A few friends and I came here on a Saturday afternoon around 5pm after doing a couple of activities in the area and realizing we were starving! And as always, with the promise of great portions and tasty food , Hakka was the obvious choice. We went here as it was the closest to us and we're really pleased with the decision. There were only two tables filled in the restaurant which worried us a little on terms of the food quality but competing with thousands of other food venues in the area makes up for it. The service was really friendly and all the staff were more than happy to help. We ordered the veg hakka chow mein, crispy beef, sweet and sour chicken and fried rice with all the additions as well as some spring rolls. Everything was full of flavour, really tasty and left us content. The only thing that lacked in flavour was the spring rolls, they tasted a little over fried and were very oily. I'm pretty sure they just re heat food in the microwave, and then serve it. The floors are greasy. Menu says they have c.plus, but they bring you crush. It's the same feeling you get if you order a coke, but they bring you Pepsi. Unfriendly wait staff. No smile. No help. dumps the plates and cutlery and walks away. So, I do the work? and they tried to add automatic 15% tip, even just 2 people eating. I said no way. remove it. They did, and I tipped maybe 9%. This place is a solid 3.5 stars. After taking in a movie at the Cineplex across the street, I did a search and found Hakka Legend Asian Cuisine. I drove over here at around 8:40 pm. It was a rainy night and folks cannot park for beans in this parking lot. I made myself a parking spot and walked over. There is a Vietnamese restaurant next to Hakka Legend. Part of me wanted to go inside, but I stuck to my original plan and went Hakka. I was immediately greeted when I walked in. I got a booth with a menu. I liked the service. Staff were highly attentive with water. I got a glass of water automatically. They made the water refilling rounds often. It was impressive. As with any new Hakka place that I visit, I order the chilli chicken with gravy. It's my benchmark dish. Steamed rice is extra here. It was the first time that I have paid for rice with a main dish. I felt like I was having Thai food. Interesting! My food came almost as quickly as the water refills. Again, I was impressed. At this stage, I had worked up an appetite that I went in to eat. The chicken was tender. The gravy was good. It could have used more spicy, though. It had more ginger than I typically like, but it wasn't overly powerful. I was there eating until nearly 9:30 pm. The place closes at 10 pm on a Thursday evening. I saw three staff members sweeping, cleaning, and pretty much closing up as I was eating. It was interesting. Anyway, I paid with a credit card and all was well. I said goodnight and headed home. It's a good place for good Hakka food after a movie. I'd come back and try other dishes. I didn't realize that they AUTOMATICALLY hit you with a "service charge" this would be considered a "Tip". I didn't notice this until leaving the resto. Service Charge seems to be a percentage of your total. Ours was over $5 service charge, then I added a $3.00 tip when paying by Debit. So almost $9.00 gratuity. It would have been courteous of the staff to inform customers of this. Instead of over tipping (service charge + tip) without even realizing. Service : 3/5 At the time of our visit, the place had almost all seats filled. Vaxx passport required, which is fine with us. We didn't make extra requests of our server. Food : 4/5 We ordered : Shrimp Singapore Noodles, Chicken in Yellow Curry and Shrimp Fried rice. Both the Chicken Curry and Shrimp Fried Rice were to our liking. The chicken pieces in the curry were tender and not overly chewy. Wifey and I cleared those plates during the meal. However the Shrimp Singapore noodles turned out to be a disappointment. I'd give the Shrimp Singapore noodles 1/5 rating. It was severely lacking in Curry powder. There was no hint that it was even Singapore Noodles. Drinks : We just requested our beverage of choice to be good ol' H20 with some ice, which arrived with 2 glasses and a pitcher. Had the General Tso chicken (which came with Manchurian soup) and Manchurian beef (which came with an eggroll) lunch specials. The General Tso was tasty and sweet, the Manchurian beef was tenderized like they do in Chinese restaurants so I wasn't too wild about the mouthfeel of it, but it was flavorful with tons of garlic and ginger. Both came with generous amounts of rice. They added way too much thickener to the Manchurian soup. The eggroll was crispy and tasty but was oily and they skimped on the fillings. I walked in 15 mins before closing for a takeaway order. Chicken pakoras and an order of vegetable hakka noodles. If you think you've had the BEST chicken pakoras, reserve judgement until you try theirs. Flavourful, large in size, fresh for a restaurant closing for the day! They were well worth it! Been here 2x now for lunch, and their lunch specials are such a good deal. $7.25! And it includes soup. We tried the ginger chicken, good flavour, but very saucy. Get that with the white rice. Black Bean with beef was good, just as expected. Chili chicken dry, also good. A tad too much onion. Sesame chicken was a tad too sweet for our liking. And their service is good too. The chicken dishes were average but the Hakka Noodles are the best I've ever had. The Bombay Paneer is also a must try! For Lunch Specials, I've tried the Mixed Vegetables with Chicken (#A19 ) which was just average, it has very little sauce and the chicken used in the dish were really low cuts But the Hot & Sour Soup that comes with the Lunch Specials is actually pretty good. We found this place just by yelping the neighborhood. Therefore, thanks to Yelp we got to try this place as we were in the area. Upon arriving, the place looked kind of run down but it was a full house. Got here around 9:10pm and still people were eating and ordering. Since I didn't know what to order, I just went according to suggestions that other Yelpers had suggested. Which was the following... - Pakora fried chicken (YUMMY! But takes 15min) - Mango salad (asked for mild) - Hakka house special fried noodles - Ginger Ale When everything arrived, it all tasted delicious. Except they forgot our Ginger Ale drink. Went for a dine in here. The place is located on the intersection between Eglington and Warden Av. The construction on Eglington adds a bit of traffic during peak hours. There is a sizable parking lot next to the shop and you won't find trouble finding a spot for you car. The restaurant looks neat and modern with bright interiors and comfortable booths. Since it was Covid, the restaurant followed limited dine in and all safety protocols. The restaurant is huge, so we felt pretty comfortable even indoors. The menu was a neat QR code scan to avoid physical contact with traditional menus. The menu had a ton of different Chinese items from noodles to fried rice and stir fries. It also included some Thai dishes. Vegetarians would have no trouble finding a dish here. We ordered some noodles and fried rice. The portions are huge so if you don't plan on having left over food, order one portion which will be enough to share between two people. Definite recommend! read more

