    Guava matcha.

Q: Why did the coffee bean keep checking his watch? A: He was pressed for time. Halekulani Bakery is a light, bright, wood-lined bakery featuring treats including croissants, muffins, and coffee. My waifu, Sherly M., told us to come here. As someone who doesn't eat too many sweets, even I found myself falling in love with this place. After a few hours at the beach, we popped into the Halekulani Bakery for a pick-me-up and some treats. $8 Salted Caramel Croissant, $7.50 Chocolate Croissant, $8.50 Guava Matcha, and a $7.50 White Mocha were ordered. AMAZING after a morning on the beach. The drinks were smooth and the croissants were flaky and delicious. I thought the salted caramel croissant would end up being too rich or too sweet but it was perfect with the earthiness of the guava matcha I was drinking. I need to get their coconut cake slice the next time I'm there!

Clockwise from left most pastry: passion fruit custard filling 5/5, black Carmel kouign amann 4/5, and mango cream cheese bread 3/5
    Jenny D.

I think the pastries were baked very well. Many of the custard and fillings had a Hawaiian or island twist. Lots of passion fruit and lilikoi. Kouign amann: 4/5 delicious but couldn't have too much because it was pretty sweet. Extremely caramelized and has an extra toasted slight burnt taste if you like that! Passionfruit pastry: 5/5 crispy flakey and light on outside like a perfect flat croissant with creamy passionfruit custard. Mango cream cheese bread: 3/5 I would skip. Bread was like sour dough, tough to eat and not remarkable. Vanilla latte: 4/5 solid coffee, but maybe a little too roasted for my taste Long lines in the morning especially weekdays. Also very close to center of Waikiki and the Sheraton. There's also the spamusubi cafe nearby!! Plenty of seating outside and some inside too. Such a cute cafe/bakery.

We arrived around 9:30 AM, and since they're open daily from 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM, most of the pastries were already gone by the time we got there. Luckily, we managed to grab the last Pabana Croissant (passion fruit, mango, and banana) and a slice of coconut cake, there were only a few slices left! We're so glad we still had the chance to try their pastries and cake. The Pabana filling had a great balance of sweetness and flavor, not overly sweet. The passion fruit really stood out, with a slight hint of mango, though the banana flavor wasn't very noticeable. As for the coconut cake, it had a strong coconut aroma, a soft texture, and a rich, satisfying filling. The cream wasn't too sweet either, which made it even more enjoyable. Overall, we loved everything! If you're planning to try their pastries, definitely go early, items sell out quickly. Store hours are 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM daily. :)

One of my former coworkers suggested that we stop by here to enjoy some morning pastries and catch up. It had been years since I visited Halekulani Bakery, so I was excited to check it out again. The gorgeous bread display immediately caught my eye upon entering, but it wasn't long before we were able to move through the line to the pastries. Holy perfect laminated dough, Batman! I cannot even fathom the technique it requires with the butter to get SO many layers of flaky, golden pastry. I opted to get the chocolate haupia brioche, garnished with chocolate flakes and a gold leaf. We were lucky enough to snag one of the tables as a family was leaving, so we got to enjoy our meals immediately. Yum! The brioche wasn't sugary and had a rich chocolate flavor. The textures inside were both creamy and crunchy, so it provided a nice contrast as I bit into different sections. I'm so glad I got to visit again after all this time. They have so many different options to try, so I want to come back before the trip is over, especially as the signature coconut cake and the beni-imo tarts both looked incredible!

Wow, I knew that this bakery was famous and I now know why. The salted caramel croissant was incredible. We also picked out a few other pastries but this one won the contest! The espresso machine was broken so we will be back tomorrow to try their lattes.

A Waikīkī must go to spot for sure!!! The entire experience is wonderful. I wish they had this in So Cal. It would be a hit. From the amazing greeting when you walk in to the wooden trays and tongs for self service. I had a Kona coffee and chocolate dessert. Wow! I will definitely go back to get another before heading back to the main land.

The Halekulani Bakery was good when they first opened. It is ahmazing now! Was privileged to visit again while friends staying at the Halekulani's sister property, the Helumoa. The bakery is actually in the Helumoa Hotel ACROSS the street from the Halekulani on Kalia Road... right next to Umi by Vikram Garg. Everything I've had here is spectacular. The fig and nut bread reminding me of my favorite in Korea. The pistachio raspberry croissant, had it two days in a row! Of course the signature salted caramel and chocolate croissant soooo good. The drip coffee or other fancier drink are perfect compliments (I really like their hot coffee on drip here tho expresso is available too). Looking for occasion to return for the elusive fig and prosciutto croissant and the delicious looking avocado toast. And if in the mood for their matcha guava latte. Tho, that drip coffee..! Parking is validated in the building for the first hour with purchase.

