We're from out of town and make a special trip just for the cookies because they're that good. The bakery has a great variety of treats, everything we've tried has been delicious, and the shop is always clean and inviting. What was really disappointing was the customer service. The woman working at the front wasn't kind or welcoming in any way. We weren't greeted when we walked in, and she seemed genuinely annoyed that she had to help my family and me. The entire interaction felt rushed and unfriendly, as though we were inconveniencing her simply by being customers. She was also tossing the tip jar around while checking us out, which made the experience feel even more uncomfortable. It's unfortunate because the quality of the bakery is excellent, but friendly service matters too. We love the cookies and will likely be back for them, but I sincerely hope the customer service becomes as enjoyable as the baked goods.

IMHO On the day before the big Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival, my friend and I managed to slowly drive down Main Street. Everyone it seemed was here to enjoy the town before the crowd converged on the weekend! Miraculously we found parking right in front of Half Moon Bay Bakery!!! I immediately perused the baked loaves and decided on the last Lemon Poppyseed loaf, $7. I also chose a Raspberry Crumble Cookie and a Walnetto Cookie, both $3. Both cookies were "good", but not great. I think they needed a little more butter or sugar for my taste. The Lemon Poppyseed is in the freezer, so I hope it doesn't disappoint. However, I'm sure I won't bypass this bakery the next time I visit.

Small town bakery with a good selection of cookies, donuts, bread and more. I tried some cookies to go with afternoon coffee. It's as takeout place with no seating. Decent enough.

Wandered in for some baked goods to take home. The choices are plentiful and it was difficult to make a choice but the nice female behind the counter recommended some items. I took home to try the apple strudel, raspberry crumble cookies, beignets and the artichoke pesto focaccia. All were fantastic, except the mini beignets.

My friends and I did a 20+ mile walk from the Sea (Redwood City) to the Bay (Half Moon Bay). When we arrived at Half Moon, I was very excited to check out this bakery as bakeries are one of my favorite things. Huge selection of so many goodies. Everything looked great. It was hard to choose and I ended up just looking and not buying anything as I didn't want to spoil dinner. It took great will power though. Casual. Parking on street and lots near downtown. Please come and create your own adventure.

Our favorite bakery to stop at in HMB. We had the pumpkin loaf and a sugar cookie. 10/10! Great service and love the vibe.

This is the local bakery and it's located in the heart of the Half Moon Bay. It is run by locals and I enjoyed interacting with them. They have selection of cakes and cookies. And everyone were going for cheese cakes, we got a turtle cheese cake it was yummy. It had caramel, pecan and cheese cake. The staff was super friendly and helped us pick the right cake. And the ambiance was so chill with people walking outside.

The artichoke bread smells great freshly baked and looks amazing. But once I tasted it, it was just fine. It was plain bread with artichokes and seasonings dressed on top. Nothing to run home about, especially for the price.

Can't believe this place has 4 stars, what a sham. The cannoli tasted like it was stuffed with whipped cream and imitation rum. The clerk was rude. I asked if she could split the cannoli in half and she said "there are knives out there," meaning plastic knives that don't cut through the rock hard cannoli And look at this cheese bread thingy where the cheese looks a couple days old And fiest your eyes on this sorry arse cinnamon roll that we suggested she use as a sample since it looks like it was fished out of the garbage can. But of course they left it in the case to sell This overpriced dive gets an "F" for fraud

I order a pie on Thursday or Friday for the weekend because they just don't have them laying around and this time it's an Apple Pie . Absolutely ridiculous Delicious! My Wife wrecked her dinner out by eating it to soon and was full on one slice.Better than my grandmother's recipe

I really liked the pickled onion and the choice of white cheddar. I'd say overall it wasn't as greasy as a full burger which I really appreciated! - Mushroom sandwich: out of the 2 sandwiches this one was my favorite! The Maitake mushrooms were very tender and flavorful! - Homemade Potato chips: staff told us that this tends to sell out before the end of the day, but we were lucky enough to get an order of them and they were very very good! The addition of nutritional yeast in the seasoning added a lot of great to the chips! - Herb salad: super refreshing salad, this salad is made with all herbs and the lemon dressing that they used was very light and refreshing, which I think balanced out the rest of the meal! ~overall~ I definitely recommend dad's luncheonette for a quick bite. The staff were very friendly and the food was really good. Everything tasted very fresh and not too heavy.

I had lunch here yesterday while driving down to Monterey. Dad's is a popular and unusual type of…read morerestaurant. It has a very limited menu and the kitchen is an old railroad caboose that is attached to a small enclosed shed where you order and has a few stools to eat inside, Outside they have several uncovered picnic tables in the corner of a parking lot. It is only open Thursday-Sunday 11:15 am to 4 pm. At the suggestion of the guy at the register I ordered the hamburger (which he said was the best you will ever eat) and had them add mushrooms to it. Their other specialty (other than the burger) is their mushroom sandwich. I also got their homemade potato chips and added a Diet Coke. I waited about 10 minutes for my meal to be served in a paper bag and then decided to sit inside on one of the stools. The burger is served on grilled square shaped sandwich bread and it was very good tasting. It wasn't a traditional burger with the shrooms, cheese, Dad's sauce, cheese, pickled onion and lettuce and fell apart by the time I was halfway thru it. It is definitely a knife and fork sandwich but I still enjoyed it. Also those homemade chips were also very good tasting. They had a (coating) on them and I can see why they are so popular. Yes this is a very good and unique type of place to eat. My only negative was the price. $16.25 for the burger, $5.50 for the potato chips and $3 for the can of Coke. With tax it was $26.65! But then this is California!

The bakery case had so many tempting options, and the staff was prompt and friendly. I ordered the ham and cheese croissant, which came out warm, flaky, and genuinely yummy. While it…read morehas a great location, the food and beverages have been very hit or miss, and I've stopped in a very decent amount. The good: We have special ordered their fruit cheesecake at least 5+ times for birthdays, and it doesn't disappoint. The raspberry half moon cookies were a tender shortbread texture and yummy filling, and I would purchase again. The disappointing: The fruit tart, however, was almost no custard and instead just a thick layer of frangipane which detracted from the freshness of the dessert. The crust was bland--tasted like eating straight flour, no butteriness or anything. Italian sodas are all ice, then commercial syrups at a too sweet ratio. Peanut butter cookies and butter cookies lacked flavor but were okay. The terrible: Why I finally wrote a review: Moonside has a stack of chocolate chip cookies in one of their pastry cases. They look beautiful! Packed with chocolate chips, golden and glistening like the perfect chewy, slightly underbaked cookie. We bought two! And they were the WORST chocolate chip cookies I have ever encountered. I ended up spitting out my second bite and just throwing them away--not even dipping them in coffee or tea could salvage the experience. I don't know WHY they look shiny and doughy--maybe an egg wash, though why would you egg wash cookies????--but they are dry as a bone. Not crispy, not crunchy--horribly textured, DRY. There's no butteriness, no hint of salt, no carmelization from brown sugar, nothing to give this cookie flavor in the least except the chocolate. And the chocolate was horrible--bitter and waxy, dried out and cheap tasting. A chips ahoy cookie would have been better. I don't know if I'll ever buy another cookie here--this was rough.
