Brit is phenomenal, she embodies the aloha spirit as she speaks about the meaning and the tradition of making lei. You can see how much she loves sharing a price of her heritage with each person in her class. It was so loving and moving that it brought tears to my eyes. The art of making lei truly gives one time to do some soul searching. It was very awesome to see each persons personality emote through their lei. I am very blessed that I was able to take part in such a beautiful class. I highly recommend Brit and will most definitely be back when we visit again. Mahalo, Brittney and thank you for sharing such beautiful art with myself and anyone else that takes your class.

Absolutely worth the visit for a lei making workshop. The owner is so knowledgeable and welcoming! The entire experience flies by as you craft your own lei crown and receive guidance along the way.

Literally cannot sing the praises of Brit enough! This woman is incredible! I've been wanting to go to one of her classes for months. I finally had a friend in town that was up to go with me. From the moment we got there, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Brit got everyone seated and then proceeded to tell us about the history of making leis, the importance of paying attention to your intentions as you make them and sharing her family history. This woman radiates joy! You can tell she truly loves what she does and helping to teach others. The beginning of my lei wasn't nearly tight enough, she showed me how to fix it and was walking around answering questions, sharing her knowledge the entire time. When you're done, she shows you how to tie the end and takes you to the mirror to put it on. She then offers to take pictures of you and your party. I cannot wait to go back again!! Worth every penny AND you're supporting local which is win-win!

Shoutout to Haku Maui, Makawao. Britney makes one of the best Haku Lei Po'o in Makawao.

Another shout out to Britney and her mom Sheryl @ Haku Maui - another gorgeous Lei for my niece & nephew's wedding in Vegas! The price and quality is.... soooo... worth it. Mahalo Britney!

Haku Maui is a wonderful discovery in Makawao town. Behind the row of businesses on Baldwin Avenue, Haku Maui is at the end of a whimsical pathway of tropical flora that looks straight out of a Hawaiian fairytale. I love unexpected finds like this that are magical and memorable. I was greeted by co-owner Sheryl. Her daughter Britney is the talented designer and maker of the Haku leis that are sold at their store. Britney was busy making leis in the back, but Sheryl was so kind to entertain my fantasy of always looking like a Hawaiian princess by allowing me to wear one of Britney's creations. Sheryl also showed me around their small store, which also hold workshops on how to make leis and other traditional Hawaiian hairpieces. Sheryl is a total sweetheart and made me feel at home in her store. She even gave me a hug before I left. This is Hawaiian hospitality at its best! Haku Maui is definitely worth the stop when in Makawao to take a look at their products. Leis can be picked up at their shop and silk leis can be shipped. I'll be sure to visit again whenever I visit Maui.

I think when people think of Hawaii, many envision stepping off the plane in paradise, greeted by smiling faces offering fragrant floral lei to visitors. While the romanticized version of arrival in the islands may be limited to film and television, lei are still important parts of the culture. While there are kukui nut and fake floral lei available to purchase in just about every ABC Store and many of the other shops scattered throughout the island, to get the real deal, fragrant, floral lei made by a skilled craftsperson, you have to venture out to find shops that carry these, often in a refrigerator near a counter somewhere. We discovered Haku Maui in an article in a magazine Hotel Wailea leaves in the rooms for guests to peruse. The article explained some of the meaning and culture surrounding the Hawaiian lei and showed pictures of this cute little shop off the downtown streets of upcountry Maui. We decided to add a stop here to our trip exploring the island during our honeymoon. I'm so happy we found that one article in that one magazine that this one hotel supplies to its guests because this is a must-visit shop in our opinion. The entrance sign to the sidewalk leading to the small shop behind the Maui Cookie Lady (another must-see shop) could be easily missed if you didn't know what you were looking for. The walkway is a beautiful little sidewalk with tropical plants lining the short stroll behind the building where you're greeted with smiling faces and a warm welcome. Britney really helps this store stand out even more than the products within. She is wealth of cultural knowledge and stories if you have an interest in learning about the Hawaiian customs, proverbs, and history. We probably could have spent hours there listening to her passionately tell us stories and explain the beliefs in the three piko (centers of the body), po'o, na'au and lei (again, forgive me if I butcher any of the spellings, I was trying to write anything I could as fast as Britney was sharing it with us). All lei available in the refrigerator are custom made on site by the proprietors. Each lei is handcrafted with love and there's a wonderful story behind each choice in flower. The shops is also filled with other custom Hawaiian made gifts, like greeting cards, clothing, planners and more. You also have the option to have lei custom made to order. We happened to arrive not long before they were closing for the day on Saturday of our stay, but thankfully we were on the island for several more days and were able to place an order. We were asked what flowers we would like in our lei and, seeing as the choice of flower is as important as the presentation of the lei, we asked her to surprise us. The shop is closed two days of the week, Sunday/Monday (at least at the time of our visit). When we arrived to pick up our order on Wednesday, we were again greeted warmly and welcomed into the shop by Britney's mother. Our lei were ready and waiting for us, along with a handwritten note explaining the choice in flowers. For the lei po'o (pictured in the long plastic box and around my wife's head), a variety of ti leaf, fern, lokelani, koa, aalii and pohinahina were used (strength and resilience). For the ti maile (pictured in the bag), ti leaf (or lā'ī) was used in the maile style (protection). Accompanied by the ti maile at the time of the order was the story of how these used to be made together by feuding Ali'i, where they would trek off together into the mountains to gather the materials needed for the lei, and come back with a formed lei signifying the end of the fighting. As it was our honeymoon, getting to hear how this kind of practice could be reshaped into use in modern weddings to symbolize the union of two families instead of peace between two warring tribes was an extra personal touch that you just can't get with the cheap mass produced lei in grocery stores around Maui. If you're on Maui, please, make Haku Maui and upcountry Makawao an early stop on your visit and go in with a smile and an open mind. The people on the island come from a long line of great storytellers, and Britney definitely keeps the spirit of that alive in her shop.

