I received a nice haircut at a reasonable price. I made an appointment online and was able to see the hairdresser I preferred.

I do not understand the haters giving one star reviews. I suspect these people either are from somewhere else or mistook this hair salon for some other hair salon. The bad - this is in the sketchy part of Monroe (East Monroe) near Coastal (the one saving grace of the strip mall). It's off in a corner, but there's tons of parking. I booked an appointment, showed up early, and there was beaucoup parking despite all of the Dollar Store traffic (remember the sketchy part). Got in, the previous client was just finishing up. Surprising how large the place is (I think they have ten chairs). It goes back 100 feet from the entrance, much larger than you'd think. Alison asked me to wait a minute while she swept up the previous client's DNA, then she called me back. I showed her a picture of what I had in mind, and she set right to work. Yes, I was in and out in about twenty minutes, which was quick, but the quality of the haircut did not suffer. It just reflects that this stylist has been at it long enough that she knows her way around a head of hair. Yes, I paid a small fortune for the privilege, but if you can get out of a stylist with a good looking hair cut for under $40, make sure to post the details here for the rest of us who are cheap. No arguments this was a great haircut for a decent price. Again, surprised by the one stars, maybe that person's gone or maybe these reviewers are from California, no idea. Not impressed. Rush job of shampoo and cut -- NIOT the cut I specifically requested. Brusque, rough and aggressive handling of me, my hair and the cut. Not appreciated, as wet hair is extremely fragile. Skip it. 40 bucks for 15 minutes of rushed cutting job. INCLUDES NO BLOWOUT. Won't return. Don't recommend. read more

I just walked in and asked if they had time for a haircut. The lady (older of the two working) said, "I got one in the chair, one waiting, one coming back". So, I asked again: Do you have time for any walk-ins even later today? She snapped back at me, "NO! THATS WHAT I SAID!" As I walked away she said, "See you next time". No, she won't. After booking at another salon in Monroe and being yelled at on the phone for asking a simple question, I came across this Hairmasters. I spoke with Lisa on the phone and she was attentive to what I was asking for, and even seemed eager and excited to have us come in. My daughter had her appointment today with Jaime and she did an amazing job! My daughter, who is 5, is over the moon in love with her cut and the cute braids Jaime did for her. I have had my hair done there recently and many times before. Staff very friendly and cooperative even there could be an issue with style , cut, perm or color. They do there best to make it right. Because sometimes skin can be sensative or hair does not take as well. I am sure none of these thing are done on purpose. I will return because they are a good group of girls read more

She was very attentive to my crazy description of what I wanted, and my hair came out fabulous!! My daughter also received amazing purple tips while I had a full foil and cut. I've lived in Monroe since 2007 - and frequent the hair Masters salon next to Hagen Market. Today, my experience started off less-than-wonderful ...w/ Marcie - the store had just opened & there were 3 stylists on duty. I walked in, was greeted and informed that there would be a 15 minute wait---which was fine. Moments later, a man walked in, greeted Marcie like a long-time friend, and she returned his lively greeting. Despite not having an appointment, (which was voiced in their conversation back & forth) Marcie told this man "I've got time for you- I'll fit you in without an appointment...and then seated this customer first. Her "wonderful customer service and friendly demeanor" are obviously for friends and/or familiar faces, as she does not serve clients in the order that they arrive, nor is she warm and welcoming to every person that enters the salon. However, it all turned out 5-Star...as a delightful stylist named Jennifer styled my hair this time. I left a 33% tip on for the wonderful cut & style, styling products, excellent customer service and professionalism! ---So glad things turned out as they did....Karma, sweet, sweet Karma!
