in four weeks later to a different place (the amount of time to grow out my hack job bangs), the hair stylist was actually cringing and swearing a bit when she started cutting my hair and fixing the mistakes. She could honestly not believe that anyone would make these kinds of mistakes. I am a person that does not like paying 20 extra for someone to do a simple cut, but in this case it was completely worth it. read more

I absolute do not like coming here. The barbers are rude and kick up a fuss if you ask them to cut your hair in the way you want it. The atmosphere is rushed and they don't bother starting a conversation. It's not worth your money coming here. You might as well enter a dark room and start cutting your hair with scissors- it will be better for you.Every time I go they always mess up my haircut and for two weeks it stays messed up until my hair grows up. ONLY get a hair cut here. WARNING... DO NOT get Keratin treatment. I did and it has been a FULL DISASTER. As a loyal customer for many years, I would always get my hair trimmed here ($15.95 for a great cut). I decided to try the Keratin treatment. After doing it, not only did I learn that I over paid ($200, where the other Wellesley salons charge closer to $150) it turned out to be a FULL disaster. Aside from not working, it has left a TERRIBLE smell in my hair that I am unable to get rid of. I bought all of the products recommended (Keratin specific, etc). I would highly advise against doing this treatment (Global Keratin The Best... to be exact) - I have been spending over a week trying to get this wretched smell (it smells like a combination of a rug with mildew that a dog has gone to the bathroom on sprayed with disgusting chemicals) out of my hair and nothing is working fast enough. Also, to top it off, Hair Cuts Ltd with their alleged "100% guarantee" will only give me a credit not a full refund - which is completely unacceptable... that translates to 19 haircuts, which will take me years to use. Incredibly disappointing. If you go here, just stick to the cuts (I have heard that the color can be great - just see Beth, however, I would 100% avoid the Keratin). PS. This experience was so disappointing to me, that I decided to set up a yelp account to write my first review ever. I hope that I save others of having to go through this experience with not only the Keratin but also Hair Cuts Ltd "solution". read more
