I have been here a few nights over the last month and "I'm loving it". They have a nice selection of tequila and other various top shelf liquor as well as the cheap stuff. Did I mention they have Mirror pond on tap, I mean what more can you ask for. Well for starters the Tenders are always helpful not too mention there easy on the eyes. They place is never crowded, but its never empty. Theirs always a few people in there enjoying some drinks and good music. They have a smoking section outside so you can bring your drink along with you. Also there are speakers out side so you don't have to wait for your favorite song to finish. I have not tried the food there because its usually late by the time I arrive. read more

This is my favorite bar. I actually have one of their shirts. Andrea is the reason this bar is so highly rated in my opinion. Such a heavy hand, too! The food is always excellent, and reasonably priced for a bar. And the amount of food is phenomenal. The second time I ever went there was two weeks after the first time, and Andrea remembered my name, and asked where my friend was that had come with me the first time, referring to him by name. I order a single shot of whiskey, I get a glass full. Twice the amount I get when I order a double at a different bar down the street with a dark horse on the sign, but I won't mention what it's called. Some of my favorite foods are the Reuben and the fried mushrooms. Holy Jesus, the fried mushrooms are fantastic. I really need to go back and try more of their food. In fact, I'm going to stop writing this review and go back right now for some lunch. read more

This place is clean, welcoming and full of happy customers and employees! I walked in and was immediately greeted by the bartender and had my order filled. The atmosphere is warm and homey. I wish there was more craft beer on tap but what else do you expect from a "dive" bar? The outside smoking area is my favorite part of this bar, it's spacious and has plenty of covered seating. I haven't eaten anything here but the menu seems pretty extensive. Later at night it seems the cook may go home and they cut it down to fried foods as per usual with places like this. It also get much busier after midnight. The only thing that seems off is the location of the bathroom, but you have to work with what you've got! Thanks for the great experience! read more

I have went to this place several times when I have parties at my house because it is several blocks from my place. Every time I come in there with about 10 to 25 people and it seams that we 99% of the customers. The sad thing is that we get treated/served like we are the 1%. The service here is horrible and the servers always have a horrible attitudes. This place is depressing and we will pay for the Taxi cab down town or walk across the street to Boones Ferry from now on. read more

Arrived today during lunch, waited in the front for a moment. Nobody made eye contact. A few odd expressions so eventually we figured it was a seat yourself joint. Sat down. Waited. Looked at the menu. Lots of heavy sighs, eye rolls and pointing in our direction. Nobody came. Waited longer. After 15 minutes of averted glares, and heavy sighs from the staff we left. This was their first breakfast since the owner took over and they definitely overdelivered. I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast that came with eggs, hashbrowns and toast for $5. The gravy was flavor and had sausage in it, the chicken fried steak was crispy throughout my breakfast without getting soggy, and everything else had great flavor without the need of salt. The serving staff was very friendly and the owner came out, said hi and checked up on us. They have great drink specials and I highly recommend this great little hole in the wall goldmine. read more

BEST bar in Salem for breakfast, drinks, and sports. Tiny place but so very welcoming. Lots of TV's. Fantastic breakfast. Prices are more then reasonable. The service is consistently great by all employees. The cooks will come out and shake your hand. All the bartenders make you feel right at home. I recommend it to everyone. read more

My family and I went to the grill for breakfast on a Saturday and LOVED this place. Food was excellent, more than what you get a most places. Service was prompt and helpful - we even had our own pot of coffee! Very clean... first thing we do is check the restrooms... sounds silly... it was perfectly decorated and very clean! Great new place. A couple of good TVs, comfortable seats, and $1.75 PBRs all the time. I've been to Half Time a few times to watch the Blazers and the staff has always been very accommodating in turning the volume on. I have never been here past 8pm so I can't speak to what the night vibe is, but during the early evening, it's a great place to go for a drink, a game, or some food. Speaking of the food....it's good. I'm going to put this out there, it's the best bar food I have personally had in Salem. I know, I know, there's a very low standard here, but these guys have a solid menu AND they serve breakfast all day. read more

This used to be packed/good food/good service on weekends for breakfast, ... but new owners about a year ago, and anything good about this place is now gone. Owners think 3 regulars sitting at bar drinking coffee, ordering no food, and watching old episode of Three's Company cranked up really loud, has priority over me trying to spend 5.00 on jukebox and play some music and get the weekend morning atmosphere in this dive a little more enjoyable. After I already put money into jukebox, owner tells me the old guys at the bar will be offended if he turns jukebox volume up so i can hear songs i just spent 5.00 on ! I don't go to a bar to listen to loud tv... I could understand if it were some kind of sporting event, but a 1980 episode of Three's Company...dumb ! Bad service...bad atmosphere...scary dirty dive...bad/mediocre food...overpriced mediocre drinks...waste of time/money....go somewhere else...we won't be back. read more

Under new ownership as of about 2 weeks ago, this place is great - the staff are very friendly, the food and drink prices are solid, and there's a smoking patio (thank goodness). It's a smaller space but clean and comfortable. The owner also hangs out to help his staff and greet customers and makes an effort to remember names and get to know people. I walked in the first time and instantly felt welcomed and comfortable, which means instead of walking 2 blocks to my closest bar I've hauled my lazy ass over here instead. read more

This is a review related to how we were treated in a crisis. We called the Half Time Bar and Grill to let them know they were serving someone deeply intoxicated, who has alcohol addiction, and had written out a suicide note to us, his family, the night before. Sandy told us she would look for him so they could stop serving him then returned to the phone to say he wasn't there. We then received a text from his friend, who has been standing guard trying to get him to stop drinking, that the waitress was lying to us and conspiring with him. She then continued to lie to us as I told her this and then after hanging up with her she yelled at the friend and told my brother that the friend was "betraying him." Sandy then lied to the police who showed up after he had already left about what had happened, and said his mother had come and picked him up and that he wasn't completely wasted. I think it takes a low moral character to lie to us during a crisis, but I can understand protecting a patron's privacy, it is an entirely different thing to lie to the police that are trying to evaluate a person who is in danger of killing themselves. Sandy and the half-time grill should be ashamed of their behavior today. read more

We stopped in after a work out. The bar was small and quaint but that was the best part of the evening. We both ordered a blue moon, warm and foamy with not an orange slice in sight. Server seemed irritated and put out that we even showed up. Ordered nachos to eat and what a mistake, stale chips, unseasoned ground beef, typical grocery store out of a jar salsa, dab of sour cream and some chopped tomato's. swung by on my lunch to grab a burger, walked in and was greeted with a great attitude. I got the chance to meet the cook and chat with the bartender Brenda. She was amazing, friendly and very helpful. The food was great, nice crispy tater tots that we well seasoned and did not turn to mush on my walk back from work. The burger was well cooked, well seasoned and a delight despite being a preformed patty. The burger was put together well, the cook took time to make sure wet ingredients (pickles) were on the side to avoid the avalanche of the burger in travel. For a lunch option during the week, I rate it very well, I will have to visit at night to see how they measure up. read more
