A go to for a nighttime fine dining on the bay ambience. Excellent service, phenomenal food, a must experience. A need to visit

Good ambiance, food, and service. Had a 7:00 pm reservation with 2 co-workers as we were in town for the ALACTE 2025 Conference. No appetizers ordered. Entrees ordered: DELMONICO 16OZ RIBEYE DEEP FRIED PORK CHOP (Double Cut) (Personally, this is the best meal I have ever had in Mobile and I have been to quite a few places the past few years. To name a few Dauphin's, Noble South, Roosters, Trellis Room, etc.) POT ROAST ON A PLATE We all enjoyed our meal. For dessert 2 of us ordered the peach bread pudding. It was good. Not the best pudding I have ever had but good!

It was New Years eve, we had reservations for 630 and we were seated when we arrived, the host and hostess were very friendly. Our waitress was over in about 5 minutes. We ordered wine and the fried green tomatoes appetizer they were not very hot when they came out but had the flavors and texture. We both ordered the pot roast on a plate with mash potatoes and carrots. Again, all the flavors were there but the pot roast seemed to need more time cooking. The last time I ate it with a fork, this time I needed a knife, it was tasty nonetheless. Last we shared a cheesecake and it was awesome. Our waitress did a good job during our visit. We will return.

We visited Dumbwaiter while we were in Mobile for Mardi Gras. My son and his wife had been there before and suggested it. It is a smaller place, but the food was really good. I started the night with a virgin monitor. I appreciated that they had a mocktail option. For my entree, I chose the Tensaw Tournedos which is twin 4oz filet medallions, grilled shrimp, goat cheese scallion mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, with bourbon peppercorn sauce 45. It was pricey, but absolutely delicious. Overall great experience.

This was a great find during our stopover in Mobile. Great service, drinks were crafted perfectly, try the blackberry mint julep! We started with the marinated shrimp with a side of cheese grits , the shrimp had great flavor and cooked perfectly and the cheese grits are creamy and very tasteful. For dinner we had the short ribs, probably the best short ribs I've ever had!

Very cute restaurant in the center of Mobile. Service was great and our waitress was darling. Plenty of southern favorites such as fresh fried pork rinds and pimento cheese balls. The Brussel sprouts were the star of the show. My biggest dig is if I'm going to pay $15 for an old fashioned it better not have a freaking maraschino cherry. Seriously....i pride myself on my old fashioned standards and that is one.

The place was quaint and warmly lit and the table arrangement was well spaced etc. However, the room temperature was cool to cold. I had to put on a fleece pullover. The rest of the party was also heavily attired. I ordered the MEAT AND POTATOES, a wagyu flat iron steak, potato hash, sautéed bell peppers and onions topped with housemade woosh Food arrived warm. The potatoes were stale as if they had been cooked hours before and allowed to get cold and then reheated. Which gave them a grainy textuce. The steak was cooked the way I like it, raw. So it was easy to tell it was not wagyu beef. The flat iron steak was pre-sliced. The whole meal was extremely salty because of the homemade whoosh(Worcester sauce) that covered everything And there was no vegetable served with it. Due to the room and serving temperature my food was cold before I was done. Waitress was prompt and attentive. There was a $3.95 upcharge for credit and debit payments. All in all it was not a favourable experience. I probably will not return.

Several locals recommended this restaurant when asked where can we get some really good food in downtown Mobile, so of course had to try it. I see why, the menu is vast with so many southern options which make you feel immersed in the South. It's a bustling place with many couples out for date night, girls night and even a few families. The owner was also walking around and came to introduce himself to us which a really nice touch. The food 10/10, everything was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend id you are ever in the Moblie, AL area.

This is a lovely restaurant with a great vibe. It nestled in the heart of downtown Mobile. My family went here for my mom's birthday and the food did not disappoint. I had the short rib with mashed potatoes and carrots. The meat was tender and full of flavor. The vibe was nice as well. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the dishes and also very pleasant. I would definitely eat here again. Also, you do need a reservation, as they get pretty busy. Check them out soon.

Everything about the DumbWaiter restaurant was great! We had a big party of 18 and even though they had to split us up, we were happy that they could even take all of us since we called the day of. Our servers were great, knowledgeable, and patient. Our food was amazing too! I ordered the creole seafood pasta. It already came with shrimp, sausage, and crab. I decided to add chicken, but it really didn't need any extra meat. The pasta was a nice helping. It was very creamy. It could've been a little bit warmer, but other than that, it was delicious. I will say the best item there was the strawberry cheesecake. That was the best cheesecake I have ever had. It was super fluffy and delicious! The next time I visit, I just want the dessert!

