OMG the best place to get FRESSSSH seafood! I got the poboy shrimp and it was banginggggg! Ive ate at Laps...Felix and all that causeway stuff but Half Shell? THE BEST! Price range is around $20-28. Kinda pricey but soooo worth it! My poboy was only around $11 though. My boyfriend got the pot pie and that was around $25. The pot pie was okay. Oh and do not get the potatoes, not good! A picture is worth a million words, that's why I posted the pictures of my 3 plates. I was a little surprised by the great reviews and pictures and what I saw. I'm new to the area so I was following my directions closely. I came off the highway and turned into the lot where Baby's r us was I looked all around and was surprised that this restaurant was in a strip mall. I took a seat at the bar and was greeted by two men shucking oysters. I met my waiter/bartender, Tyler. It was a nice touch that he left his name on a little tent card which had pictures of the food and had my order written on the back. I ordered fish and grilled asparagus with a salad. The salad came out first and was fresh however; I should have asked for the dressing on the side; a little much for my taste. Next came out the fish and grilled asparagus on two separate plates. It was a bit cumbersome to deal with all three plates while at the bar and i didn't understand that. I was also surprised that my grilled asparagus had a large glob on it. Turns out it was cheese and it was amazing then the lightbulb clicked, this is why the three plates... asparagus needed to be baked to melt the cheese. The fish was fantastic probably the best baked fish that I have ever had.. and trust me, I don't say that often. If in Mobile, this place is worth the stop. read more

So after waiting an hour and 3 minutes to be seated I didn't realize that you all had a segregated section My party were seated in a room with all blacks and after being seated I was looking around this table had been available because no one left the building as so was waiting to be seated. We only have been here once for lunch. It was just off the interstate, easy to find and park and just what we needed. Big place but booths give you privacy. Clean and nicely decorated. All the staff was quick and friendly just what we needed in the middle of a long road trip. Had the soups, bisque and gumbo both were very good.Both of us had the "Royal Red shrimp" I had never heard of them before. They are big and sweet and do taste a little like lobster. A couple were kind of soft a mushy which detracted a bit. I want to try them again maybe cooked differently but they were good as is. I had to ask for some crackers to go with them. It would be nice if they came without asking. They didn't seem to serve bread. It was a pleasure to try a food i had not known before. read more

As a girl plucked from Florida and now living in the desert of West Texas, I sure do miss Oyster Rockefeller. So, on a business trip to the Gulf, had to find the best place around. We just put our name on the waiting list via Yelp Waitlist and once we entered the restaurant to check in after waiting 45 minutes the VERY RUDE hostess informed us that the restaurant does not seat via Yelp's Waitlist app and that we would have to put or names on the list and wait an additional 1 hour and half. Was suggested this place by a local person, and it was the bomb. Had the royal reds appetizer. Large shrimp that tastes like lobster. Awesome. The had the seafood gumbo soup, and the seafood corn bisque soup. My wife and I shared everything and it was incredible. Finally had the shrimp po boy, with the voodoo sauce. Oyster sampler was tasty but looked like it had been coiked for a while and barely warm. Crab cakes/green tomatoes were ok, but might have been good if it was hot, it wasn't even warm! Disappointed. The only reason I would suggest this place is the bar. The bartenders are very skilled. Other than that the prices are far too high and the food is under expectation every time without fail. Ordered the Oysters Sampler and OMG it was soo good! I'm not a big oyster fan (especially raw) but do love Oysters Rockefeller. After reading the different types they had, I really wanted to try them all and was so glad to have this option. They were really good and each one had such a unique and different taste! My personal favorite were the Oysters Orleans. For dinner I had the seafood pasta and let me just say, they do not shy on the seafood! Their was a mountain of lump grab on top and the pasta was filled with shrimp and crawfish, great dish for any seafood/pasta lover! read more

To begin with we were not greeted by our waiter for about 8-10 minutes. Our server was nice and had a pretty smile but she had too many tables and was unable to be attentive. The two cocktails were weak but the beer and wine were good. We ordered the original oysters and they were good. Now for the bad part. We ordered the redfish orleans with bisque and cheese grits. The bisque was fair, the grits were subpar and the redfish was seriously overcooked and had the consistency of steak. Everything tasted of crab boil. Started out with half a dozen oysters on the half shell. They were served with cocktail sauce, horseradish, lemon, and crackers. They were fresh and delicious. I could have eaten about 3 dozen more. For my entree I ordered the shrimp Orleans with turnip greens and cheesy grits as my sides. The greens were made very well. The shrimp were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The grits were a bit thin, but they tasted great. I actually dipped my shrimp in the grits and made my own shrimp & grits. It was fantastic. All in all it was a great meal. We were driving through and stopped here as it was convenient from highway. We felt rushed by waitress. The oyster app for pretty good. My husband ordered a fried oyster dinner. Oysters were dried out and over cooked, we had probably four asparagus with hard ends and overcooked. My grouper was grilled, tasted ok, but usually grouper is thick, this was very thin. The whole experience was not what I expected from this restaurant. We got sit fairly quickly but it took a good 5 minutes for the waitress to approach us, then another 5 minutes so just to bring the drinks. The food did not take that long. Actually was fairly quickly afterwards. However, the portions are pretty small for what you pay for. The fish tasted okay but nothing spectacular to rave about. The sides were just meh also. Overall I won't be back. There are many better options out there read more
