We've been visiting Halcyon since it first opened. They've been tweaking their menu and the current 2025 offerings are dialed in! The current mix of snacks and various Asian fusion offerings are consistently great. You can't go wrong with anything there. On the service side, we were blown away by our most recent visit. We popped in for beverages (Sparkbird IPA, glass of rosé) and a snack (Okonomiyaki dog). For whatever reason, our food buzzer never went off (this had never happened before). When I went in to ask about the lost food order, they not only comped the first food and beverage order (and expedited a replacement dog) but also comped our second round. This is going to sound weird, but every once in a while I have a craving for a "fancy" hot dog. Specifically, a good dog with fun or unique toppings. On a recent afternoon in Seattle, I found Halcyon thanks to Yelp! and yes, it scratched that itch. We arrived around noon on a sunny Sunday and the bar area, which is very pretty, was mostly empty. But as we ate, a few dog parents (now we're talking about canine dogs, not the hot dogs I mentioned earlier) came through to sit outside with their pups. I had a Kim Chi Dog, which came with (you guessed it!) kim chi, as well as cream cheese, a house mayo, and green onions. My husband had the Seattle dog (hold the jalapenos, because he's spice-sensitive.) We split the furikake fries. Everything was delicious and hit the spot. It is a brewing company, so I felt compelled to try a beer. I got one of their dark beers (Midnight Coterie) and, while I only had a few sips before feeling full (funny how a dark beer will do that to you) it was the perfect companion to a bar lunch. This was a perfect spot for an afternoon beer and a dog. I hope to be back some day! read more

In short: A big, bright, clean space with a kitchen full of izakaya-ish pub grub and a solid, full lineup of beers. In long: Back when I still drank beer, I was in this space for the first-night grand-opening bash thrown by the previous tenant. They spent 10+ years here making decent beer and countless happy memories, along with all kinds of interesting special events. Halcyon is here with essentially the same layout, stripped down a bit and repainted. Big dining room, bar lengthwise down the middle, with another dining room past that and the cool beer garden is still in place out to the left. The place used to look a lot fancier--dark wood, velvet curtains, brass railings. Old school. What's here now has kind of a freshened-up-industrial-space look, but that's weird only if you spent many a time in the old space. It feels nice now, too, in its own way. They have big shiny brass brewing equipment visible in the back of the dining room; the brewhouse used to be fully behind closed doors. We came in for lunch on a Friday, and after sitting for a minute or two were bluntly informed to order at the bar. Kid seemed nice enough in the end, and no doubt he's a competent bartender, but he certainly was not delighted to be at work on a sunny Friday afternoon. They have about 15 beers pouring, at least today. All kinds of stuff--the usual hoppy suspects, plus a saison, sours, an alt, maybe a couple other old-school european styles. I really dig that kind of diverse lineup, rather than 12 IPAs and another thing or two for variety. You can get flights of 4 4-oz tasters. They have quart crowlers to go in the cooler. We got veggie dumplings, pork dumplings, popcorn chicken, and one of the fancy hot dogs. Virtually everything has a Japanese touch to it--furikake, bonito, the chicken seemed like karaage. One hot dog is called the "umami bomb." Both kinds of dumpling were great, the hot dog was solid, and the chicken was gone before any of the rest of us could ask for a bite. Good food! Reasonably priced, too. You order, you get a little beeper/buzzer, and walk up to grab your tray. Food comes out pretty quickly. You can definitely order a whole meat worth of food at once, but I bet plenty of people order a little, get another beer, order a little more, and so on. Two paths to satiation. I have to say the mural in the beer garden is now much prettier than the old Henry walruses. I miss the historic connection to the Walrus Tavern, but we have plenty of Henry stuff in this town, and new ones go up quickly. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I find the new mural to be a perfectly fine addition to Greenwood Avenue. I dug this spot. read more

This review is just for the hot dogs, since my friend brought me here to try a Seattle dog for the first time. We arrived right when they opened for lunch on a Friday so it was pretty quiet. We ordered the banh mi dog and the Seattle dog to share. The bartender was friendly and our food came out quickly. The Seattle dog was strange yet interesting with the cream cheese, jalapeños, and caramelized onion toppings. The cream cheese and jalapeño combo worked for me, but the caramelized onions made it too sweet for me to really like it. Glad I tried it! The banh mi dog was what I expected and delicious. There's no table service so you order at the front, get a buzzer, you know the drill. The beer is fine, a few different choices. Stopped by this amazing brewery in Greenwood on a busy Friday. Thankfully we had a reservation for our large group that evening. They have a solid beer collection and not to mention their food is top notch too. I tried their huckster, urban hike beers and for food had the pork dumplings (absolutely amazing though a tad spicy just the way I love it) and their Ode to Banh Mi hot dogs (tasty). All of us enjoyed our beers as well some were ipa fans and some were lager fans but everyone was happy with their selection. They have a huge indoor seating area with a projector too and have a few spots outside. Parking can be a pain but there is a paid lot in the back side of this brewery so thats convenient. All in all this place has great beers, great dumplings, good hot dogs & great service! Highly recommend if in the area. read more

