    Pastries and pot pies
    Sharon S.

Good local coffee shop in Montara that is right off the highway. We needed coffee on the way to HMB and stopped by here to grab some. Son got the iced vanilla latte which he said was a bit milky but otherwise good. I wanted to get the apple pop tart for my hubby but they were out. I got a chocolate chip cookie instead. He enjoyed the cookie. The shop is quaint and cozy, a good place to work or read. Getting to the front door involved walking on an unpaved trail with gravel, but not too bad. Service was decent but not the friendliest.

Love love love their pies! The cafe is so cute and has live music, so close to nice nature nearby too. I definitely have a craving for their chicken pot pie and their Australian beef is also very good. The pies are also cute with a little figure on the surface indicating what's inside. Next time I'll get some frozen ones to bring home.

Cute, quaint café with a homey, rustic vibe and a cozy outdoor seating area. It's a counter-service spot, so you order first and then find a seat. The pies are served straight from the counter warmer. The pies were delicious! The crust was perfectly flaky, and the filling was rich and flavorful. I think it would have been even better if it had been warmed up a bit more before serving. The cafe drinks were excellent too and paired perfectly with the pie. Overall, a lovely spot!

WOW! WOW! WOW! Before heading to HMB, I researched what to eat around the area. This gem Sage Bakehouse popped up on Google maps. They sell Chicken Pot Pies! We love us some Chicken Pot Pies. After a long beach day at Montera State Beach. We decided to check them out. I'm so glad we did. I Decided to get 3 OG Chicken Pot Pie , 1 Habanero Chicken Pot Pie, 1 Minced Beef N Chedder Pot Pie and 1 Shepperds Pot Pie. If you buy 5 you get 1 free pie. They sell them frozen. It comes with clear instructions to bake at home. So far we've only tried to OG and Habanero. It what AMAZING! it was meaty and packed with flavor! The Habanero Chicken Pot Pie was SPICY which I love! I mean it's Habanero it's supposed to be spicy. Although the Pot Pies are on the small side. Still very delicious. They also sell other food items, coffee and other beverages. We just came here for the Pot Pies. Workers was friendly and helpful! When we got here I see people seating outside already enjoying their meals and drinks. Sage Bakehouse is located right on Pacific Highway 1. Nice big black bold sign with white letters you can't miss it! We will definitely be back!

Oh em gee. I was able to try them at a closer location, thanks to the San Mateo County inviting them to have a pop-up at Sawyer Camp. I wanted everything on their menu, but only allowed a sausage roll and a minced beef pie. They had other savory pies like chicken pot pie, mushroom and Swiss, and breakfast pies. You honestly can't go wrong with any of them. If they happened to have the sausage rolls, get them. But if I'm in line behind you and you take the last sausage roll, I will fight you for it. The spicy one was to die for. It's not too spicy, it's like those spicy Italian sausage. Very flaky, not too heavy, but they don't skimp out on the meat, so you will be full. I absolutely loved the fennel seeds in the sausage! I just don't know how to be full, so i tried their pie too. While the minced beef pie was good, it wasn't as great as the sausage roll. This is a piece I am willing to trek all the way down the 1 for.

Irish cream coffee and blueberry matcha coffee. Strawberry raspberry pop tart. So good!

We were in town for a girls' weekend trip and this coffee shop was right next to our air bnb. It's very cute. The staff was super friendly. The coffee was really good as well. We got the Irish cream coffee and their special blueberry matcha coffee. Their home made pop tart, oh my god, so good! We got the strawberry raspberry one and it was the perfect balance of sweet and tart. Definitely recommend people check this place out

Great pies sweet and savory, and other yummy options. Spicy sausage rolls, bbq pork pie, chicken pot pies, and raspberry and peach cobbler! Good coffee, fantastic service and can't beat the vibe with a great view! If on the coast stop by!

Very cute neighborhood coffee shop that serves savory/sweet pies, baked goodies, and coffee (obviously). Dog-friendly and the staff are also very pleasant. Nick (not sure if this is the same person who helped me, but it's the name on the receipt) was patient with me as I pondered my choices and asked about what pastries were available. We ended up getting an iced vanilla latte ($6), cold brew ($5), fig walnut scone ($4), and an espresso chocolate cherry pecan cookie ($4). I thoroughly enjoyed the vanilla latte and could actually see the specks of vanilla bean! It was initially VERY sweet, but it's because all the syrup was pooled at the bottoms. Onced mixed in, it was perfect. The scone was a big winner. I should have bought more to enjoy later on! It was soft and fluffy and just everything a scone should be. The cookie was decent, but I'm just not a bit chocolate person. I just wanted to try it out because it sounded interesting. They also offer some merch and other novelty items for sale. There's things like watermelon seed milk, doggie treats, and sugar cookies by @raemariebakes and they looked SO CUTE! Would definitely come back again if I'm in the area!

    Aussie pie and sausage roll

I was on my way to Montara state beach and decided to stop for lunch. When I discovered that the bakery makes Australian savory pies, I was so excited (their local competitors are few and far between in Vallejo and Windsor). I bought the traditional Aussie pie, the sausage roll and a chai latte. The pie was excellent, and the cafe knew to have ketchup on standby to complete the experience. The sausage roll was a letdown - the filling was crumbly and the pastry was too thick. They should try filo for a more authentic texture. I loved the dog friendly patio and the option to buy frozen pies (buy 5 get 1 free). I will certainly return when on the coast!

Always love this place. Had a delicious cold brew, and shared a pie and a sausage roll. Staff was super nice and helped me bring out my food since I was holding a baby. Patio is dog friendly. Took a few frozen pies to go.

Delicious pies! Coffee was lovely. They have a cute vibe inside and great views of the water from their patio

It's an Australian bakery with different types of savory breakfast pies. I got the chicken pot pie and it was delicious with the hot sauce. They also have handmade pop tarts, it was cold so I wish it had been warmed up. The service could have been friendlier, but it was quick. There's a small parking lot or street parking on the street behind.

One of the many savory pies; I suspect they're all amazing

Remote (between Pacifica and Half Moon Bay on Highway 1) but fantastic, and among the best savory pies in the Bay Area. I arrived mid-afternoon and selection was limited, but the pork verde was delicious and still warm). I'd go back if it were closer - for now I'll just remember how the warm pie in the cold coast kept me going.

Americano at top--excellent. Pumpkin to the left and Hungarian Chicken to the right. Both pies were good.

However, maybe it's because I waited a couple of days to eat it. Highly recommend transferring to a plate or trey if you're gonna wait as long as I did as some juices seeped out of the bottom corners of the box. My dad loves lemon desserts and he loved this one. He said it's like bread pudding. A very dense one. There's no weird aftertaste that many sugar free desserts or sodas have. I really couldn't tell it was sugar free! Everyone loved it. I opted for pickup instead of delivery since I was heading that way anyway. Parking is tough. I ended up parking in a red zone at the corner a few houses away and got a little worried but I was able to pick it up within 5 minutes without getting a ticket. Whew! Ordered directly from the website and got a text once the order was ready for pickup. The minute Veronica opened the door, a cloud of baked goods hit my nose and I was in heaven. I really had to refrain myself from eating it as soon as I got back to my car. I had to put it in my trunk to avoid temptation. Picked it up on a Friday and had to hide it from myself until Sunday for Father's Day! Looking forward to trying other items on the menu.
