Hosting a cheas tournament that night added a bit more crowd, but mainly outside. The two large rooms of the business was mostly filled with people. They have a few games to play, and a Photo Booth for a classic take home memory. The Burger itself I would consider average. The tots were really good and on HH special when I went. I also had a pint of the Hefeweizen they had, which I felt meh about as it didn't taste like Hefeweizens usually do, but that's on the beer probably. I mostly sat and read my book at the bar where the lighting was best but the music was also solid with metal and punk rock mostly. King's is a dive bar of the highest order. Case in point: they have skee-ball, Big Buck Hunter, a very large but dimly lit dining room, Montucky cold snacks, and Twisted Tea in BOTTLES. 'Nuff said. But actually it's not enough, because I need to let you in on a little secret: King's has hands down the best buffalo wings in Seattle. At least I have yet to find better ones, or even any that really come close. They are modest in size, not from some 'roided out mutant bird, perfectly crispy yet tender, and tossed in a superb classic buffalo sauce. If you are a fan of wings, do NOT sleep on these. In fact, all of their bar food is excellent. Their chicken tenders are also some of the best in town, their tavern burgers are basic but wonderful and priced reasonably, and they have curly fries which, in case you didn't know, are an optimal form of potato. I come here weekly for a chess club (yeah, I'm a nerd). Each visit is about the same each time which is pretty good. With some variance good and eh along with it. Kings, which I suppose used to be a hardware store in the olden days but now has become a hotspot on the Ballard strip amongst a host of other places. A basic looking bar with divey dimness but kind of outdoorsy style with wood decor and taxidermy. Most of my visits have been just for drinks while playing, but I had the spicy chicken sandwich. Not bad. The cut, slaw and spice were all there. The fries were really good. Just the right amount of crisp and saltiness. This along with burgers and chicken fingers are pretty much the make up in the way of food here. The beer options are alright, kind of the basics for the area which is ok, help it stay different from the breweries around The barstaff/waitstaff seem to be about the same every visit and they're pretty cool. The bouncer dude seems to take his job a little too seriously at times, but the benefit of the doubt comes in since this seems like Kings biggest demographic is 20 somethings so he's extra all over that. I remember coming to King's Hardware years ago. I love the unique name and the inside connecting doorway to Rudy's Barbershop next door as well as the larger sized outdoor covered seating in back. And of course, who doesn't love skeeball? There's two skeeball machines for use in the back of the bar. Fun game. We had a waitress named "Knives" serving us and she was very nice and knowledgeable. Plus her name was sooo cool. Hard to forget! We had the Bull Rings (Onion Rings) and a couple of drinks. Very good pub style onion rings and a fun atmosphere here. Our bill even came with a free souvenir postcard (pictured in review). Overall, this is a fun place to try in old Ballard and it fits right in among all the other bars nearby. Visited on a trip to Seattle during COVID. We were seated outside and were allowed to pick our own table/booth. The waiter was extremely kind and friendly but I don't remember her name. We ordered buffalo wings and an order of waffle fries (which are bomb!) They were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I'm not a big drinker, but when I do drink I like things that don't taste super strong and these arnold palmers are exactly that. They are the perfect mixture of alcohol and arnold palmer in a slush. They were so delicious, our table ordered six of them. We asked for extra sauce on the side because we were given blue cheese (we don't like blue cheese) and didn't know we were charged for them until we saw the bill. I've only ever been on Mondays and they are sometimes busy sometimes not, but I've never had a problem finding a table right away and their service is quick! The staff is incredibly nice and are always on top of things. I have really never had a negative experience with the service there. Wing Mondays have become a somewhat regular occurrence for my best friend and me (our attendance is usually based on whether the rotating special sounds good to us or not). We order around 30 wings to share and along with that we've tried various items like their wedge salad, fries, tots, etc. and everything has been solid. This is the place to go if you have a large group. We got there early and were able to fit 15 people at the picnic tables in their heated enclosed patio. The vibe of this place is kinda grungy, but they have surprisingly decent cocktails. I love it when a place has a Rachel's ginger beer mule. Very attentive staff too for how