This review is long overdue, but Jenny truly is the best! I've been going to her since 2019 for Japanese hair straightening, and she always treats my hair with so much care and patience. I love how gentle she is, and she always makes sure my hair is perfectly done. Honestly, I have to stop myself from falling asleep whenever she's washing my hair because it's so relaxing. Jenny has a way of making me go from feeling insecure about my hair to feeling so much better about myself. Her prices are also more affordable than most places, yet the quality of her work and products is very high end. Her salon feels so homey, clean, and comfortable, and she always uses high end products. Thank you for letting me know there is a free fix policy but even if it was within the free fix period, I would't have want to come in again. ******** Came for a haircut back in May and regretted ever since. First of all she forgot about my appointment, it was completely dark inside and she was nowhere in sight, gave her a call and she said she forgot to put it down in her appointment book. I called her for the appointment on the previous day. Requested for bangs and she cut wayyyy too short. I still have to clip up my bangs to this day, I can't leave it down because it's that bad and the rest is also a mess. It's so uneven, doesn't look like it was done professionally, not worth $70. MINUS A MILLION STARS!!! PLEASE READ!!! I had scheduled an appointment with Jenny Jin, Owner of Hairday Salon, on Friday May 14th at 3:00pm. I came in with photos asking her if she was able to give me some highlights/ Ombre. She said yes she could and then we started the process. Fast forward, after taking off the foils in my hair and washing it, I looked to see that it was bright orange!  This was probably a customer's worst nightmare (girls who have blondes should know)! I was in shock and asked her why its orange?? I literally looked like a lion. She continued to tell me that it came out so pretty. I said NO.. it does not look pretty... it looks orange and undone! She then said.. yeah maybe it is a little orange, but I can tone it to take the orange out. Please note that I came in with blondes already, looking for a touch-up. She tones my hair, and then it comes out ONE SOLID COLOR. I could have done that myself from a box if I was going for that look.  She then tells me, it's perfect now and looks exactly like the photo. UMMM??? There is no blonde on my head, how does that look exactly like the photo?!? CHECK THIS OUT!!! SHE THEN YELLS AT ME FROM THE TOP OF HER LUNGS SAYING "ITS PERFECT!! NOW PAY ME AND GET OUT!! I'm a pretty classy and respectful lady okay... I keep calm and said... "why are you yelling?"  She then yells again saying that she is NOT GOD and that she is NOT A SLAVE, and that not every hair can be perfect. OK??? I then said, "why are you saying those things and yelling, you're being so rude." She then says, "I don't care!  Then charges me more for what she had quoted me! $300. At this point, I really don't want to deal with this rude ass lady who was getting in my face about my hair. I politely said, "don't worry, I'll pay you, but just know I am not happy."  As I was getting my card to pay, she starts throwing and slamming things around. She takes my card, charges it. I am going to definitely call my credit card to dispute this *ish.   Prior to the toner applied to my hair and her going crazy on me.... She told me a story. She said... "not everyone can be happy with the outcome of their hair. It is like going doctor. I go to the doctor all the time, and I am never happy with the docot, yet I always have to pay a lot of money for a visit." .................so... WTF??? WTF does that have to do with my hair lady? I came here because my friend recommended it to be and I desperately needed a haircut. I called Jenny and was able to make an appointment within 3 days of calling. I booked for a trim on Friday. Jenny operates out of her own private room in Sola Salons by El Camino. When you arrive, make sure you call her so she knows you're outside. The salon itself is really bright and clean looking, and Jenny is wearing a face mask as well as a plastic face shield. Her salon space includes her own hair washing station and storage for all her supplies. Everything was well sanitized and I personally felt very safe. I asked Jenny for a layer cut and she did an amazing job in taking her time and asking if I was OK with the length. After cutting, she washed and styled my hair and I thought the end result was really awesome! Jenny mentions she also specializes in color and permanent hair straightening. She said her hair straightening is safe to use on bleached hair, which is definitely a big bonus for me! I've been anxious about getting a haircut because it's still a pandemic, but was encouraged by the reviews here about the precautions Jenny took so I made an appointment (I texted her for an appointment). Her salon is inside Sola Salons, which keeps the doors locked. I called Jenny when I arrived and she let me in. Masks are required for everyone, and she wore a mask and face shield, and wore gloves the entire time she was doing my hair! I was surprised by the gloves, but my hair turned out awesome. She also has a dyson air purifier running. I have a lot of thick hair so it can be a little bit of a pain to work with but Jenny had no trouble cutting and styling. I washed my hair at home because I need to use my own products and I wanted to minimize the amount of time I was inside the salon. I felt very comfortable and at ease with her strict COVID precautions. I hope she is in business for a long time because I've finally found someone who I really love! read more

