This place is a solid 3.5 stars. After taking in a movie at the Cineplex across the street, I did a search and found Hakka Legend Asian Cuisine. I drove over here at around 8:40 pm. It was a rainy night and folks cannot park for beans in this parking lot. I made myself a parking spot and walked over. There is a Vietnamese restaurant next to Hakka Legend. Part of me wanted to go inside, but I stuck to my original plan and went Hakka. I was immediately greeted when I walked in. I got a booth with a menu. I liked the service. Staff were highly attentive with water. I got a glass of water automatically. They made the water refilling rounds often. It was impressive. As with any new Hakka place that I visit, I order the chilli chicken with gravy. It's my benchmark dish. Steamed rice is extra here. It was the first time that I have paid for rice with a main dish. I felt like I was having Thai food. Interesting! My food came almost as quickly as the water refills. Again, I was impressed. At this stage, I had worked up an appetite that I went in to eat. The chicken was tender. The gravy was good. It could have used more spicy, though. It had more ginger than I typically like, but it wasn't overly powerful. I was there eating until nearly 9:30 pm. The place closes at 10 pm on a Thursday evening. I saw three staff members sweeping, cleaning, and pretty much closing up as I was eating. It was interesting. Anyway, I paid with a credit card and all was well. I said goodnight and headed home. It's a good place for good Hakka food after a movie. I'd come back and try other dishes. I'd recommend coming here for lunch. The lunch specials look good and you don't pay extra for steamed rice. (441)

Date visited : Thursday December 16, 2021 Overall Rating for experience : 3/5 Comments : Second time visiting this resto. Group of 2 ppl. Be careful when it is time to settle your bill. I didn't realize that they AUTOMATICALLY hit you with a "service charge" this would be considered a "Tip". I didn't notice this until leaving the resto. Service Charge seems to be a percentage of your total. Ours was over $5 service charge, then I added a $3.00 tip when paying by Debit. So almost $9.00 gratuity. It would have been courteous of the staff to inform customers of this. Instead of over tipping (service charge + tip) without even realizing. Service : 3/5 At the time of our visit, the place had almost all seats filled. Vaxx passport required, which is fine with us. We didn't make extra requests of our server. Food : 4/5 We ordered : Shrimp Singapore Noodles, Chicken in Yellow Curry and Shrimp Fried rice. Both the Chicken Curry and Shrimp Fried Rice were to our liking. The chicken pieces in the curry were tender and not overly chewy. Wifey and I cleared those plates during the meal. However the Shrimp Singapore noodles turned out to be a disappointment. I'd give the Shrimp Singapore noodles 1/5 rating. It was severely lacking in Curry powder. There was no hint that it was even Singapore Noodles. Drinks : We just requested our beverage of choice to be good ol' H20 with some ice, which arrived with 2 glasses and a pitcher. Portion Size Value for Money Spent : 3.5/5 Portion sizing is a bit deceiving to the eyes with the dishes that they use. Meal was almost a challenge to finish. Worth repeat visit : Yes, there are other dishes that we are interested in trying. Yes we shall likely be returning again. Looking forward to trying other dishes.

My family always goes to this spot for their lunch special. The service is quick and the food is great for classic Hakka dishes like chili chicken. They offer a variety of comfortable seating like booths and seats.

Manchurian veggie ball. Manchurian chicken. Manchurian fried rice.

Didn't have heat. Ordered Manchurian veggie balls, Manchurian chicken, and Manchurian veggie rice. They brought out the Manchurian veggie balls and Manchurian chicken within 5 minutes then we had to wait another 10 mins before the rice dish. We literally watched our dishes get cold. At best, average. Nothing worth mentioning. Asked for the bill. They tipped themselves? He gave me the machine and the machine asked for another tip. Really? I wouldn't recommend the food. I definitely wouldn't recommend the service.

For those unfamiliar, the name "Hakka" actually refers to an ethnic group within China spread all around the world but in Toronto, the term has been used almost exclusively (and somewhat erroneously) in reference to Chinese people who settled in India." - blogTO Had to put that in lest other newbies like myself commit any faux pas and offend any Hakka people out there. Now on to my review.... Clean roomy restaurant. Not the warmest of receptions but that's reflected in the price. You can't have cheap food and stellar customer service too, that's rare indeed. Came for the lunch special and was happy to find out that you can order it to go, not all places allow that. Had the General Tso chicken (which came with Manchurian soup) and Manchurian beef (which came with an eggroll) lunch specials. The General Tso was tasty and sweet, the Manchurian beef was tenderized like they do in Chinese restaurants so I wasn't too wild about the mouthfeel of it, but it was flavorful with tons of garlic and ginger. Both came with generous amounts of rice. They added way too much thickener to the Manchurian soup. The eggroll was crispy and tasty but was oily and they skimped on the fillings. Would definitely come back for their affordable lunch specials. Higher rating pending I find more dishes that I like.

The chicken pakora was the bomb! And their noodles are also cooked and seasoned perfectly. Their ginger beef is also really good! The 2nd time we came we ordered the Bombay chicken and a veggie tofu dish... probably wouldn't order them again. Tofu was a bit bland and the chicken dish was ok. I would probably stick to the more fried foods and fried noodles/rice Service was great and overall enjoyed this ppace

Chicken pakoras, get them, enjoy them, you're welcome!

