    Signature beef pho
    Anna L.

3.5 stars Halal pho restaurant located in a strip mall with a small menu of pho, rice, and appetizers. The staff/owner is actually Chinese and not Vietnamese. The beef pho was ok but a tad on the sweet side. I also had the chicken wings but didn't enjoy them. There was too much breading and the meat itself was bland/dry. The sauce was a bit too cloyingly sweet and tangy. It was interesting that the fortune cookies also had arabic on them.

This little corner in the back of the Electchester mall is pretty busy with this new sleeper Vietnamese restaurant. My son found this place a few months ago on social media and the word has gotten out because there are plenty of people dining in, while hunched over steaming bowls of Vietnamese noodles. My first time was for takeout but we decided to dine in to try out more of the menu. There are not a lot of menu items, but what they do have, they do well. The Peppered Calamari is easily the best dish. The breading has great seasoning with a satisfying crunch, while the squid rings are both tender and have a pop when you bite into them. Swish them in the spicy/sweet dipping sauce and I was sad when the last ring was gone. My son and I both got the Signature Beef Pho, which was decent sized with plenty of slices of eye round & brisket. I like that they put in plenty of green onions and cilantro and also give you a side plate of bean sprouts, fresh basil, sliced jalapenos & lime wedges to garnish to your liking. My wife got the Curry Chicken & Rice with a big mound of fragrant Jasmine rice. The chicken though was diced very small and the potatoes were kind of mushy, but with good flavor. I had gotten the Cumin Lamb Fried Rice last time for takeout and it was super flavorful and spicy and maybe a little overseasoned. If you like the taste of cumin and lamb, this is a great dish. The parking lot is large and busy by the entrance from Jewel Ave, but just go to the back where the restaurant is and there are plenty of open spots. They used to charge to park in here and you had to get your ticket validated at each store, but now the gates are wide open and you can come and go as you please.

After having a great meal at the newly opened New York Pho House in Bayside, I was excited to try their original location. We arrived around lunch time on a Sunday and the restaurant was empty. The menu here is more extensive than Bayside but we opted for their classics - Beef short rib pho and beef banh mi. The pho came out first and the short rib was huge. They even gave us a pair of scissors to cut the beef. The short rib was quite tender and cooked well but a bit too heavy after a few bites. The broth was saltier than the Bayside location but still hit the spot. The beef banh mi was decent as the veggies brought it to life. The bread didn't taste like it was freshly baked, which is a make or break for me. Overall, it was a pretty unsatisfying meal but I am interested in seeing if their lamb fried rice is good.

Came here to try their original location after trying their latest location and while this location offers more menu items, the items here didnt exactly blow me away. Ordered their banh mi and their beef rib pho, banh mi is a definite skip, everything that makes for a good banh mi, such as great bread, good filling, they completely miss, what I got instead was stale ish bread, pickled vegetables and a mystery meat patty, not exactly appetizing. The bone rib pho was, okay. The rib meat was a bit tough and a little on the bland side, but the broth was good and portions decent. The best thing about this pho franchise honestly is the broth for their pho, otherwise there is nothing really standout about it and only warrants a visit if youre really really in the mood for pho

Took over Kobe Ramen a couple months ago. It is in a shopping center, so there's a parking lot. They have a lot of seating, and I saw a lot of takeout orders. They are halal, so if that's a dietary restriction for you, this is the place to go. The service is helpful and friendly. We were sharing everything, so they brought us out bowls to share. The Beef Pho had a flavorful broth, though a little on the salty side. The meat was a bit overdone. Everything else had a good bite. The Peppered Calamari is peppered indeed. I love the fish sauce/sweet & sour dip, which balances the friedness. The calamari was good quality. The Cumin Lamb Fried Rice a bit dry too, but good flavor. I heated up the leftovers with a splash of water and it was less dry. Maybe add some broth to this if you get the pho too. The Thai Iced tea is well balanced, a little sweet for me, but that was expected. Got a fortune cookie at the end of the meal, which was nice. Everything came out pretty quick, so definitely a good spot to hit for a quick tasty meal.

Service is hit or miss - I came in early on and they do move you around sometimes while eating to adjust the seating. The quality is great and this time service was fast. Big supporter of unique halal spots and so happy to have this in queens.

This place is a great example of "not judging a book by its cover" The parking lot is large and busy, and you'd never think there was a restaurant here you'd want to visit. lol. I heard good things about this place. So, I Stopped in to grab pho to go. I got the Short rib pho. I also got the lamb sewers. The Short rib pho was so good. I love how they put everything in separate containers so it doesn't get the noodles mushy. The skewers were good. I wished i had time to sit there and dine in. The place has a nice vibe. I will definitely be back!

