I'm in a book club and I had to track down our first selection for 2021. I called the Burleson location, they didn't have a copy of the title I was looking for but proactively looked up which location did. I called Mansfield from the referral and after confirming they had my book she immediately asked my name and offered to hold it for me. I popped in the very next afternoon and my title was at the front counter waiting for me. Half Price Books offers excellent customer service which makes me happy because I love bookstores and libraries with my whole heart. This is a great place to bring old books you may have laying around the house or even purchase good reads. Who said the book had to be brand new to get what you need out of it. I would definitely suggest going here. College students or book worm, I'm sure you will not be disappointed read more

The one star is for the nice ladies who greeted and assisted us during our visit. However, I will never go back due to being followed around the store as though my daughter and I were criminals. I can only assume it's because we are black. For whatever the reason, I'd rather pay full price and be treated with respect by all employees. No thanks! read more

First off, I love bookstores so take this review with that in mind. The store is packed with books, but is also clean and nicely organized. They also have a decent selection of games, book related gifts, and random stuff like Einstein and Tesla stuffed toys. You can't call a person a stuffed animal, right? I called looking for a test prep book, and was greeted by a friendly employee, who offered to place the book on hold. We showed up about 15 minutes later, and were greeted by another friendly employee who promptly checked us out. My book was indeed 50% off retail, though I have seen some that aren't. This place offers a wide variety of genres, and most of the books are in like new condition, some well... Have been used by people like me with coffee and highlighter afflictions. Just a small tip from me, I'd call ahead if you're looking for a particular book. Great place, plenty of parking, I'd definitely go back. read more

I came out here looking for a specific book, that I had found on their website. I had never been to this location before, as I usually go to the Arlington or Bedford stores that are closer to me. This store is awesome. The layout is a little different, but there doesn't seem to be a standard. Everything was clean and well organized. I had no trouble finding my book, however it was marked higher than what was listed ok their website. Even with the shipping, it was a dollar more! I walked over to the customer service desk where there was one woman scanning books. She immediately asked me if I needed help and I explained the situation. I was going to buy the book, I was just confused as to why it would be more expensive to buy it in store than to have it shipped to me. It never hurts to ask! She said they didn't control the listing prices online, but called over a manager to see if there was anything to be done. I pulled up the listing on my phone, same book, same location, he immediately discounted it another $2. Score! That's customer service! He was very polite and friendly and asked me if there was anything else he could help me with. I got what I came for and checked out. Everyone was so nice. Good customer service shouldn't be a rare occurrence, but it is. And it is appreciated. read more

Most of the staff are warm and extremely helpful, but there's one individual who sticks out like a fat abrasive thumb. When asked about non-religious or skeptical texts, Said individual blurted "I guess we don't have it" As I was checking out, I asked the man behind the counter, he walked me to the elusive section that was on the lower end of the bookshelf (I had completely missed it). Why wasn't she able to do what he did? Laziness? Unwillingness? Was she upset I had made her get up from the floor so i could browse the political section? These are questions I'll never have the answers to. While paying, I got into a conversation about plastic bag bans and she chirped in that "Dallas would NEVER (her emphasis) do that bc it's so red up here" Her tone was off putting, negative, and only confirmed my suspicions that she was someone I didn't want to be around. But the other 2 staff members who helped me out are wonderful and kind. read more

Great place for discounted books you're looking for, new books at a (I think) 20% discount, textbooks, music, games and other stuff! There are so many random finds in there too. If you find a blonde lady I think her name is Tracy you should speak to her. She seems upbeat and really likes books, but won't hesitate to chit chat with you like some sales associates would at other stores! read more

We love going here! But after my visit Saturday I will forever visit! I came in looking for a book they were out of everywhere, they were also out here and that's ok. I left and as I was about to pull out of the lot an employee had run out to tell me they just got on in as I was leaving! Mind you it was freezing outside, they didn't have to do that at all. I went in bought the book and am so pleased with the service I received. read more

I have shopped here 3 times now and worked with all areas of service: Selling, floor help and cashier. I understand retail can be tough, but the negative vibe in this store is just uncomfortable. They are snarky and no smiles, not even a Thank You when checking out. Not sure what is going on but they are just unpleasant to have to ask for anything or work with. I have worked with an older lady who stocks book looking for certain authors and get such an attitude that I am interrupting her every time. I just wanted to locate the shelf and look at all the books for a certain author and she kept saying "what do you want?" really rude. It was just weird!! Decided I will spend the extra gas money to head over to the Arlington store where they are really nice people and have a great priced clearance section as well. Really sad as this store is so close to my house and I always want to support HPB so I have a bookstore close to me versus Amazon. read more

What a jem! I ran across this store by accident. They run sales once in a while on DVD's We scored them at 1.00 each! They have a wide variety of books, games, electronics,dvds, etc. Books are reasonably priced, but the ipads and nooks are sadly overpriced. You can do better on amazon and get a warranty with them vs. buying used at only a 20.00 discount. Overall books and dvd's you can not go wrong. read more

I love hfb. However this stores employees need to be retained in their customer service. Or at least 2 of them. The girl with the short red hair and the young guy at the buy counter. They are both rude. A gentleman sold them an album that my husband I were interested in. When my husband inquired with the young man buy counter he was very rude in his explanation of their process. Then the red headed girl came over to price it. Although i found the very album online and showed her she argued that even though it said vinyl that it was cassette. So then I found it on another site priced a little more than the other and showed her again. Her respnse was "oh you should definitely buy that then". Just rude and she overpriced the album. She wouldn't even budge. It's not like I was tryng to get it free. Not good customer service at all from these two. They have lost my business. read more