I walked in 15 mins before closing for a takeaway order. Chicken pakoras and an order of vegetable hakka noodles. If you think you've had the BEST chicken pakoras, reserve judgement until you try theirs. Flavourful, large in size, fresh for a restaurant closing for the day! They were well worth it! The vegetable hakka noodles were also quite good. Quality of the food here is excellent and no complaints. *Little disclaimer for you that their meat dishes don't come with a small portion of steamed rice, which you will find at other places which is somewhat disappointing to see here.

    Inside shot. Nice and clean.

Been here 2x now for lunch, and their lunch specials are such a good deal. $7.25! And it includes soup. We tried the ginger chicken, good flavour, but very saucy. Get that with the white rice. Black Bean with beef was good, just as expected. Chili chicken dry, also good. A tad too much onion. Sesame chicken was a tad too sweet for our liking. And their service is good too. Can't go wrong here.

Mixed Vegetables with Chicken Lunch Special: Not amazing, lacked sauce and the cuts of chicken were not the greatest
    Shefali B.

The chicken dishes were average but the Hakka Noodles are the best I've ever had. The Bombay Paneer is also a must try! For Lunch Specials, I've tried the Mixed Vegetables with Chicken (#A19 ) which was just average, it has very little sauce and the chicken used in the dish were really low cuts But the Hot & Sour Soup that comes with the Lunch Specials is actually pretty good. From looking at their menu, they seem to have a good variety of vegetarian options, especially for lunch specials.

We found this place just by yelping the neighborhood. Therefore, thanks to Yelp we got to try this place as we were in the area. Upon arriving, the place looked kind of run down but it was a full house. Got here around 9:10pm and still people were eating and ordering. Since I didn't know what to order, I just went according to suggestions that other Yelpers had suggested. Which was the following... - Pakora fried chicken (YUMMY! But takes 15min) - Mango salad (asked for mild) - Hakka house special fried noodles - Ginger Ale When everything arrived, it all tasted delicious. Except they forgot our Ginger Ale drink. Too bad we didn't order more but there was only 2 of us so we really couldn't order much otherwise it would have been too much to finish. Overall I would come back and try it again to see what else is on the menu.

Went for a dine in here. The place is located on the intersection between Eglington and Warden Av. The construction on Eglington adds a bit of traffic during peak hours. There is a sizable parking lot next to the shop and you won't find trouble finding a spot for you car. The restaurant looks neat and modern with bright interiors and comfortable booths. Since it was Covid, the restaurant followed limited dine in and all safety protocols. The restaurant is huge, so we felt pretty comfortable even indoors. The menu was a neat QR code scan to avoid physical contact with traditional menus. The menu had a ton of different Chinese items from noodles to fried rice and stir fries. It also included some Thai dishes. Vegetarians would have no trouble finding a dish here. We ordered some noodles and fried rice. The portions are huge so if you don't plan on having left over food, order one portion which will be enough to share between two people. Definite recommend!

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026

From the moment we walked in, the space already set the tone.. dark, dramatic, elegant, and beautifully designed without feeling overly stiff. It has that upscale energy that makes dinner feel like an occasion before you've even ordered anything. Food-wise, there was a lot to love. The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining. Some dishes leaned rich and luxurious, others were lighter and more aromatic, so the meal never felt repetitive. Service was another standout. Attentive without hovering, smooth without being too formal.. exactly the kind of service you hope for in a restaurant like this. Overall, Mott 32 is absolutely the kind of place I'd come back to for a special dinner, celebration, or just one of those nights when you want the meal to feel a little more elevated than usual.

Also, when we call to check if dim sum is being served, it makes sense to inform us of the dining room closure instead of having us come in anyway. We settled for eating in the lounge which ended up being good because bartender, Aiki?, was excellent as our server. Really great. Ordered the following: King prawn Har gow: standard. Not worth the premium Mott charges. Miso black cod dumpling: not good. Wouldn't order again Shredded Peking Duck Spring Roll, Sliced Vegetable : Excellent. We loved this! Nice and crunchy. Delicious duck inside. Good vinegar dipping sauce. Good volume Hot & Sour Iberico Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumplings: Fantastic and unique. The dumplings don't really need dipping sauce since inside there is a hot and sour soup along with pork. These are unique and delicious. Fried Wagyu beef taro croquette : pretty good but really tasted like a Jamaican patty Cold noodle with shredded duck : very generous with meat. Honestly a lot more than any other restaurant that serves this. To be fair no one charges this much either so it should. Flavour could be stronger but certainly decent. Fresh Mango, Coconut, Glutinous Rice Roll: nice fresh dessert. Our favourite. Frozen xiao long bao with chocolate and nut: Tastes like a mochi. Not bad. Dragonball Zen - fun name. Delicious drink. Jasmine Dragon Ball Infused Tanqueray Gin / Peach Liquor Lime / Rose Water / Mint / Seltzer Over $200 for this meal before tip. It's premium an debatable if with it. Will be back but just occasionally.