I'm glad we made a reservation because this place was busy!! I found the food to be decent, nothing that really sets it apart. I can see that it's a much desired restaurant -- halal, hakka, all wanted components in this area. They did forget our rice dish, so we literally got our soup, soon followed by all the side dishes (meats and veggies) and then no rice. Also they forgot about our drinks until we reminded them. It made for awkward dining until we realized we were never getting our rice! Once realized and acknowledged, our rice came out fast. I can see why such a mistake would happen, as there were several large groups that evening. Easy to overwhelm the staff. The food was hot, and yummy -- your usual hakka food. Definitely large quantities, which is nice since there was 5 of us! I'll probably be back as my parents do not have a lot of halal options that they like and this was one they enjoyed a lot. I would recommend the chili chicken, sesame chicken, chicken pakoras, hot and sour soup and Manchurian chicken/beef. My friends and I go to hakka legend at least once a month since it's one of the more affordable options in the area. They offer a lunch special where you can get one meat item, fried rice or noodles, and spring roll or a drink for about $10. My go-to meat items are either the szechuan chicken or the manchurian chicken. The portions here are very generous so you will never leave hungry. Most of the time the food is good but there have been a few instances when the meat has tasted a bit off... like leftovers from the night before. Also I've noticed that they change the recipe for their chicken dishes pretty often because each time we order it's a different colour. I'm not the biggest fan of hakka food in general, but this place will definitely fill you up read more

I love Hakka food, I tried many Hakka places in town so I know what the flavours should be like. The dish that sets the bar for me is the Manchurian chicken, if the place knows how to make that dish right, they most likely have good chef-at this location that's definitely the case. Besides one other place downtown, this is the best Manchurian chicken I've ever had, I also tried their "house special noodles" which was also great. Service was really good, the only thing I did like was the fact they are charging $2 for tea where other places give it for free. I will definitely go there again. read more

Went there with my family a week after it opened, we had an order of beef with eggplant, an order of chicken fried rice, pakora chicken and a large order of chicken corn soup that we all shared. Food was okay, I really enjoyed the pakora chicken it was really good the issue was that we found a hair in both our chicken corn and beef with eggplant.. Disgusting. We felt bad telling them but we eventually did before leaving, the guy which seemed to be the owner apologized and offered us a free soup the next time we come. Checked out Hakka Legend for the first time, and I would call it a solid lunch joint. The chicken pakora were good, but not as good as Federick of course, but yummy, and the lunch special sweet and sour shrimp were okay, and filling. Myself and 3 friends (all very hungry) decided to come here for the first time. We had a really great experience! The staff were all really nice and very attentive. We ordered the crispy ginger beef, Mongolian chicken, Hakka noodles, sizzling paneer, and chicken pakoras. While the Mongolian chicken was pretty bland, everything else was really delicious. The sizzling paneer was mind-blowingly good and should not be missed! The pakoras were very sizeable, and the chicken was juicy and flavourful. The ginger beef was sweet and stayed crunchy, even at the very end of the meal. The noodles were packed full of tasty goodies, and had a great smoky flavour. We left feeling totally satisfied without our wallets taking too big of a hit. We will definitely be back, and often! read more

I'm quite happy that Hakka Legend was referred to me. I only go to Hakka Legend during lunch hours when I'm at work, so I'm not sure how this place is in the dinner time. What keeps me coming back is the super cheap prices they have on the lunch specials. And it's anything you could wish for! Ranging from chow mein, to sweet and sour meats to fried rice. You get all that carby goodness! I've really liked the honey garlic chicken so far. Though I do suggest asking for a little less sauce since they tend to over do it, and the sauce can get pretty sweet at times. I've also gotten the sweet and sour chicken, and the curry chicken. Here's what I noticed about Hakka Legend. Anything you order, it will come deep fried. It was quite a surprise that the chicken pieces in the curry were battered and deep fried. It was a bit weird at first, and I wouldn't choose conventional curry over it, but it was interesting. What I like is with any amount of sauce you can put on their deep fried meats, it never gets soggy. There's always that great flavourful crunch. The number one reason I like about this place, is just how utterly fast the food comes. And having to drive roughly 7 minutes to get here, and 7 minutes back is great for me. Fast service, fast food. Don't ever take it from them they give you burnt food. Worst customer service too. The manager started yelling at the back when we said the food was burnt. They refused to refund our money if we don't bring back the food the same day. Horrendous service. What a waste of money. They should close their restaurant. I always come here, all the employees know me and make my order without me having to tell them, because that's really how often I come here. I ordered hot and sour soup and it tasted like dishwater, I'm not the type to complain but it was not edible what so ever, so after a while I let them know it's not good and I get yelled at for making them "lose money" over a small one person bowl of soup... meanwhile I got 5 different entrees AND another soup. EVERY time I said "okay" to end the problem, he (the server) wouldn't let me eat, because he was just standing over my table telling me "you should complain right away or keep your mouth shut" needless to say I will NEVER come here again and suggest you don't as well.