Absolutely everything about our evening was perfect! We had the grilled shrimp appetizer which was delicious. Next we split a wedge salad which had thick cut bacon that was so good! Our entree was the Tensaw Tournedos. The filets were cooked to perfection and tons of flavor. The goat cheese mashed potatoes were excellent and the grilled shrimp were wonderful. We topped off this amazing dinner with the brownie a la mode. The service, drinks and ambiance were great. Highly recommend for a wonderful experience all around!

Went to the Dumbwaiter with friends for the first time ahead of a show at the Seanger Theater & we were not disappointed! We split a number of appetizers our favorite of which was the Brussel sprouts- holy cow were they delish & it was a HUGE portion size! Would definitely order them again. The Caesar salad was also delish & the pork rinds were good but we wouldn't order them again as the pimento cheese was served warm which wasn't very appealing to us. Our waitress wasn't very friendly to us or the table next to us which put a little bit of a damper on things but, we really enjoyed the meal itself as well as the ambience, it's a beautiful restaurant in a convenient location!

Get ready folks! If you read my reviews, you know I have A LOT of them; however, I rarely declare that a specific restaurant is in the Top 20 of my favorite Yelp reviewed restaurants ever. Well, this one made the list! It is in the Top 20 of my ever favorites among ones in other cities like Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Atlanta, etc. In a small, intimate but rather casual and louder environment is dumbwaiter. (There is an actual [now non-operable] dumbwaiter in the back). The food was over the top excellent for me. We had reservations here on a Wednesday night for a Party of 10. The table shared some appetizers including the New South Brussel Sprouts and the Fried Pimento. The brussels were simply excellent and featured some onions and a crazy delicious honey balsalmic with bacon. The fried pimento had apple bacon jam and candied onions. I also had a beverage and that was the Blood Orange Paloma! For my entree -- well that was the star of the meal, which pushed my rating of this place to like an 11 out of 10. I had the Hook to Table. The featured fish changes on this dish; however, today it was a Sheephead. Honestly, I have never even heard of Sheephead fish before; however, it was excellent. It was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly with some delicious shrimp creme sauce on top. The dish also came with some caramelized green beans and ground cheddar grits. For dessert, I had the bread pudding. This is the only thing that I didn't feel stood out for me personally. I am NOT saying it was bad. I am just saying in comparision to the rest of the meal which was perfection, I felt this was more of a 7 out of 10. No big deal. Our server was pleasant, as it is not always easy dealing with large groups of people! Overall, an excellent experience. I would love to come back again in the future. Thank you Dumbwaiter

One star for the hush puppies…read more One star for our friendly server. Sadly, I can only give two stars to Wintzell's House in Mobile, Alabama. I should've listened to all of the advice from the locals on Reddit, who warned me that this place has fallen on harder times. The char grilled oysters were funky. I ate them but worried as I ate them. The hush puppies earned a star. They were pretty tasty. The were my favorite thing on the table. However, we asked for butter, and our server gave us packets of butter substitute. Doesn't this restaurant have real butter? The gumbo was fairly tasteless and also, they had chopped up whatever seafood was in there so finely that it all just turned into mush. If there was any seafood in there, I sure didn't taste it. The West Indies crab salad was a shocking disappointment. It was a scoop of crab meat, which they ruined by mixing it up with mayo. That's it. An ice cream scoop of canned crab meat mixed with heavy mayo. It's like they didn't even try. The bread pudding left very little impression. It was a little rectangular square. Our server misunderstood us when we said we wanted it topped with ice cream, and served the bread pudding alongside a bowl of five scoops of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. It was a very odd dessert situation, but we worked our way through it. Our server was an amusing fella. He kinda/sorta made the evening. Overall, I'm glad I went so I could know for myself. However, I do wish that I had listened to the locals on Reddit.

It's got a little kick, aka spicy. We had plenty of gumbos on our RTJ trails trip and this is probably the best. Raw oysters (wild caught) - raw, the best way to enjoy good and fresh oysters. The right size too. So so good. Mahi Mahi salad - fish and shrimps were overcooked and dried Shrimp & Grits - it was ok. I wished there were more sauce. And those shrimps were tiny. Cajun seafood pasta - flavor was ok. Scallops were overcooked and tough. Redfish Bienville - fish and shrimps were overcooked. Sad And not sure if it was the way our waitress carried the trays or something but the plating looked sloppy.