It's a brew pub with a kitchen. Beer was good. I had a hazy IPA. Spouse really like the Greenwood dry cider. Paid $20 for a basket of fries to share with our birthday party group. It's a great set up. Little kids could run around without other patrons complaining but better reserve ahead. Ordered two 10-piece dumplings. One order was spicy the other not. My fault I thought these would be shareable but the dumplings were in a sauce and too sloppy to share. Yummy but felt a tad pricey for ordering at the bar and being paged to come get the food when it ready. So two drinks two orders of saucy dumplings and a basket of fries came to $73 before tip. Came here to enjoy the sunny day. They have a large outdoor space with several tables and we were able to sit outside with our dog. My husband said he enjoyed their beer. I came for the food. Their hot dogs are some of the best hot dogs I've had. We ordered the Seattle dog, which if you're not aware, it's a hot dog with cream cheese, jalapeños, and onions. We also ordered the Japanese umami bomb that came with a chili crunch and green onions that was very good. I'd definitely come back here and highly recommend this place. read more

I came here on their opening night with a bunch of friends looking to support a new local business. They're still in the beginning of their design of the interior but there is also an outdoor patio with a decent amount of tables. There are also a couple of areas inside as well as a large projector playing sports. My first drink was the BBIS imperial stout which was $8 for a 7oz drink. It was a stronger beer at 14% but was still slightly sweet. My second drink was the robust porter which was lighter than the stout but still had a slight hoppy after taste and a good amount of coffee flavor. My last drink was the red cap whitewood cider which was slightly dry but a very light and refreshing way to end the night. What I really liked about this place is that it was not super loud inside with blaring music so you can actually do what people come here for: having great conversations with friends. I didn't have any of the food but they are mostly Asian fusion hot dogs with ingredients like kimchi and kewpie mayo. This is another one of the great breweries in the area that you will always have a good time at. read more

Halcyon is the new popping place to be! Drinks are cold and the place is beautiful inside. They even have a new mural. Their head brewer, Tom has been brewing in Seattle for a long time now so he knows what's up. Definitely come check it out. Fun fact, the ownership is half BIPOC women so it got that diversity factor. It's lit. Recommend the halcyon pale ale, the porter, and the strawberry guava sour. Cider is real nice too. Halcyon Brewing is where Naked City Brewing used to be. The space is a lot different looking as it has a more refreshed and brighter look to it. In my mind Halcyon is just getting started so they don't have a huge tap list of their own beers but what they have is good. I bought the Halcyon Pale which was pretty good. Fairly enjoyable! The other beers that I saw from Halcyon which are mostly collaboration beers with other breweries. One beer was a collaboration with brewery neighbor Flying Bike. That beer was called Kookaburra. This beer has several different kinds of hops to it like El Dorado hops and Citra and was decent as well. The final one I took home in a mason jar they provided which was a collaboration beer with Three Magnets Brewing. Lull was the name of that one with rye being a featured ingredient to this pale ale, again a pretty solid beer. All in all I enjoyed these beers well enough. I did think that their tap list was very hop heavy with pale ales and would like to see them branch out to making things like pilsners, kolsches or porters but again it looks like they are just starting out so I will just need to keep an eye on what they have in the future for their tap list. read more

I'm so surprised we have never been here before - it's a cool space with a nice outdoors patio. The patio has space heaters but I recommend bundling up if you're sitting outside in the winter. I was in the mood for a sour (normally partial to IPAs) and loved it! My wife's cider was equally good and our friends got the pilsner which was also good However, the unexpected stars of the show were the dumplings, which are made fresh onsite. I made an ABSOLUTE GOOF and didn't take pictures of our beers (IPA and stout). I was too caught up in admiring this newer spot. Very chic and modern inside, comfy brewery feel but also cute enough for a nice date night out. They have some food offerings and it was a treat to try these different hot dog variations! Yums. I really enjoyed the stout, not sure which one I ended up with because they were out of a couple on the menu. It was mild, easy to drink, with notes of maple. My friend is a neighborhood regular and always likes their IPA offerings. The bartender was really helpful and friendly, got to chat about the company and some of their work. We love coming here. Great selection of drinks. Food is super yummy. My only gripe is from last night. We came around 5 pm and sat outside. Two tables down, there were three guys with two dogs. One of the dogs was a muzzled Pitbull. Anytime anyone got near the table, the dog would lose its mind, start barking and growling. I have no problem with dogs being outside at a brewery, but this felt dangerous. There were little kids running around. I wish the owner knew better, but maybe a rule that potentially dangerous dogs (it being muzzled and still showing aggressive behavior is a huge tell), would go a long way to make everyone feel safer. read more

Visited Halcyon after they had been open a couple weeks and while they're still getting set up a bit it's worth visiting. They had their first two brews on tap of which I sampled both and was pleased. They were ales with good crisp flavor and not the standard PNW kill you with hops style. This place is great, great dumplings, great beer, great service. It could be more cozy. It feels a little cold but I think it's not a big deal. and if you are allergic to cigarette smoke, don't sit in the back because the cigarette smoke wafts in from the dudes smoking outside. Went in for a game on the big screen with friends and it was like a daycare with screaming kids in the back, south side - multiple other groups left and also let beer tender know .