busy it was! We've been here a few times and one of my favorite parts is that we can bring our dog! Whenever we want to go out somewhere and bring him - this is our go-to! We were able to find (paid) street parking. I've been able to order the wedge salad gluten free and enjoyed that. We also always order the tots (gluten free) as a side which are very good - I believe it is a shared fryer so beware of that if you are gluten free and more sensitive to that. In the past, I only came to King's Hardware to meet up with friends for a cheap Rainier on a late Friday and Saturday night and watch people make bad decisions or fools of themselves. However, now that I'm way past my partying years, I was pleasantly surprised to see they served up some pretty damn good burgers and food. I met a friend here hoping to catch Happy Hour. Unfortunately, the only Happy Hour deals they have on food was just $1 off on burgers from 4-7pm. It's disappointing, but no matter. We each ordered a burger anyways. I ordered the King's Burger while my friend got the Rico Suave. If you like a burger with everything, this is the burger to get. Why do I have to choose between mushrooms, bacon, or cheese? I want it all! With everything on it, this makes for a hefty burger with a nice bun I might add. Compliment it with tator tots and you'll be full for the next 3 hours. As for my friend's Rico Suave burger, you don't often see cream cheese on a burger, but it's a good combination with the jalapenos. He described it as a "late night Seattle Hot Dog but in burger form." In addition to pretty good burgers, there's also Skee Ball in the back of the bar with Buck Hunter sandwiched in between. For $0.25, this is some of the cheapest entertainment in Ballard. If you're really competitive, there are Skee Ball Tournaments on Wednesday's. This place is one of the busiest bars on the weekends, but if you're looking for a lower key experience, you'll want to come here between 4-7pm for a Happy Hour burger and just hang for a beer, or 2, or 3. Very spontaneous trip to grab dinner somewhere in Ballard and after walking around, my partner and I decided to give King's Hardware a shot. For the menu, we had to scan a QR code on the table. Very easy and efficient. However, we were sad to find out that they got rid of their happy hour post covid. Understandable but I wish that was mentioned on their website before we took our seats. As someone from out of state, i ordered the fremont ipa.. unfortunately, they did not have it in stock. I settled with the maritime on tap which was nothing to write home about and my partner got the mezcal mule, which was also just alright. The food. I got their classic cheeseburger and my partner got their wings. For a place that has "Burgers" written in large font on their windows, I was extremely disappointed. The patty was small which made me feel like i was eating just bread at times. However, i got the tater tots instead of the waffle fries and the tots are the one thing holding me back from giving this place a 3 star rating. The wings were good. Pretty generous amount and the hot sauce (buffalo maybe?) was definitely a highlight. Overall, im giving this place a 4/5 because despite the disappointing cheeseburger we enjoyed our meal, the spacious outdoor seating arrangements and service esp during these difficult times. read more

I finally came here for the first time after hearing about it for literal years. And yes, it delivered! We came on a Tuesday so the special was $4.99 burgers! I haven't seen a burger that cheap (besides Dick's) in forever, especially during this inflation period. We missed happy hour (goes until 7 I believe!) but the standard King's Burger is $4.99 every Tuesday night, all night long (usually $14). They have a fun cocktail menu, including some throwbacks (Cosmos, anyone?), Jell-O shots, and slushies. We enjoyed our drinks and food in the backyard outside and then moved inside to play some games (Skee Ball and Buck Hunter) and use the photobooth. The arcade games they have are fun AND there is a quarter machine if you have any $1 bills on you. One of the games also takes cards, and so does the photobooth. I can see now how easy it is to spend countless hours here...we will try to make it back again soon for another delicious burger! read more

Ending up here was sort of a happy accident. Trying to find a place to eat in Ballard on a Friday night is always a little hectic, even during a pandemic. My favorite part was definitely that they gave us blood bags for the bottle cocktail and I'm a SUCKER for spooky themed drinks!! Having that wing craving again. Since we were on the other side of town from Nickerson's, our usual haunt, we stopped in here. Kind of divey, but that's not necessarily a negative. Our waitress, Alyssa was right there for drink orders. Unfortunately there wasn't anything close to what we like to drink, so we settled for a 'white wine' and my husband had a random beer When the wings arrived they were dry and stringy.
