Small bakery on Main Street with an unforgettable name and gimmick. We finished eating lunch and wanted to wander around before heading back home. This was one of our first stops to bring a little sweet back for dessert. Founded in 2015 by realtor Moriah Bettencourt, Moriah baked for fun and opened this bakery in HMB. On the website it says if she represents you as a buyer or seller you can get up to a year of free baked goods! Interior is very cute, I love the old aged floor and the nautical adn baked themed decorations, pretty unique for a baked good shop they also have some cut stickers and magnets made out of wood for sale. We got cookies and cupcakes. The variety of flavors they have for both is amazing and I really liked how neat the packaging was. We don't eat that much so we were happy the sizes are more standard and not too oversized. read more

The employees are great and offer great suggestions! We were recommended to try the peanut butter and jelly cookie. I don't even eat PB&J but these cookies are a delectable, crumbly peanut butter cookie with a light sugar crust, finished with extra peanut butter and a spoonful of jelly in the center. If they're in stock, they're a must try! The Twix cookie is also great- it's a shortbread base, caramel, and chocolate, and the lemon bars and pop tart bars are also worth grabbing. I stumbled in here because it looked like a cute gift shop. My timing also was great because the cookies were just put out and lucky me! The owner started her love for baking as a hobby and made it into a business to share her love for baking (you can tell by each bite). One of the features are they offer warm cookies. I tried the Nutella cookie and it was amazing! I even had it the day after and it was still good. I regret not getting a second cookie, but that's a reason to visit Half Moon Bay! I just went in here randomly and these sounded good. Got home. Tried them. so good! I ate them so slowly... made them last a few days. Got them to share with the kids but did not. I saved them for after their bedtime so I could enjoy their goodness in peace. I've been thinking of them every day... mainly because I saved this empty bag and I keep seeing it on my counter. I learned it was called Fish Wife Sweets because the owner is the wife of a fisher who had always wanted to open a bakery store and her dreams came true with this bakery! Everything is made from scratch and I loved that you order get warm cookies. I got the dark chocolate and pistachio cookie and it was perfection on a colder cloudy day. Just enough gooey-ness from the chocolate and texture from pistachio was the perfect combination in every bite. It was also not too sweet which my preference. I would definitely order this cookie again or try another flavor when I come back, possibly in the fall for the pumpkin festival at HMB! read more

Carissa opted for the more exotic PB&J. Both were delicious, but the PB&J cookie was really outstanding, and I loved the unique concept. The Meh: *Parking in this "Downtown" section of HMB can be difficult, but as long as you're willing to walk a bit, you can usually score a spot. *Only open Thu - Sun The Ugly: *Pricing at $12/4 cookies was a bit rich, but since they were good, I'll (kinda) allow it. Great little sweet shop. We ran across this shop while spending a few days in HMB. We actually went back the next day and made another purchase. Needless to say, my family liked their sweets. lol They have a cookie warmer as well, with hot cookies available. I had to indulge and try one on our second trip. We ended up buying a bag. Fell in love with the "Cowboy Cookie " a few years ago. But the bars are tasty too. Have bought cookies for Christmas Stockings and everyone loved them so much, each year Mrs. Claus has been asked if they are getting one. But this year, I have to say her exceptional service almost out weighs the baked goods (not really). There was a second page on my order that wasn't caught. When we went to pick up the order a couple things were missing. So asked about them. Luckily they had an extra pie, but the dozen of Cowboy cookies she would have to bake. Super cute and loved the S'mores cookie! They are so thoughtful to have a certain number warmed up, so you can enjoy it immediately in all of its gooey, marshamllow-y chocolatey glory. You can also take home sealed ones for friends/family. They also have bags of cookies for 12 dollars for 6 I believe. Love the wealth of flavors to try. I was particularly curious about the strawberry dipped in chocolate, so will have to try that + the Peppermint brownie next time! Fish Wife Sweets recently did all the desserts for my daughter's bat mitzvah party at Long Branch Farms. She was a dream to work with! We had a western theme and we brainstormed flavors for a pie and cobbler bar for the event. It was a highlight of the evening! We had individual cherry, olallieberry and peach pies, and lemon, brownie and caramel apple cobbler bars. Everything was SO good! She also made a smash cake for my 4 year old niece whose birthday was that day. It was great to be able to brainstorm and customize everything to get just what we wanted. I love, love, love Fishwife Sweets! Moriah is a true gem and sweetheart to this community. I started following and ordering from her during the pandemic. Her treats are made with so much love and sweetness she definitely earns her name. I was even more excited when she opened her brick and mortar here on Main Street. Now I could have access to her treats whenever my heart desires it. First let's get into what got me following her in the first place. The very first cookie I ever had was her s'mores one. She sells them at Spangler's Market in El Granada. It's a beautiful idea. What kid or adult doesn't like s'mores!!! This brought memories of making them over my mom's stovetop. Lol. It's delicious! Another time, I was given a sweet treat from Breakwater BBQ while I was waiting on an order. This one was her Cowboy cookie and let me tell you, it's one if my favorites. She also makes biscuits, brownies and cinnamon buns. You can always find a themed cookie, cupcake or pie during the holidays. She has an incredible way of making treats more fun to eat. Her treats are super creative. The shop is filled with her treats but she also shares her heart with this community. You can find unique gifts from other local vendors for your pets, family or friends. Everything is locally made and one of a kind. If you're ever in town, stop by. The lemon blueberry cookie was less lemony than I expected/hoped but still very good. First tried them at 2nd Saturdays on Harvard and have visited the store several times since.