I got a hair cut with Jenny today and she was very professional and sweet. She was easy to talk to and really considered what I wanted and also gave me advise on what she thought would look nice on me. Jenny is very detailed and friendly. Her studio is clean and private. Jenny was disinfecting all the areas carefully before I enter the studio. For both safeties, we wore masks the whole time, and she even wore a face shield to give me more security. I like my new hairstyle. I wanted to cut my pretty long hair to the shoulder. Love this cute salon and Jenny! Thank God I took a chance and came in. I called the day of (Thursday) and got an appointment at 2 pm. Her studio is so clean and feels so private and special. It's so cool that it's inside Sola Salons where a ton of other artists have their own room and space. Jenny is so sweet and really knows what she's doing. She doesn't use those jagged scissors to layer (imo it shows laziness and lack of true cutting skills). She is a true artist and has picked up great skill from her last place. She told me that before, she was at a Japanese salon that would teach them new skills from Japan every year. She has a great eye for what looks good on you and what you want. I came in with long dry ends and she gave me movement, volume, and healthy hair back! I told her that I had just washed my hair that morning so she didn't shampoo, but she usually does. I hate having to write a negative review about a small business, but feel compelled to write because I feel the five star ratings of this business does not accurately reflect the hairdressers skill set. I went in for a standard women's haircut and came out with one of the worst haircut I've gotten in my life. My hair is all different lengths and it looks like someone cut my hair blind or I went to a really cheap shop. It looks very choppy throughout my head that my friend even noticed and made a similar remark asking where I got it cut. I ABSOLUTELY regret coming here and now I'll have to pay for another haircut for the mess and sloppy state my hair is in. Especially for charging $80 plus tip for a standard women's cut, I would've expected much much better. The skillset she displayed for my hair definitely does not reflect that price point. This was a standard haircut that had no special requests. I would not recommend coming here unless you want to risk getting a really terrible haircut then having to pay another $80 to someone else to fix. read more

Jenny is really a master when it comes to layers, whereas many others are either unable to achieve the same precision or unwilling to put so much effort in a hair cut. Also I think her expertise is Japanese hairstyle, which is subtly different from Korean/Chinese styles, so even though you will definitely look very good and have your hairstyle designed and tailored for you, it might be a bit unrealistic if you walk in asking for the "Red Velvet Wendy" style. I love my haircut with Jenny! I have dry coarse hair that's pretty hard to work with but Jenny really did it all and cut my hair exactly how I wanted it! I showed her a video of what I wanted (curtain bangs with long layers) and she was so precise, asking me to show her again so she would make sure she had it correctly. I had to read through so many reviews from big name salons but were unimpressed with their work. Although Jenny doesn't have as many reviews, I didn't hesitate- my dentist is the best and he doesn't have many reviews. Don't let reviews fool you! Her work shows for itself. Jenny's salon is located in Sola Salon in a busy plaza. I texted her for an appointment and she was able to book me for the same day. Her salon is clean and cozy! There's only one chair which means she'll give each client her undivided attention. I explained to her what I wanted and she gave me exactly that. Lots of layers and some wispy bangs. She was meticulous and very attentive to each strand. At one point I got nervous because so much hair was being snipped but it was just her layering style. My hair was still long but the layers made it light. This helped add volume as heavy hair tends to make my roots flat. When she shampooed my hair, I remember thinking that she must be very experienced as no drop of water got in my ears- my makeup was perfectly intact as well lol. And as a plus, Jenny has a warm personality as well, which makes her comfortable to be around! When I went to pay, I realized I forgot my wallet. Jenny performed the Japanese Hair Straightening treatment on my originally curly and frizzy hair and it is now SO smooth, straight, and even healthier than before- straight out of the shower. She seemed really knowledgeable and experienced on what she was doing. On top of that, she was so nice and generous-- she even made me tea and offered me a snack while we waited for the treatment to penetrate.