This has become a staple on my lunch break! I absolutely love this place and without exaggeration - it is hands down the BEST pho I've ever had. The flavor of the broth is so delicious. I love that the rice noodles aren't overcooked, the beef is tender, and the portion is very decent size. They put just the right amount of cilantro. The summer rolls are good too. I love the thai iced tea as well, it is sweet but a nice treat once in a while. On top of having amazing food - the service is fantastic. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. The inside looks great and is very clean. I truly enjoy going in here and I'm happy this place took over. I hope it stays!! The only thing I wish is that they delivered!

I was hungry and I was craving for pho so I was looking around in the area of kew garden since I was in that area. I am always down to try new pho spots and this spot was the perfect spot because it has high rating in yelps and it will be new to me. Place looks clean and presentable when I walked in. The waiting staffs are very attentive. I ordered the biggest pho . When it came I notice the lemon was dry... the jalapeño were also a bit old, and they barely gave any bean sprouts .... Then I start devouring the pho and I notice the broth was amazing ... before you know not I finished the whole bowl and I am still hungry.. then I notice the portion they gave us extremely small... for a bowl costs $17...

I ordered the lamb fried rice and unfortunately didn't enjoy it. The Vietnamese coffee wasn't great either. That said, I'd probably go back to give their pho a try.

This place has the most amazing service. Our waitress was super attentive and polite. The food also came to our table fairly quickly. On a rainy day, the pho was nice, warm, and filling. This place did not disappoint.

I've been here about 4 times in the span of 2 months and omg it's always delicious! We always order the signature pho and Thai ice tea, and it just so good every time! My advice is, visit during the day. I found that towards closing the broth and meat are just avg versus during the day it's a 10/10. We also tried the calamari this time and it was piping hot and perfectly cook. The dipping sauce take it to another level. I'm so grateful it's halal! I've had both and non-halal and halal pho and this is DEFINITELY UP there! Service is always speedy, the servers are so kind! It's a super clean space and casual! They're continuously expanding the menu, but I promise everything is amazing!

It started as soon as we walked into the restaurant; there was an unfortunate water leak dripping down from the ceiling, right by the entrance. The staff put a bucket below a huge water bubble that had formed in the ceiling, to catch the drips... but you had to walk around it to get into the restaurant. Kind of weird that the staff didn't think of getting from a hardware store, one of those tarps that catches ceiling leaks and diverts the water thru a hose to a bucket... that isn't in the way of customers entering the restaurant. Anyway, we sat down, and ordered an old favorite dish, and decided to try a new one. The old favorite is the House-made Fish Cake Pho (Pho Cha Ca)! The kitchen staff hand makes the fish paste from scratch, with some kind of super addictive & flavorful spices, and I've really enjoyed it in the past. We also decided to try the Shaking Beef Rice (Com Bo Lac Lac) for the first time. Unfortunately, both dishes were disappointing. The fish cake in the pho looked and tasted like typical frozen type you can get at any Asian market... and was confirmed when we asked the staff. Where's my ATF fish cake?!? The beef cubes in the rice dish were (a) super overcooked (like beef jerky level chewy) and (b) the sauce was way, way too salty. We also noticed the restaurant manager, Ngan, wasn't working that night. Perhaps all these problems happened because she was away on holiday? And Pho99 will be back to its usual spectacular food after she returns?

We specifically asked for the bean sprouts to be cooked, yet they came back completely removed. We also had to repeatedly ask for basic necessities--including the menu, forks, knives, and chopsticks. These are basic service standards that should not require repeated requests. We also felt rushed to order and pay, and our dishes were cleared while we were still eating, leaving us feeling more like we were being pushed out than welcomed as guests. For us, the food did not deliver the depth and authenticity we expect from Vietnamese cuisine, and the quality was inconsistent. The flavors felt noticeably toned down, particularly the fish sauce, which lacked the deep, fermented character we were expecting. The bún bò Huế was decent, but the grilled pork chop with rice and fried egg was dry, tough, and poorly cooked. Overall, the food did not leave a strong impression. An 18% gratuity/service charge was included on our bill, and we did not leave an additional tip based on our experience. We would have appreciated clearer communication about this charge before ordering, particularly because it is a significant mandatory addition to the bill. What also bothered us was the communication with staff. At times, it felt like the waitstaff and female owner were having difficulty communicating with us in English. When we switched to Mandarin to make things easier, the response felt noticeably colder and less welcoming. Language should never become a reason for customers to feel uncomfortable or receive an attitude. For authentic Vietnamese food and genuinely attentive service, we'd recommend looking other options. We won't be returning.