Because you deserve a treat after a morning run down Kalakaua..but run fast they close at 11:30. Iced Americano-cold and refreshing, avocado toast- a crisp slice of sourdough with a good amt of avocado, cherry tomatoes and sprouts, easy to eat no fork needed. And those pastries (because u ran, remember?)- chocolate brioche filled with haupia and chocolate or pabana croissant so delicious- nothing tastes artificial. Small sitting area outside, but its in a busy loading zone, smoke break area. But you won't notice while you're busy enjoying your treats.

Still our fave bakery. Lines have gotten longer- more bag merch but less shirt and mug choices to purchase. Kouignn was wonderful and coco cake will always be my go-to.

Such a cute and small bakery. Seemed very Japanese and authentic. I love these types of self serve bakeries. They also had such unique and special flavors, I didn't know what to choose. - pabana croissant: 9.4/10. Sooo good !! It's amazing how I can taste all three flavors in this croissant (passion fruit, banana, mango). Each flavor was subtle but present and delicious. The croissant was super fresh and crispy. - curry pan: 8.8/10. Different from your typical curry pan. It was more of a curry spiced filling loaded with beef.

Salted caramel croissants (left) chocolate croissant (right) cream cheese and mango (bottom)
    Dajone Z.

Out of the three pastries I picked everything tasted pretty good. I don't typically like chocolate croissants but this one was light and buttery with a nice crisp on the outer layer. I also really liked the salted caramel croissant but found it really messy to eat. Great place to grab a coffee and read a book all in all.

If you can transport a Parisian bakery to Waikiki - this is what it feels like! Best customer service, barista is a total pro and needs to teach classes. Had breakfast there for five days in a row. Coconut cake is out of this world. 10/10

    Chocolate NY Style Croissant
    Henry D.

We loved the pastries so much from the last trip we put Halekulani on our good bucket list for this trip. Sadly, they no longer make the NY Croissants. We liked the Pistachio and the Chocolate ones. I purchased a couple of other items this trip and picked wrong. The pastries I chose were a bit on the dry side. I did order a Caramelia Salted Chocolate Chip that I polished off before I got back to the AirBnb, it was yummy. On this trip, I ordered a Chocolate Haupia Brioche which looked really tasty but even with the filling the bread was dry. I also ordered a Pobana Croissant which had a Passion Fruit, Mango and Banana filling which sounded yummy, it was a bit on the dry side too. They have a variety of other pastries so we will definitely visit again on our next trip and try some of the other pastries. Definitely put Halekulani Bakery on your list of bakeries to try.

Tastes ok but everything is way too buttery/fatty. Feels like I am sacrificing my health and wellbeing for a quick bite to eat.

Ask the Community - Halekulani Bakery

The bakery offer any gluten-free options?

Yes, but very limited (maybe just one or two items are gluten free). I didn't pay attention to the desserts which may be GF, but they had at least a GF muffin option.

Does this location still offer breakfast buffet?

At the Halekukani Hotel across the lane they do. Believe it's at House Without a Key on weekends. Not at the bakery I don't think.

What is offered on the breakfast buffet? Mahalo!

Sorry I haven't been to the breakfast buffet. I have reservations for Easter brunch buffet and was told by the staff that their previous holiday buffet was a big hit.

Can I have a light breakfast such as a pastry and coffee besides the buffet?

Yes, I recommend the chocolate brownie bread from the bakery.

How much is the breakfast buffet and what does it consist of?

    $34

We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. Bad customer service. When you get there in a busy/rush hour, they expect you to grab a ticket but they barely use that thing. I waited with my family while the ladies behind the counter talk amongst themselves to finally notice us. Server Emily had a really bad attitude. She didn't even welcome us or greeted us when we walked in. Seems like they just hire anyone.. Rush hour is around 6pm-7pm. Not that busy. You usually see the same people everyday. Food at the restaurant... the prime rib isn't even a prime rib. New York and shrimp is too expensive for a very thin not deveined shrimps. I like my steak med rare but the last time I ordered it, they cooked it very medium well & so I got it taken back to the cook to get another one but a manager named Geraldine stepped in and said they'd have to charge me twice if I wanted another one. I'm a local and this was really unfortunate. Will never come back here due to the lack of customer service.