Take a short venture off the Makawao Avenue path and you'll see a little gated area with a beautiful hand written sign inviting you to go down the path. You'll love the beautiful entry way, lined with bamboo, the fresh breeze hits our face and follow the scent to a cute studio at the end of the path. You'll see hand made macrame, beautiful blooms and greeted with aloha and a beautiful smile more than likely from the owner, Brittney. You'll be able experience how to make a lei. Whether strung or haku style. And let's not forget about classes that she offers. She also has already made lies if you want. And we're not talking about plain janes you can get at a grocery store. Haku Maui also local products (bags, macrame, etc.) and also plants. Follow them on social media and you'll be kept up to date on what's going on. From classes, events, products, etc. Please give these ladies a visit and enjoy what they have to offer.

If you want to feel true aloha visit Haku Maui! Amazing bouquet and haku lei. Thay also have amazing workshops where you can learn to make your own haku lei and it is a experience you will never forget. The shop in located in the heart of Makawao town off a courtyard bamboo path. The shop is cozy and filled with island style decor. The bridal lei & flowers are so beautiful. You don't need to be getting married to wear the haku lei but you will feel like a princess!

Brit was AMAZING! She embodied so much aloha and I will definitely be going to her and her business for all my needs when it comes to any occasion! I needed a last minute haku and some leis and she had it done within a few hours on such last notice! Support your local artist! Mahalo sis! I'll be back :)

I am so happy I found Haku Maui. I was flying out to Maui to elope and I really wanted a haku lei for myself and my daughter. I contacted them and the owners were so friendly and I explained exactly what I wanted and that is exactly what I got. When I arrived to pick up my leis I was so happy with how they came out. They were beautiful! Thank you so much!!!

Start of my lei in the beautiful workspace

This is long overdue from my visit in April 2022. Britney and Sheryl were so knowledgeable and helpful. The setting was beautiful and I learned so much about traditional lei making and meanings. I've been lucky to visit Maui a number of times and this made it so special. I would absolutely go back again. Mahalo nui!

I'll start out with a simple THANK YOU to Brittany and her mom. What a incredible duo! It's shockingly amazing how 2 people, with such a kind and spirited approach to life, can elevate an experience, and they did JUST THAT! I visited Maui in September for a very special trip. My wife and I had been to Maui 10 years ago and had never stopped wanting to come back. My wife's parents 40th anniversary, coupled with our 15th, was the perfect reason to return, and along with my wife's sister and husband this was a dream trip. I called Haku Maui ahead of our trip and from the moment they picked up the phone, they were bursting with positive energy. They were fully booked to craft their intricate head leis in time for my trip, but in such a short time, built such a nice bond. Brittany, almost a surprise in it's own, and compelled by her own love for Hawaii and her craft, agreed to help! Because they were already booked, out of sincere kindness, Brittany and her mom worked late into the night to construct 3 Specialty Floral Haku Leis that in my wildest dreams couldn't have been more beautiful. Adorned with small and LARGE orchids, and all 3 featuring different color pallets, they elevated the girls experience on this trip in a way words cannot express. It was also pretty amazing how the leis perfectly complimented the same color pallet for each of the 3 girls while attending a Luau the next evening. The Haku Lei's were so stunning that the girls were constantly complimented on them and drew so much more noticeable attention. If I could give this brilliant shop more than 5 stars I would. I HIGHLY recommend Brittany and her team to anyone looking for something special that is not only beautiful, but true to the spirit and energy of Hawaii. Mahalo Brittany! I hope to be back and commission your skills again.

I knew I wanted white flowers with greenery--clean & romantic--and Country Bouquets absolutely nailed my vision. The arrangements were much bigger than I was thinking they would be and they were STUNNING. My bouquet was huge and smelled amazing and the bridesmaids' bouquets were pretty big too. Let me tell you a little bit about the crazy week that was my wedding... During our week in Maui we were faced with Hurricane Lane, followed by a fire, followed by a power outage. Dinners and events we had planned for months were canceled as were several of our guests' flights taking us from a 40 person wedding down to 25. Everything I planned was crumbling before my eyes. On our wedding day though, I arrived at our incredible outdoor wedding venue Olowalu Plantation House and saw all of our breathtaking flowers and bouquets and could not have been happier! Our centerpieces were much larger and more elaborate than I imagined they would be and my bouquet... oh my gosh! It literally took my breath away! I think they felt bad because of all of the disappointments I had already had that week and as such our florist even decided to make a rose petal walkway for me that we had not paid for. I had such a hard time parting with my beautiful bouquet when it was time to fly back to California. I will remember those flowers forever. Thank you so much Country Bouquets Maui for making my day beautiful!
