Valerie is just incredible!!! From her first response to my email inquiry, I could tell that she really loves what she does. I was searching for a florist that specializes in tropical arrangements and lei, and her work is absolutely stunning. I knew she would really capture the aloha spirit I was trying to bring to the mainland. To me, my florist was always going to be one of my most important vendors. So much of my wedding day vision revolved around the florals. Valerie absolutely EXCEEDED all my expectations! I felt like I was so particular about how I wanted things to look. I sent her so many pictures, diagrams, and feedback to her ideas. She literally took everything I envisioned in my brain and brought it to life. When I tell you I SQUEALED in delight when I first saw my bouquet and the ceremony setup. I was absolutely floored. It was everything I ever dreamed of, and Valerie brought it to life!! She truly poured her heart into my florals and I could tell everything was made with so much love and care. My guests were just as blown away, because they couldn't stop talking about how gorgeous all of my florals were. It really felt like she brought Hawaii to San Diego. All of the centerpieces and bud vases were taken at the end of the night by guests because they loved them so much. When I look at photos of our wedding, the florals are so strikingly pretty and I love remembering how amazing they were on the big day. Valerie had also made beautiful lei for me, our officiant, and our parents and grandparents. I ended up preserving my bouquet and lei that she made. Now I look at them in their frames and feel all the same emotions I felt when I first saw them. I've been following Valerie's (the owner's) account on Instagram for the longest time and am in love with her creations. I finally had a reason to order a lei po'o from her and it was more perfect than I could've imagined! She is the sweetest and an absolute joy!!! Ordering was incredibly easy as she is incredibly helpful with her input and suggestions when I had questions about which flowers she thought would look best. My husband and I got married in Avalon, CA in September 2022 and Hakus & Love was one of the vendors that was on our suggested list for our Catalina Island wedding. I started looking at Valerie's website, and the Hakus & Love Instagram page to see what her work looked like and immediately fell in love and knew that she was the florist that we needed. We were getting married on an island, with our ceremony being on the beach and reception being at a venue on site that gave off elegant beach vibes and we knew that we wanted our wedding to be tropical and elegant, but at the same time minimalistic. We reached out to Val and she was an angel to work with, from our first phone call until after the wedding she's been nothing but sweet, attentive, easy to communicate with, and accommodating. We were having a Luau themed rehearsal dinner and decided that we also wanted to wear lei and got those through her. They were beautiful and just what we were looking for. My husband and I both have grandparents that have passed away and knew that we wanted them to be a part of our ceremony, so I had charms made with their pictures and Val attached both of mine to my bouquet and my husbands to his boutonniere. Val was very easy to work with and made sure that our vision came to life. The first thing I said to my husband when I got to the altar before our officiant started was "Oh my gosh, look at all the flowers" as I looked up at the beautiful altar install that she had made. I cannot express how happy we were with all of Val's work--I couldn't stop staring at my bouquet when I was getting my hair and makeup done! I attended a Hakus & Love work shop at Pacific City and I loved it! Valerie went above and beyond to create a beautiful atmosphere for everyone to gather and create it. Valerie did a great job working with a big group and making sure everyone had the help they needed and had their questions answered. I highly recommend attending a workshop or hiring Hakus & Love for a workshop at your home for a party. I brought home the Haku I made at the workshop to my mom for her birthday, and since then we have purchased 2 Hakus and 1 Lei for friends on different occasions. I first took one of her lei making workshops at Pacific City, and she was graceful enough to let my 6 year old daughter attend the class too.
